Essentially this is a t-shirt shop celebrating all phrases 'Bristolian' - that is, any amusing common Bristol sayings such as "Cheers drive" (to thank a taxi driver) and 'Gert lush' (which basically translates as 'very nice)'. It's just a bit of light-hearted fun, and certainly has a novelty factor for those that like slogan t-shirts, but after a few visits the range seems pretty much the same (after all, how often does a city come up with common new sayings?).
The guy on the stall when we visited was friendly and helpful, and happy to exchange a gift bought for my friend in the wrong size (despite the fact it had been opened and tried on, and he'd lost the receipt!).
There are skinny fit t-shirts for girls, normal t-shirts for guys, and miniature-sized ones for babies.
Beast seems to have done well on the PR front, with plenty of media coverage and a good public following amongst loyal Bristolians. Personally I'm not a fan of slogan t-shirts, but for those that are I can kind of see the appeal of these. read more
