Beartooth Market is the only full grocery store in Red Lodge, and it's very convenient for picking up anything you need while in town. The staff was friendly and helpful, and the store is easy to shop and well stocked for a small mountain community. Prices are definitely on the higher side, but that seems to come with being the only option in a remote tourist town. If I were planning a trip with a larger family, I would probably do a bigger shop in Billings before coming in and just use Beartooth Market for quick top-ups and forgotten items. I understand the cost of shipping and such to Redlodge as my family has been part of the original families to your area. I feel like the lack of competition has led this market to price. their goods and services for staple groceries for the residence of that area at an outrageous rate. Most people there go to Laurel, Billings or Cody to purchase their monthly groceries and I'm not certain why that doesn't seem to matter to the owners that the prices drive them away. When I was there, I purchased deli foods to make sandwiches for a picnic lunch going up the Beartooth Pass. I didn't realize until after purchase a small jar of mayonnaise I paid nearly 8 dollars. When I was in Yellowstone and stopped at the small convenience market, which you expect to have high prices on anything - the exact jar was $3.50 I feel there needs to be some oversight to this market or a different clear fair way to manage - because the young people there cannot begin to start families and survive staples in the city that they love and call home. read more

Carbon County Meat Market! This place is where all the locals shop. In fact, it's the best grocer in town- ahem- the only grocer in town. So it's not hard being the best. They don't have HEBs up here in Montana- sigh. This grocer offers a big meat market with some types of meat that are just downright expensive for what you're getting. I saw sausages packed in jars on brine, which I'd never seen before. I also saw sausage making kits, another grocer item that was foreign to me. I was impressed with their local beer selection! They offer a bunch of different Montana beers and wines, focusing on the Red Lodge Brewing Co located down the street. I managed to get an impressive selection of Montana brews. I wanted to also get some of the local flavor, so I found some wildly expensive spices for meats and another for beans. They were so much the clerk had to double check the item to make sure I wasn't being accidentally overcharged. The place was clean, and the aisles are wide. The store is well organized and well lit. The Clearance section was pretty meager. I was pretty impressed with the self check out section, and the deli, but didn't opt for either of those. I was astonished with the produce prices! I've seldom seen cilantro priced so high! Ay yi yi! Parking is easy with a dedicated lot. It's located across the street from a cool park and art gallery! read more

Normally have a really good experience with the market! They have so many food options that you wouldn't expect for a smaller town grocer. The works are usually pretty friendly and helpful. One lady at the self check out can be a little pushy sometimes. Overall really love this place! read more

Reality is, there just isn't a ton of choice in smaller towns, but this place is still quality. Fully stocked! Had everything I needed including guac and k cups by the dozen! And baby wipes (why I came in today) lol. Plenty of booze too. Wine by Snoop?!?! My only regret today is not buying some. Stopped by for lunch at the deli today . I ordered my usual 1 pound of Chester chicken strips. After I paid and was almost home, opened the box for one. What I got was NOT my usual, Chester chicken strips . Instead it was pressed chicken Pattie's, in a Chester Chicken box, with a Chester chicken price. They were disgusting. I called the customer service there , and the lady was not very concerned or very nice. Actually quite rude .was told , they were probably out of Chester's. Well then, let the customer know, it's not real chicken, it's weird pressed Pattie's for the same price ! Totally disappointed! I won't be stopping there for lunch again !! read more

This is the funniest little grocery store. They routinely run out of, or fail to stock, the most basic things. Today it was strawberries, asparagus, Gingerade Synergy Kombucha ​(5 to 1 the most popular; talked to the Synergy agent once), Franz Cinnamon Raisin English Muffins, large containers of Advil, Violife Cream Cheese (the most popular Violife product, but they had a bunch of other low popularity Violife stuff), Comet Cleanser (you're kidding?). And it's like this every time. All of us in the little town of Bridger, Montana keep hoping the owners of our grocery (Valley Foods) will buy out Beartooth Market. Beartooth Market was our go-to stop for groceries outside those provided during my field geology course in June and July of 2015 when we stayed at the Yellowstone Bighorn Research Association in Red Lodge. It is a big market with lots of offerings, both of snackage and more substantive staples. They had some other miscellaneous supplies including Ziploc bags which were handy for sample/rock collection. The best in town is an easy claim, when it's also the only in town. Overpriced. Limited selection. The produce was high quality, but only offered organic of most things - which is awesome.... but nice to have an option if you're not feeling a $4 red bell pepper. This place desperately needs some competition to up their game. While staying in Red Lodge, it made more sense to drive 60 miles to Cody, WY for groceries. Yep, you read that right. read more
