As others have mentioned, the doughnuts are good, the service was bad. It was noon on a Saturday. They were out of lots of stuff, which is fine. They are closed on Sunday, which is also fine; however, to be rudely hurried along after we told the lady we had never been to Bearscatbefore and wanted to look things over, well, that is not fine. She made it clear she wasn't making anymore doughnuts, and the store is closed for tomorrow. Why act like new customers are such an inconvenience? It's actually kind of remarkable how she could make shopping for a treat a bad time. So my conclusion is this. The doughnuts are good, the lady is a bit of a bear, and her customer service is scat. read more

Super friendly staff and such a cute, clean place to pick up baked goods! We got donuts for our staff a few times and it did not disappoint!

The go to place in Bisman for donuts. That's what they do. Bacon, Oreos, just about anything you want for a donut they have. Just show up and pick out what you need. Honestly there is no other places in Bismarck (nor Fargo, sorry Sandy's) that is better. Service is immediate, some tables but this is really a grab and go spot. They will do custom orders which we did for a kids birthday too. read more

Stopped here on a whim while getting gas off the highway, as I had some hunger pangs and I talked myself into fresh donuts. Got inside, perused the selection - surprisingly not that large, a few unique ones and a few mainstays. But you know the saying when it comes to restaurants - focus your menu, pick a few items and do them right. There was only one chocolate donut, so that went in my box, with Bavarian (sweet coconut cream) topping. I also went for two interesting assemblages: Almond Joy donut (external almonds and chocolate drizzle), and pretzel (pretzels and chocolate). Findings: Donuts are soft, surprisingly better texture than other donuts I've had. They aren't large but are quite inexpensive, toppings are generous, and all 3 were absolutely delicious. I licked the box clean. I thought I'd save one for dessert later but nope, too tasty. So close to the Interstate - anyone traveling through the area should get out here and sample! Oh, and a clean place with easily visible choices, friendly and talkative staff, all that good stuff. :) read more

Wow those place has amazing Donuts. When we moved here we were sad no DD no KK but now we are saying Dd who??? Kk what??

Donuts and coffee are good, the 3 stars are because I have been sitting at one of their tables for about an hour and there are at least 2 tables that obviously need to be wiped down, floor needs to be swept and the workers are in the back watching tv (I can hear it)....have more pride in your place of employment. read more

Talk about your local bakeshop. This place is open until 4, but I would totally suggest heading in earlier to get you some freshly made donuts. They have a ton of unique toppings ranging from Oreo cookies, to bacon, do fruity pebbles. They are quite connected to their community, helping out with fundraisers and local charities. Customers can vote on new flavors of donuts that the staff creates. The donuts themselves are fluffy and soft. The name "bearscat" is actually a cowboy term for a fried, non-cylindrical, chocolate glazed donut. The interior certainly reflects the cowboy origins of the name, with lots of lighter colored wood. You can sit down and they do have coffee, but get some donuts to go and get your coffee at Starbucks, bring it all home or to your office and have everyone appreciate you. read more

Great selection of donuts! Friendly service. The old fashioned was delightful. It was full of flavor, thick, crisp on the outside & soft on the inside. The bearscat signature donut is shaped like a wildlife dropping. Comical, & delicious. It was only $2 for the two donuts that I purchased. I look forward to my next visit! read more

Bearscat was handing out Halloween coloring sheets to kids. They told my daughters that if they complete the coloring sheet they would get a free donut when they brought the sheet back in. They were excited, colored the sheets over the weekend. We returned the sheets this morning and were told that they get a token for a free donut to use on their next visit. But that they would make an exception this time but not in the future. My 9 and 6 year old daughters looked up at me like what? If you are going to have color contest and give out a donut to kids for participating. GIVE THEM A DONUT, not some token to garner more business. It is terrible practice and i hope the owners consider changing this practice. read more

2.5 stars rounded up to 3... You would think with a town the name of Bismarck, that there'd be AMPLE selection of bakeries and donut shops in town. Nope....apparently just this one. Maybe I was late to arrive, but I did go with the Old Fashioned like the other reviewers have all noted. Meh... i thought it was no bueno. Somewhat dry... not very tasty either. read more

Love, love, love me some Bearscat. It's a local bakery with bake cases full of donuts galore. The donuts are always fresh and you can pair them with a hot cup of joe. It's one of the first places that I visited after moving to Bismarck a little over a year ago. The staff are friendly not to mention the bakery smell that floats in the air. It's conveniently located off the interstate. The donuts are consistent and creative which always makes it fun each time I stop-in. Don't forget the traditional Bearscat donut. They're a chocolatey glazed cake donut that a perfect for dipping into a cold glass of milk. Now you can find them in local gas stations, but tend to sell out quickly. I prefer going into the storefront to get the whole experience. Keep on baking, Bearscat. Keep on baking.... read more

Their donuts are seriously amazing. We tried a maple bacon and Boston cream and I think they were the best donuts I've ever had although super sweet and large so I could not eat it all in one sitting. Got coffee too which was meh/average. Donuts 5 stars, coffee 3 stars. Right off the highway too so an easy stop while on the road. read more

I loathe stupid restaurant and entree names. I am one of those people who rolls their eyes at That Pancake House's "Rooty Tooty Fresh and Fruity" and will order "the fruit pancake combo" instead. Supposedly, "bearscat" is a throwback to cowboy slang for donuts. I have a hunch that someone just likes potty humor and doesn't realize that literally comparing their food to poop is probably not the best marketing decision. That being said, I can't even give this terribly-named place a star off because their donuts are just that delicious. Even the bearscat, the chocolate sour cream cake donut that isn't fully formed into a circle and so it looks like bear scat? Even that one. The donut that I order by pointing at or saying "that one" instead of proclaiming "the turd" or even "the shit one" as I've heard other customers call it. I've been the first person there when they opened and I've been there at 10 AM and I've found something delicious each time I've ordered. I've never gotten fewer than a half dozen (it's cheap enough that you can afford to surprise a coworker or two) and I have ordered 3 dozen for a meeting. Yes, they're more expensive than grocery store donuts. Is it worth it? I don't know, I like to eat food that tastes like food and not cardboard, so I sure think it is! Their sprinkle donuts are good, the boston creme is delicious and the icings are always fresh and tasty. I tried a caramel/chocolate iced donut the last time I was there and was surprised by how much I liked it since I don't like caramel. The coffee is terrible and comes from a machine. The only other beverage options are bottled, so one star off for the lack of yummy beverage options. read more

First thing to note is that North Dakota isn't overflowing with donut shops, neither chain nor small business. For the area, this is the number 1 place. They could even hold their own against the big ones. I love the creativity of the seasonal concoctions too! read more

After driving past this place a hundred times, usually at night, I finally got a chance to stop in during the day. They probably had two dozen different types of donuts and almost all of them looked fantastic. I personally tried one filled with Bavarian Creme (yummy, nice covering of chocolate frosting) and one they describe as a "puppy chow-like donut" which basically means peanut butter and chocolate - super sweet but delicious. At the risk of sounding piggish, I will confess I also sampled the chocolate "bearscat" one (really guys? I hate potty humor) and a bite of a proclaimed Samoa-cookie-like donut. All good, all super sweet and tasty fresh, even the next day. My gripe is that none of the donuts are labeled. I want to know what a donut is: what it's filled with, whether it's peanut butter or caramel I spy on top. So I asked question after question to know which were the right ones to pick up. $16.75 for a baker's dozen donuts. Pricey, much more so than grocery store donuts, but have you seen the difference? No comparison. read more

Aside from the name, which I think was definitely a poor choice, this is a quality place. The service is always friendly and fast. The product is delicious and consistent. They have a variety of donuts, and they are all displayed nicely. The business is easy to access and has ample parking. The prices are great. I've tried a few, but my favorite is the raspberry jam filled with white frosting. read more

Ridiculous!! Stopped to buy a dozen donut and couldn't get any help. Another customer came and waited and ended up walking out without buying the 3 dozen donuts she wanted. I called for help 4 different times. When the clerk came out he was smiling. I asked why he wouldn't help his customers, he continued to smile (no apology) and said he had to put the Pepsi anyway. I plan on calling owner tomorrow. I left without the donut and won't be back. read more

The only place to go for donuts. They are always perfect and there is a reason there's a line for them in the mornings!

Stopped by early on a Saturday morning in my old stomping grounds. This was our first visit. The selection was pretty picked over but we were satisfied with the random selections and recommendations by the baker. While the mango-tango donut was pucker-power cringe/seizure inducing to the adults, it was a huge hit for the kids. We'll be back when we can (we now live in Oregon) but we'll come back sooner if you make our suggestion of the poppyseed filling bismarck! read more

Got yelp just for this review. Went here and they had amazing donuts on trays. I pointed at the amazing looking maple with choc drizzle all over them. She put it in a bag and I went back to my hotel. Hands down best donuts!!! And the Bearscat donut might not be the prettiest lol but it is one of my most favorites!!

I miss all the donut shops, everywhere else in America. This is pretty much the only donut place in town, and once they're out of something... well they're out. No excuses, no apologies, get there early or dont get what you want. Not that they are that great to begin with but they are what they are, little pillows of fat with sugar. Usually delicious when made elsewhere, not so much here. The only one's worth getting, and you have to get them FRESH in the morning or its a waste, are the old fashions. Those they can do well, and frankly the only reason they're getting any stars from me. The sugary top for the donuts looks like a Jiffy recipe and it's got so much grainy sugar you'll teeth will hurt if you can make it through one whole donut. I love me some sweets and this place is not the place I'll be going to satisfy that craving. I will however, go there when I know I'm getting donuts for a large group who won't eat a whole one. Like at work. When everyone wants to share, that's when these guys will get my business. read more

Want a Bismarck in Bismarck? We did and this place was AMAZING! I had a cream cheese frosted strawberry-filled donut. Truly one of the best I ever had in my life. So fresh, not so sweet and deliciousness through and through. My hubby, a fan of lemon, and a lemon-filled powdered sugared donut. He loved it. Brought cookies home for the kids.
