I also received several other tree service company suggestions. So, when I needed 3 pines removed from the backyard, I included Spiders among those I contacted regarding the project. After getting 5 estimates, I went with Spiders primarily because of: 1) their excellent references; 2) great reviews on Yelp and elsewhere; as well as 3) their reasonable pricing and comprehensive proposal (some of the other companies would not do stump grinding themselves and I find it a lot easier to deal with one company on any project). The job Spiders did was outstanding. They came in when scheduled and went right to work. Their crew was clearly very experienced and deftly handled the tricky job of carefully removing one of the pines which was only several feet from the house and had a number of large branches overhanging the roof. (One of the guys climbed up the tree then tied up and sawed off each branch, while the other was pulling it off on a rope.) Better yet, they were extremely fast and efficient, cutting up and chipping the debris just as others were taking them down piece-by-piece. The entire job took 1.5 hours from when they pulled up to when they left, which reduced the noise and disturbance time. They also did a thorough clean up and were kind enough to help me by removing some detritus from a previously felled tree. Based on my experience, if you have any tree care issues, I cannot recommend Spiders Tree Care Service more highly!

This ended up being a severe mistake as I then discovered damage to my gate. Minor, but clearly nobody cared to take note of it, contact me about it or fix it. When I contacted again, I was told I must be confused on my part, as the careless team that runs heavy machinery through wet yards couldn't have been the same careless team that ran that heavy machinery up against a bolt, splitting the wood and bending it out of place. For this service, you're better off renting machinery from Lowe's and doing the damage yourself. I was told quote "this is an unusually slow time" as there's been a lot of competition from tree companies starting more work from the hurricane that came through. It's sounding like that competition has been the better option for people, and I didn't get that hint.

It ended up being a two-day job; it was that challenging! It would have been a lot easier on the guys had we had access to the backyard for their crane and other heavy equipment, but alas, it is what it is... Beyond that, they cleaned up after themselves and had our property looking immaculate afterwards. The crew cleaned up after the work was completed so that there was no dust or wood chips on our roof (and our neighbor's roof since they had to access the neighbor's property to fully take down the tree). Anyone visiting us the next day would've never known that we just had a giant tree cut down. There was some oil spillage on our paved alley/driveway from a chainsaw that broke while cutting down the tree, and Northside provided us with a free power wash to take care of the problem.
