My group of friends with their bows!

It was so much fun! I went to a fundraiser for my friend and everyone there was so welcoming, especially Brandon who taught us the ins and outs of archery for us beginners. Thank you so much!!!

NOT WELCOMING TO NEWCOMERS TO THE HOBBY! YOU'RE BETTER OFF BUYING A BOW AND ARROWS AND PRACTICING IN YOUR BACK YARD OR FIELD SOMEWHERE Upon entering with my son I was not even greeted but stared down by an old man behind the counter. (I think the same old man mentioned bellow) I proceeded to approach him and I muster up "hey I'm new to the hobby and am wondering how to find out if I like it or not." The old man yelled around the corner, "Brandon!! We got you another one." That was very unwelcoming and slightly embarrassing. This made me feel like a burden for walking in. Brandon was nice but really discouraged me from perusing a compound bow in the hobby. He said they only rent out recurve. Which was expected. I read that much online. But when I asked how someone explores compound bows to get into the hunting hobby he said, " ohh those compound bows to set you up in the hobby can run you $1000. Then you need the sight and draw back trigger (I don't remember the proper name) and those pieces can be up to $1000 each." I'm really wondering what I'm doing here right now. I asked, "so do people just buy an expensive compound bow and decide if they like it then?" Brandon said, "yea pretty much. Do you want to rent the lane?" I said "No I was really interested in learning more about compound shooting. I should just head out. I want to do more research. Are other archery shops around?" I asked. He said, "yes but this is the only shop that specializes in adjustments on compound bows." I sat down and watched some archers. After watching some of the other guys shoot, I walk up to a different employee, working on a bow, and I asked, "you must be the bow expert haha. if I wanted to get into the hobby of hunting what compound bow would you refer me to?" He said, "well that depends on your draw back and the price you're comfortable with. Do you know your draw back length?" I said, " No. I just told you I'm new to the hobby." He said, "I'm actually working on this bow now so once I'm finished I can help you." I said, "oh I'm not going to buy anything I was just hoping you could give me some type of information that I could take home to do some research. I hope you have a good day." I then just walked out. The whole staff had this pretentious demeanor. Maybe I came to the wrong shop and asked the wrong questions. I was just hoping they'd break the compound bows down into brands and prices and types of hunting. I can find this information online on my own. I thought I was coming to experts for advice and direction. I would return but I will not because I'm afraid they'll treat me even more poorly after seeing this. But it was a very unwelcoming visit.

What a great place! A friend of mine was visiting in town and had always wanted to try archery. I did an internet search and found this location. They offer beginners and advanced classes on Saturday. I was able to get him in for the beginners class that lasted 1 1/2 hours for $20. They provide the equipment and a great teacher. They have an assortment of bows and other equipment for sale. Small parking area and wish it had more of an area for people to sit down and watch. Staff was very friendly and professional.

The open shooting area

We decided to add archery to my birthday weekend extravaganza. This place was tiny and we weren't sure we were in the right place as their sign still reads as opening at 11am even though their class time has changed to 9:30 am. It was (obvi) and the manager was super nice and welcoming. I'm still surprised lessons are only 20.00 what a fantastic deal! Our instructor Jacob was really kind and patient (our class was composed of hyper little boys talking about video game HPs every 45 seconds). We enjoyed ourselves so much we're going again this weekend. I really can't recommend this place more. For that one, 1 star rating perhaps he was just having a bad day, everybody has them but honestly I cannot imagine anyone in that shop that we met being nasty.

I'm extremely particular with who works on my equipment and this is the only shop I will let to work on my bow.

I'm lucky to have a few places near me to check out and ended up falling in love with RMS Gear. Where do I start? The friendly people offering great tips to ensure you're set up successfully. The pricing of the rental/space for practice. The amount of selection of equipment but most of all, how selfless all the staff are with sharing their knowledge. I've been coming here and have brought friends w us every weekend for the last 2 months. Just last week committed to purchase our own equipment. I think this rabbit hole for me will be deep, I foresee private lessons, limbs galore, and continue to practice to get better. Thank you to Tom, Dan, Kelly, Caleb and Felix for the last couple of months' support and sharing your knowledge. Did you know they house some of the best coaches in the world? Come check them out, maybe you'd fall in love too.

Anyone with a video-game loving kid knows how tricky that can be. I am very happy that we discovered an opportunity to do something much more than just shoot arrows together. Golden Archery embeds archery into a larger framework of martial arts, drawing on both eastern and western traditions, creating something entirely unique. It's not just archery lessons, it's an entire learning process dedicated to giving you the tools for continued development and growth over a lifetime. The program Mr. Johnson has developed (and continues to refine with his impressive instructors and input from a variety of other martial artists) is a carefully thought out system of training, conditioning, and discipline with martial archery at its core. That discipline is an element that appealed to me strongly, both as a parent and an aspiring archer. You're not just plunking arrows into a target, you learn to focus your mind and body on a purpose, to hone yourself to that purpose over time, and see the results of your effort at the far end of the range. These are lessons applicable to a lot more than archery. I count myself lucky that we found Golden Archery, and I'm grateful we have the chance to work with the community of instructors and students there.

My son was told that he needed a bow of his own from Chris Dorow who started to talk to him about a building a new bow. At first we were told the bow would cost around $1,500.00. Soon that was up around $2,500.00. It slowly inched up in price. By the time my son was handed the bow, it was over $4,000.00. I had some reservation about the fact that it kept increasing and not to mention, my son was headed off to college. Chris decided to stop by my house and discuss the bow. He assured me that if my son didn't use the bow, he would buy it back...especially since it was a top of the line bow! He also assured me that he would start archery classes at CU where my son was going to attend school in a couple months. After my son's first year at college, he realized that he did not have time to use the bow and contacted Chris for a refund. The bow was used less than 5 draws.... Chris ignored the texts and emails my son sent him and only responded when I asked if he received my son's messages. Chris stated he only gives a 90-day money back guarantee. Please let me say that he sat in my dining room, looked me in the eyes and told me that if the bow didn't work out, he would buy it back. Never once did he state anything about a 90-day guarantee. He also neglected to contact my son about any archery classes while he was at CU. Chris has told me that he would get back to me to talk about this issue and has still not contacted me. He appears to not want to work with me to come to some agreement either. Please do yourself a favor and get ANY promise from him in writing.
