We set a date and location, made a deposit, and showed up for the shoot. Super easy. Throughout the session, Julia made us feel comfortable (and less awkward) and made great recommendations for how to pose or stand. My husband mentioned how he could see the difference from the way she guided us through the poses. Also loved the time of day that was recommended (just as the sun was setting) because our photos came out so beautiful with the glow from the sun setting. We received previews within a week and finals a few weeks after. I was reluctant to go with prints but so glad we did because the quality really is noticeable compared to Costco or Walgreens. I will continue to book Yesenia for my photography shoots and she is the first person I recommend when someone is looking for a photographer. Safety: As a mother, I have taken extra precautions during this pandemic so I was skeptical at first to book a photographer- but Yesenia has always ensured we feel safe as she creates a safe environment. She has kept her mask on for every shoot we have had with her, she disinfects all the items before use. Even now that she is fully vaccinated she keeps her mask on and constantly cleans her hands. Christmas Shoot: I first booked her when she was offering a Christmas mini in 2019. My husband, son, and our dog Moo showed up to the session at a park in the city. Yesenia was invited and warm as she helped us pose alongside the props she had. Also noted was that she was wearing a mask and disinfected the items we used as props in front of us before the shoot. I loved the pictures she took of us for Christmas that for the first time in a long time, I sent out Christmas cards! Pregnancy Shoot: I did not think I would ever have another child so when I became pregnant in 2020 I was ecstatic & quickly knew I wanted to well document this journey. I reached out to Yesenia right away, she congratulated me and told me when the most ideal pregnancy period was to take maternity pictures. I booked a spot for I was about 34 weeks pregnant. Before the shoot, Yesenia called me to discuss the color scheme, pictures I wanted to recreate, family portrait options, and the details of what I needed to take to the shoot that day. After our call, she sent me a detailed list of what to expect during the shoot and how I could prepare. When we arrived at the studio she made us feel comfortable as we took family pictures and then more intimate pregnancy pictures. My pictures came out so good everyone was in awe at how beautifully Yesenia captured that moment. Newborn Shoot: So of course I reached out to her again when my son was born. And as always she was great. She had everything in the studio prepared for our pictures. Yesenia even takes extra steps to ensure the newborn is comfortable the entire shoot. During the shoot, Yesenia was extremely calm and patient as she helped us pose and dress our son. Our son was asleep just about the entire session because he was so comfortable. She was very patient and gentle with our newborn * The shots she came up with are super creative * The quality of the photos was superb (we got canvas prints) * Michelle's photo editing skills are fantastic -- we had multiple photos that were "OK" but after some light editing they came out amazing The bad * Very expensive. Be ready to pay (I won't say how much exactly, but for us, on the order of $1000's) * The turnaround time for the photos was quite long. We took our photos in September and we didn't receive the prints until December. Apparently she went on vacation in between but we were unaware of this. This is unacceptable. We're paying top dollar for these photos, so I'm going to expect quality (which she delivered on) and a reasonable timeline for the service. * The packages are kind of ridiculous. For example, we bought canvas prints for a bunch of photos (that cost us a hefty sum for each). We wanted digital copies of each of those photos as well, but we took a hard pass; it would've cost us an additional $100-150 for each digital! We're paying top dollar for the prints, why can't the digitals be included? Overall I am happy because the photos came out great, but next time I'll be doing more research and shopping around more.

Epoxy Studio's website specifically states that she often cannot respond to phone calls, especially if she's in scheduled sessions with other clients. I was totally OK with e-mailing (my preferred method of communication anyways), and got a fast response time via e-mail. Picking a time despite our limited availability was quick (a few back-and-forth e-mails), and everything was set up in 24 hours. Contracts and payment was done online and taken care of before our session. Getting to Epoxy Studios was probably the most difficult part of the entire process. It is hard to miss, with several large trees obscuring the building entryway. Honestly, I'm nitpicking at this point... We had a little detour getting to the studio, since Google Maps announced we were here but I couldn't see it.... I thought we had to park in the parking lot immediately before, but there is street parking. Jillian was waiting (very patiently) outside of the complex to guide us and it helped a lot! Our sessions started with discussions on strategic poses and concepts over fresh coffee. The shoot took 10min (as listed on the website). Total time (including parking, talking, shooting) took ~1 hour for both of us. We were in and out, and received our proofs within 3 hours. After deciding on our final 2 edited portraits, our Viewbook albums were given to us in 24 hours! Overall, very happy with the services. Process was incredibly efficient, and I find it hard to believe any other photographers with studios in the SJ area would offer a better experience for our needs. Thanks Jillian!

I was delighted when I met her at a networking event - she was friendly and made me immediately feel comfortable. Her enthusiasm for the joy of the process was contagious! I had a great time at the photo shoot. Jillian gracefully allowed me to be me, whatever that took. It relaxed me in ways that helped me feel natural, and let some comfortable images take hold. She also, of course, had good instructions for me as to what I could do to help make a good shot ("lean this way", "look over here") and was always conscious ways to use the natural lighting. Truly, Jillian's work speaks for her. The photographs are awesome! She took a lot of pics, and gave me 70 fabulous ones to choose from! And what fun it was - I was amazed to see how good I looked! She caught such wonderful moments that looked so good in a head shot. And then she made them even better with her tweaking magic! I feel so lucky to have meet this creative soul. She is an amazing host to her studio. She sweetly offered help all along the way, in whatever ways I should so need. If, or I will say WHEN I need more head shots -- she's the one!!! Great photos. Nicole was the only person I found who met all my conditions and I am DELIGHTED with the resulting pictures. Nicole is a mom so she gets it. She understands her target market and provides a fabulous service at competitive rates. For our newborn shot, she came to our house on a Saturday. She was patient and pleasant, so we were relaxed -- the photos were natural and didn't look posed. I will definitely chose her again for professional family photos.
