No groups of old men spending all day drinking cheap bear. It felt like a place you could spend time and enjoy the pleasant surroundings. I visited on a Sunday afternoon so it may be different in the evenings. I had a nice JW Lees Chocoholic and a brewdog edge at £1.75 a pint. The daily food special was a Tark Dhal Curry, rice and popadoms for £2.30!

Hosting pub quizzes and having wide screen TVs showing various sporting events has probably not done it any harm, but I'm fairly sure that the only thing that has kept this pub afloat really are its loyal patrons, most of whom are getting on a bit. The pub does have some good food and a nice atmosphere, and it is a nice alternative to all those showy bar/bistros that surround it. The prices for drinks are reasonable and it is no doubt a popular haunt for students who walk down from the Carnatic halls of residence.
