In the pretty, little suburban village of Gateacre sits the Bear and Staff Pub. Its spotless interior stands out yet strangely blends in at the same time: it's a mixture of contemporary furniture and old fashioned decor, which work together and complement each other well. Inside the pub is divided into several smaller areas, each with its own character and ambience, so whatever type of evening you want you can find the right mood. And if you fancy some al fresco dining or drinking, the beer garden is the place for you. It's got ample seating and heating, so you won't get too chilly on a cool evening.
The food is well cooked and value for money, with lunches starting from £4.95, selected two course meals for £8.95, and three course meals for £10.95 - the latter being available Monday to Thursday after 5pm. Also, perfect for a leisurely Sunday, they do a lovely roast for around £8.
We come here for the Thursday night quiz, which starts at around 9pm. It does get busy quickly so I'd recommend coming here early to make sure you get a seat. read more
