The kicker was that they gave a 50% off Learn to Ski package (cross-country skiing) which saved us several $$$ the next few days. Not only did cross-country skiing was fun (first time for us), the instructors were very patient and effective. The 2nd day I went (on a Monday morning), my group lesson became Private lesson as I was the only on in the class. Even more savings :-) The Warming Hut cafe is a great touch after doing some trails. The food was great here. The tracks for cross-country skiing was kept up. Our entire group (multiple kids and adults) had a great time. Weather was good as well as a bonus.

We had to leave early because I wanted to be there close to opening time if 9am, we got there around 10am and there were plenty of parking spots and tubes for the kids to ride. For 6 people, 4 tube rentals for 2hrs it cost me $160. At Leland's I would've paid $240. It was a pleasant experience. The staff was very friendly and seemed genuinely happy doing their job. We had so much fun, the kids were whooped after the two hrs. At first I don't think that two hrs would be enough, but it was perfect. It's an honor system for the amount of time you use the tubes, don't be the one who tries to use them all day. There are a lot of people coming into the park at all times of the mid morning. 2 1/2hes is more than plenty to wear the little ones out. We will definitely be back and would recommend Bear Valley Adventure Co to anyone who has kids.

You can be first in line when the lifts open! There were several families there, but service was fast and efficient, and we were on our way in no time. The equipment was in decent shape. They have full Rossi rental packages. The boots were comfortable if not a little basic. The skis were in good condition. Everything looked fairly new. The poles were a little cheap, but who cares--they're just sticks right? We also got a demo package. Nicer Rossi boots plus Atomic skis. The previous week I tried the premium Rossi skis somewhere else, but these Atomics were hot. After I returned them, he offered to sell me a new pair that were on sale. Not this time, but I was tempted. The staff was friendly and knowledgable, without being overbearing or know it all. The were fast too. They sped us through our paperwork, we paid up front, and returned our stuff by 5:30 day of. Great experience overall!

They are able to take debit card with a small fee. Pay with cash and you can avoid fee - just like numerous small business impacted by cc fees from the cc companies. Earlier this week we went up, very excitedly as we couldn't wait to start the day bright and early. However, imagine our surprise when we get inside the lodge to find out the lockers are GONE! Now why on earth out of everything in the lodge would you remove the lockers? I can't speak for everyone but I was happy to pay for a locker to store my stuff in as I don't want to trek all the way back to my car in ski boots to change. But that's not even an option because they've been completely removed! Please for the love of everything put them back! Lockers aside. Every employee I interacted with throughout the day was very friendly and helpful. They were quick when offering assistance and also offered tips to the beginners of our group when getting on and off the lifts. The runs themselves at the resort are nicely groomed, and further up the mountain gives you these absolutely beautiful views all around.

The cost for lessons is comparable to other places, and somewhat of a good deal as it also includes a lift ticket. The lesson itself was less than two hours, so I wish they had a half-day lesson for this age group (13+). That being said, after the first lesson my kids were able to get on a lift for the easiest run and practice on their own. The process for parking, checking in, and rentals was STRESSFUL. Get there early!! The resort itself is kind of MEH. We came during one of the holiday dates (literally when else do folks come as we all have work and school) and it was over-crowded and kind of gross. Food was tragic, and over-priced. Leave food in your car and go eat in your car, it's that bad. I'd come again for my kids, but would arrive as early as possible with a big breakfast.

Service here is decent, although it did throw me off that they only had me try on one boot instead of both. Like other reviews have mentioned, the equipment is certainly dated and starting to show their age. I received a bent pole and was about to ask for another one, but noticed that practically all the poles they had were bent. Their skis were fine and were adjusted. The worst part was the boots. They're quite uncomfortable as the interiors are extremely worn down. The latches on them are also some of the hardest to tighten. I'm mostly giving it 4 stars because it gets the job done, but compared to several of the rental shops I've tried in Tahoe -- this place falls short.

Their pricing is way better compared to other nearby shops, which makes a huge difference if you rent often. The service is always quick and efficient. I am usually in and out with no hassle. The staff is welcoming, friendly, and genuinely helpful every time. It has a great family spot kind of feel, very comfortable and supportive, especially if you are renting with kids or first timers. One season they even let me switch from a snowboard to skis mid day without any issues, which I really appreciated. Super accommodating and easy to work with. Highly recommend if you want great prices and great service. This is my go to spot every season.
