Ms. Art and Ms. Dianne, the Director & Assistant Director, know every parent and child enrolled and make sure to greet them by name as soon as they walk through the building and see them. And Ms. Asii is always greeting us good morning at drop offs! These interactions always feel warm and welcoming. The school itself feels safe with a passcode needed to enter and livestream cameras in every classroom. The communication throughout the day is very convenient. You get info updated on the SproutAbout app like diaper changes, feedings, activities, and naps! Since enrolling my son, the teachers and staff have shown so much kindness to him. They have all built great rapport with him and he enjoys spending time there. Every lead/support teacher he has had has made such a great impact on him. He has learned so much from being kind to others with gentle hands in the infant class to learning colors and planting seeds to grow in the twos class! We are looking forward to more that's coming as he continues to grow here. I would recommend this childcare option 100%!

Running a pre-school is hard, and Merryhill has it down to a science. I didn't realize how amazing…read morethey were until my 5yr old started public school. They provide lunch to ALL the children, plate it and encourage them to eat it. In public transitional kindergarten my kid has to stand in the lunch line and figure it out herself. Merryhill wipes her nose, applies sunblock and helps her get her jacket on in the cold. The teachers at Merryhill watch the children attentively in the play yard, if it's too hot, I've seen Ms.Sandra and Faye spray water on them and keep them in the shade to stay cool. I am glad my 3 year old is still there. We picked Merryhill because of its proximity to our home, but my hubby like them over Tutor Time, or Little Blossoms, because they are more academically oriented. They follow an early development program and always update parents on your child's progress. They are nurturing to the children, admin staff works hard, the facility is always clean and they have alot of extras to keep the parents involved and happy. The front office staff is always hustling to meet compliance numbers and ratio's so it's nice to know they are sticking with CA's regulations. Christine F. the director, is ALWAYS there. If she isn't in her office, she is usually out doing something FOR the school or getting additional training. She has a sunny attitude and so does Ms. Nicole and Ms Angie at the front desk. They are really on top of it. I am a BUSY working parent (so is my hubby), they accommodated my travel schedule and always gave our kids as much attention and care as they others. My first child attended from 21months on, they really help encourage with the potty training. Of course she cried every day at drop off for a few months, but that's individual to each child. Once she bonded with a teacher she was fine. They do try hard to comfort children with separation anxiety while tending to the other children. I had both my toddlers in there for a year. Their baby care is amazing, you can come by during lunch to nurse your baby or leave your own milk. EXTRAS that we liked: they periodically do a Parent's Night Out where they watch your kids so you can have a date night. Around the holidays they do them more frequently so you can do Christmas shopping. Fall Festival, Spring Carnival, and Waterplay in the summer is always a treat for the kids. Here's a secret, some of the teachers will moonlight as babysitters and that's a huge benefit because you are bringing home someone your child is already familiar with who has CPR and all the important certifications. DOWNSIDE. It's one of the pricier pre-schools in the area, and you only get one week of vacation (waived), but you get what you pay for. And this is top notch. Keep in mind that they have really long hours so if you take advantage of the full day, which is almost 12 hours of child care, you are getting a good value.

Ms. Roy and Ms. C are by far the best teachers your child could have--they ensure the kids are learning every day while having fun, and they care for them genuinely and kindly. If you enroll your child(ren) here, they will definitely be well-prepared for TK or Kindergarten.

Mrs. Firoozeh is always so kind, and his whole face lights up when she opens the door in the morning. The guilt will not go away but what does help is that you find someone/place where your child is happy, growing and loved. DAYCARE DESCRIPTION: Basically the owner (Firoozeh) converted her entire downstairs home and outside area to a daycare. You take off your shoes when you go inside so it's clean for the kids and there is a separate room for them to take their naps. Some of the daycares I checked out when we first moved here had the play area convert into sleep area and just placed plastic mattes for them to sleep on - yukky. This place has a sleep room so the kids don't get woken up from any noise outside. WHAT TO EXPECT: Firoozeh does an amazing job with the kids. She is so professional, always wearing gloves to change their diapers. Each day I get a sheet informing me of when my daughter ate, slept, peep/pooped. Firoozeh always takes classes to keep updating her preschool and daycare activities and makes sure the kids are ready for school one day! The activities, toys and books are wonderful and all the love that Firoozeh pours into the daycare and the kids is visible. FUNNY NOTE: My daughter did not want to leave one afternoon when I picked her up a bit earlier than usual (thinking she would want to dash out of there) and that was when my guilt started fading (just a bit). I highly recommend this place and trust me I know it's good since I drive here from East Sacramento almost each day (my job is not here but it's so nice to know my daughter loves it and has fun so it's worth it to me!)

Karen was also very thorough in detailing costs and approved programs, Calwork and Capp. A plus, is that Karen and her partner Rocio are both bilingual (Spanish/English)! Which is super helpful since I want my baby to continue on and speak our language along with English. The place in itself is super clean with educational books and toys, they even have a diaper changing station. The fire extinguisher is at hand, the place has several windows which keeps the place ventilated (important now with covid). To note, Karen and Rocio were both wearing masks as one should and showed me their vaccination cards without hesitation. Don't be shy to ask! Looking forward to working with Rocio and/or Karen.

Hand in Hand is a great preschool/daycare center. My daughter was aging out of her previous infant…read morecenter and I wanted to keep her with her "baby friends". I visited several centers but chose HIH based on several factors: 1. Yes, several "baby friends" were attending HIH. 2. The outside play area is awesome! 3. The staff are amazing. Shelly, the director has been with HIH for 20+ years. That says a lot about a place that they have had the same director for that long. Also, when there is staff turnover, the rigorous training the teachers are put through speaks to the level of care involved in finding the right fit for the school. Like the previous daycare my children have attended, the food is made in house which is important to me. Children can be picky eaters and HIH tries hard to be creative with the menu while ensuring the food is nutritious and also appetizing to small kids. Loving is the only word you need to describe HIH. The staff is loving. Hugs are freely given and frequent which is very important. I love hugs from my children and I am so appreciative that the staff at HIH love hugs as much as I do. All in all this place is awesome and my review is not doing it justice.

I would highly recommend Hand in Hand (HIH)…read more TEACHERS: HIH strikes a great balance between providing structure for kids and letting them be kids. Our daughter had a difficult transition into facility-based care. Shelley (the director) and Amy (a teacher) responded with warmth, consistency and kindness... and gave our daughter (and her worried parents) lots of love and hugs. There have been staff changes lately, but I think that is pretty consistent with the industry. Also, the director and at least one teacher have been there for many years. I have found the the staff to be extremely responsive to any concerns that I have. They are very communicative. They treat children as individuals and nurture their creativity. Instead of being punitive, they focus on positive alternatives and how to be kind. PLAY and ACTIVITIES: One of the big draws of HIH is a huge outdoor play area. They have a garden, play house, toys and a bike track. They let the kids spend a lot of time outside, and even have water play in the summer. They keep the kids very active and do not show movies except one or two special days a year. They have a musician who comes to HIH on a regular basis and plays guitar and sings with teh children. FOOD: I really like that HIH has a cook on site. The meals are fresh and always include a vegetable. They seem healthy and interesting. THINGS THAT WOULD MAKE HIH EVEN BETTER: I would love to see HIH offer only organic foods and cut out all sugary snacks and juice... even if this meant charging more. I also really wish that HIH would develop a stronger spanish language program. They make an effort to read some books and do some activities in Spanish, but it would be great for the kids to get more immersion. Again, I would highly recommend HIH. I think the staff really loves and respects children... but get on the waiting list early, it can take a while to get a spot.
