I had used Bear Eye care in the past and had no issues. when I was due for an annual visit I spent months calling and emailing and got no response. I finally got an answer and was told they are not taking appointments. No explanation given or offer to transfer or obtain my records. I found another eye doctor. Currently, the business is listed for sale so I assume they have gone out of business. read more

My appointment with Dr. Rimmer and Bear Eye Care went very well. I found the office staff to be friendly and they made me feel very comfortable although I'm always anxious about eye appointments. My appointment was on time. Luckily, I did not need a prescription for glasses as the eye surgery I had 9 years ago is still helping immensely. I had gone due to a decline in vision. Dr. Rimmer explained that the decline is caused by cataracts but they are not serious enough for surgery. She was sincerely interested in my unique eye history. She gave me suggestions for maintaining eye health and current research on her suggestions. I was delighted to know that I do not need a prescription for glasses. read more

I was seen as a new eye patient several weeks go.The stars are only for Dr. Rimmer (if this was only about doctor service I would give 5 stars). Dr. Rimmer was professional, attentive, gave me thorough exam, had a decent glasses selection area and saw me on time. She was the ONLY highlight of this visit. Issue: I ordered and paid my out of pocket expense for my glasses on March 9, 2023 rest was covered by my vision insurance. It is presently April 24, 2023 and I am still waiting for my glasses. I went from disappointed to upset. I wish I could cancel my order but my insurance confirmed that they paid already. MORE Issues: Noone picks up the calls. Office is always randomly closed. Voicemails are responded to days later if any and I received inconsistent updates about my glasses. I rarely complain as I am an easy going person and work in healthcare myself but besides the eye exam everything else is disappointing. I was told my glasses would be ready 2 weeks ago then of course the office was closed for holidays without update. After I receive my glasses, I will NOT be returning to this office in the future nor would I refer anyone here. I have never waited so long for glasses and Ive been wearing eye glasses for 30+ years. Kudos to Dr. Rimmer though for her bed side manner because that is the only highlight of my visit. Sadly she needs front desk help and someone who is available to pick up in real time because it hurts the practices reputation. Terrible experience and still no glasses. Unprofessional. read more

Dr. Rimmer responded to my rating of her office, but was not honest about me being told that there was nothing they could do. Her office manager said that all he could do was order another frame and prescription lenses, out of pocket to me since my insurance company paid fully for the first pair. read more

I have been a patient of Dr.Rimmer's for seven years now. Dr. Rimmer is a very caring and thorough optometrists. She always takes her time with you during the exam, and answers any questions you might have. I have ordered several pairs of glasses from Bear Eye Care, and I have really enjoyed wearing every pair. The practice offers a wide range of comfortable eye glasses for men and women. I highly recommend Dr. Rimmer's practice to anyone seeking eye care in the North Georgia area. read more

Moved to the area looking for a new eye doctor called twice and left message asking for an appointment they never bothered to call back. Disappointing to see that level of service in a small town. I believe when you live in a small town you should trade with the local merchants as much as possible. Some are making it hard to do that. read more

I had used this company years ago and was satisfied. However, I had to start seeing an ophthalmologist who is now writing my prescription. I took it to Bear since they honored my insurance. I paid $295 on Oct 11. I just got my glasses on Feb 2. After 7 weeks they came in wrong. It took the rest to this time to get them back again. And they're still not right. Better, but not right. And no offer of compensation for my inconvenience. Customer service was sorely lacking and it was very difficult to even find a time when they were open. I do not recommend you use them for eye glasses. I won't ever again. read more

Every visit, we are amazed at the cheerfulness, the friendliness and the helpfulness of the staff and especially of Dr. Rimmer. She is enthusiastic, positive and is always excellent. She gives great advice about keeping our eyes healthy and finds the easiest way to follow it. We have tried many Eye Care places in Blairsville where we live, but we are satisfied to drive all the way to Blue Ridge to keep our Dr. Rimmer. Went to an ophthalmologist in Atlanta and received a prescription for glasses. Went to Bear to fill the prescription. Two years later when seeing my eye doctor again in Atlanta, he tells me that the prescription was filled incorrectly and I have the wrong prescription. Went back to Bear and they denied and would not make good. I paid close to $900.00 dollars for those glasses. I would never recommend this place. read more

The people there where condescending and rude. They over book and you will wind up spending about an hour and half there. There frame selection was very limited with many repeats of the same. And for contacts they only carry one yes just one brand. So forget about any rebates or discounts threw your insurance. Overall customer service is so poor that it tops the list for enough never to go back. read more
