It will be 2 years this December since my child has been attending ArtBeast preschool program! Not to brag but he was their first student so I think that is a pretty good qualification in rating this place. Our experience with this program has been nothing but love. They genuinely care for the children, and create a safe place both physically and emotionally. There are so many activities offered throughout the day so the kids never get bored. My initial fear in putting my child into a new environment was quickly quieted once I met all the wonderful teachers. The actual space is beautiful as there are activities designated to different areas of the facility. These include: mud kitchen in the backyard, art on the main floor, dance studio upstairs, fire truck room, and plenty of comfy corners to read a book, just to name a few! If you're on the fence I recommend at least taking a tour of the preschool. You won't find a more inclusive and welcoming space elsewhere. I cannot say enough good things about Art Beast. Our daughter had started at another more mainstream daycare and after months of all day every day crying, we knew we had to find something else. Art Beast had just opened as a childcare center and we secured her a spot as fast as we could, scared that this magical place would never have an opening again. She was happy there within days because of the love and nurture that she received from the teachers. It brings me to tears knowing that we will have to leave this community. She has grown in so many ways thanks to the education and emotional support she's received from everyone here. They are so intentional in everything they do with the kids, and we will be forever grateful for that. She's entering the world with a solid foundation because of their incredible care. read more

My triplets have just finished a year and a half and now they are on the kindergarten. Art beast has been great for our family! Bianca and her team have always been very loving and supportive of our three daughters and they loved their days there , playing and doing many arts and crafts. I particularly like the outdoor activities, and you get updated every day with pictures of one of the most precious times in your childs life. Another key feature of this day care is that they Invite the parents to share in their own community which has been a major plus. All of the other parents there have been equally involved and very great to be around. As a note, we had experienced other daycare options on Sacramento that were not as good a fit, so this comes with some perspective. We used to come here with my oldest daughter to PLAY!!! When we found out post COVID it shifted to a preschool we were stoked to enroll my son! He has SO much fun at Art Beast. I love that it is play based and follows a daily rhythm. Most of the preschools we looked like felt and looked like jail--very rigid schedules, in a fishbowl, and not inviting. Great place for toddlers! Total hidden gem in midtown of Sacramento. Looks small on the outside, but this place is pretty spacious with lots of hands on activities for the kids. ArtBeast is appropriate for toddlers, wouldn't recommend this place for older children. My son really enjoyed the lower floor where there were costumes for him to play in and a stage to pretend he was performing a magic show. Other activities included a rocket ship, boat, kitchenette and a piano! The upstairs floor had really cool art activities from paint, markers to dough! Best of all, you can bring your kid's artwork home with you after! There's a really cute fire truck with firefighter gears also. Staff here are very generous and super attentive to make sure the workstations are cleaned and stocked with the essentials. Pricing is $8 for admission. Children 1 and under are free. read more

ArtBeast Studio is so cute and fun. My son had a blast here and didn't want to leave. They have so many rooms filled with unique and fun activities for your child to stay busy with. Downstairs you will find a music, reading and costume room. The second floor all the arts and crafts (painting, clay, shapes, sand, etc). On the second floor there is a backward, in the backyard you will find water and sand activities . Upstairs there is a dance room, lego room and infant room (18 months and younger). Everything is so clean and no rowdy kids running around. Staff is super friendly and keeps maintenance up on all the rooms. It's super cheap $8/person but they offer membership here too and I will be looking into the membership program since my son loved it here! read more

I've been meaning to visit this summer with the kiddo but never made it. So on an extremely hot day we drove down to Sacramento and first off, so glad their AC was kickin. The kiddo is 5. He's not the most creative or imaginative little fella. He needs a little push to get there. I want him to explore that side of him more so this was a great place for that. He loved the indoor sand area. He played with the playdough and clay. We made paper crowns and wrote our letters with paint on the walls. He enjoyed the downstairs imagination area. I think he would have a better time if I bought a friend for him and they would be able to play for hours. In the end it was $16 for both. There's street parking available. The employees mainly stuck to themselves but were constantly cleaning up after children and did a great job making the place clean and welcoming. If I was in the area and the weather was bad, I'd come back. read more

You know those times when you could swear you've written a review already because, uh, why wouldn't you have? You freakin' love that place! Well, this is one of those times. I freakin' love ArtBeast. I mean, it has been said so many times already in previous reviews, but this place is magic. Screw Disneyland, this has to be one of the happiest places on earth. No hour-long lines. No gouging your bank account for admission that's just WAY too expensive. No kids begging for another piece of Disney merchandise. Why is this? Well, because there is no need to line up for anything here. It's all about exploration, sharing, cooperation, creation etc. etc. It costs $8 per person (adults buy-one-get-one). Pretty much everything is there for kids to touch, use and or take. Let them run free! Let them play! Let them eat glue! Or not...but this really just is a beautiful place where kids AND parents can be happy. And they invest in the community at large. Like you thought it couldn't get better, but it did. I'm all about indoor place places that don't include a trampoline or jumpy houses!!! ArtBeast let's your children explore three levels of fun play places. I came in on a weekday afternoon around 3:30 and admission was $8 for all 3 of us (my two boys ages 6 &9). Prices: Eh. I've been to similar play places in Berkeley (Studio Grow) that were the same. I'll take it, if my kids were able to stay until closing time Open Play: The concept at ArtBeast is awesome. You and your child are free to explore, from musical instruments, a dramatic play stage and puppets downstairs, to the 2nd floor of art and crafts, clay, and paint, to a cozy room with more imagination! Nowa days our overscheduled and overstimulated children need to start using their imaginations. We have only been living here for a few months so we are still finding out about all these cool places. Brought my nephew and niece to Art Beast. What a wonderful concept. For $8/person it was a deal! They can paint, craft, movement, music, outdoor discovery. They were immediately immersed themselves in painting and crafting. The staff was wonderful and before we knew it -- 2 hours had passed. Masterpieces in hand, we ventured out to see what midtown Sacramento had for us. I truly don't know why someone would give this place 3 stars. I wish I had that at my house! Cons - no parking. You have to park in the one or two hour spots. It would be nice if they had a parking lot so you can stay longer. ArtBeast is like the physical manifestation of a child's imagination. All the tools needed for a little one to create, explore and imagine our housed within its walls. The hardest thing you'll have to do is show up and enjoy them enjoying everything this studio has to offer! My parents bought me a pass that acts as a ticket which they punch for every visit you and your child make. Every kid must be supervised, so each visit counts as two punches for you and them. I'd heard many a story about this being a place with a lot for him to do, but seeing it in person beat my expectations. At first my son (now almost 3) was completely overstimulated, running from the paints to the play-doh to the firetruck to the sand to the paints again. And that's all on one floor. After a while he settled in to work on some projects and even made some friends along the way. There are three indoor floors in total, all with different offerings from musical instruments to legos and blocks and everything in between. But perhaps his favorite place was out back, where we played with tractors in the sand for hours. I love this place because my son loves this place. And as long as ArtBeast keeps him happy, you've got a happy customer in me. read more

This feels like a house converted to a play place for little kids. Plenty of activities for them to explore and use their imaginations. Music room with dress up downstairs, arts and crafts second floor - they have painting, clay, drawings, etc... They have outside area for them to play with water, an upstairs for Legos and there is a blocked off room for crawling babies. We went when there was a birthday party going on, so it was crowded. Some things looked a little old, and a little dirty, but this a kids dream palace so I can't really take stars away from that. Our boys are beasties with memberships and of all the places we are members in sac (which is basically everywhere) we find ourselves at artbeast 1-2x/week. Drumcircle is a solidly good time. My boys never last the whole time. And that's ok. Puppets downstairs win out. And clay. And the birdseed and funnels. Nothing negative to say at all. Always greeted warmly. Took a day trip out to Sac and tried this place out for the first time. Lots of cool art projects for the kids to work on and some other play areas that my kids (3 & 5) were not as much into..but they were in love with the art section. I think the concept alone is awesome and would recommend for any friends traveling to the area. I know some reviews didn't think the pricing was right but if you consider how expensive it is to buy art supplies etc..... My only con is the place looked rundown and dirty..although the staff were constantly cleaning and tidying up (which I greatly appreciated) the place still seemed just rundown... read more

Best place to let the kids get dirty and creative. I have came a handful of times. We also got a Groupon monthly membership that was awesome. They usually have a few staff working quietly. The idea is outstanding they have a n outside area for the kids with water and sand and a small kitchen it's adorable I want it for my home. The building is three stories top is story time and infant area and birthday and class area and block room. Second level is main event in my opinion painting and clay and play dough and sand snow. Also a fire station themed room. Down stairs is dramatic play piano included dress up play clothes puppets. It's just a great experience to share with any small child. We as adults start playing ourselves it's just so hard to resist the experience. read more

Updating to 5 stars. Now that my daughter is older, she is getting much more use out of the space, and it's money well spent. Plus I hadn't previously done my research on what Art Beast benefits, and I'm happy to support such a worthy cause. ---- It saddens me to give only three stars because ArtBeast represents so much that I think is important in raising a child. For me it came down to two things, in order: 1. Price. $8 for my 1 1/2 year old. Okay, seems steep, but sure, it's geared at children, so I should have expected to pay full price for her even though she's under two. But then they broke the news that it would also cost ME $8 to enter. This is absurd and bad business. Is there an option to leave your toddler unattended? Because if not, just say that the price of admission is $16 and the parent who HAS TO BE THERE WITH THEM doesn't pay. Saying admission is $8 just seems false. I didn't even have a chance to glue my own pom poms on a paper. 2. For the price, I would expect everything to be immaculate and updated. It generally had the feeling of playing with toys at the public library. Granted, there were MANY more options than you'd find at the library and they were sorted into different play spaces, which was lovely, but but for the price you pay I would expect clean costumes and stuffed animals, etc Again, I love the idea, but opportunities were missed in in the execution, my opinion. read more

Place is great if you want to stay with your little one at the arts and crafts section -it's the brightest, most ventilated place with windows and clear walls. Unfortunately, had a very unpleasant time letting my toddler play in all the other rooms. From the moment you come in, there's a mildew/mold odor, so strong that I almost asked the employee if I could crack a window. The surfaces have a sticky feel, the toys (especially the dalmatians in the fire truck area) are VERY dirty, brown color instead of white ( I actually had to hide from my LO so he didnt play with them). I would bet that this place has NEVER been deep-cleaned. Employees seem to do their fair share of keeping the place tidy, but management really needs to step up and deep-clean the place if they're going to cater to little ones from age 0 to 6. Very disappointing to see the state of the place as we were really excited to visit. Even the stairs as you come up on first are super dirty, and you know it's been a while since they saw a good wash, if ever. Basement... nope, didn't even attempt to play there. I share this because it could be a great place, and I think other parents should start voicing up more these concerns if they have them. Im sure employees would appreciate a cleaner environment too! I'd like to keep bringing my kid here, and probably will given the crafts section was fine. But man did this detract from the experience! read more

I recently held my sobs 3rd birthday here. The staff and party host were more than accommodating! The art beast works to reduce there carbon footprint and offers real plates, glasses, and flatware which gives a toddler party a nice touch. I love the concept of this place. It is a bit expensive, true, I don't think caretakers or parents should have to pay $8.00 as we aren't there to use any of your supplies, the kids are. With that being said, my girlfriends with kids have something fun to do and the Aunties (us) can come along and are happy to pay $8 just to hang and help out with the wee ones. As for the naysayers. I noticed that there were a few of you over-bearing controlling moms around when we were there...you know the kind that can't just let there kids be creative...they instead have to moderate and mediate and modulate everything and then...complain. You are my least favorite people. They should have a no control- freak clause at the door. For everyone else, try it out! You don't have to go every month but it I am an adult and I kind of wish I would have had this kind of place in my hood when we were kids. We got tons of ideas when were there for things to make at home because that kind of open environment is inspiring to say the least. Art, music, dance, crafts...pretty darn cool! The only thing that would make this place better would be if they served fresh sushi and offered free neck massages. This place is ridiculous! In such a way way fantastic fashion that it practically defies what the brain of an adult can handle. Artbeast - where the heck were you when I was a child? WHERE WERE YOU?? Goodness this place is fun! I especially love the space ship downstairs with all the bells and whistles, from the bucket seats, to the awesome steering wheel...thingy, and the switches and knobbies and doohickies and STUFF! (must settle down now) After playing downstairs we went to the middle floor where you can make stuff and there was playdoh that smelled like bananas..yum and a station with cardboard squares, glue, salt and colored liquid. While my niece made something for her Daddy, I made something for my Daddy!! Cause we're going to Grampa's house tonight and I want to show my Poppa what a big girl I am (yes I am a 37 year old playing with glue and salt, what of it! it's fun!! you know you want to join!!) Then we went to the top floor and played with the hoola hoops and balance beam. And then we went outside!!! In the backyard there was even more stuff to do!!! Jeesh this place never ends! Since my last review and first visit, we've been back so many times... We did it. Annual members, right here. Check out the pricing on the website above- well worth it. We've been three times this week, and that's without the classes (next week we're gonna brave the ballet/tap class, even if I have to wear a leotard myself- read: no.) It's cool to come in, grab a cup of coffee or tea, and start crafting/painting/sculpting. They've done well, and have even given ME ideas for home. They're very creative, and the teachers I've spoken to (I did a craft with one while my kid painted the wall) are chill. Outside is fun no matter weather, and there is soooo much to do, it helps when you're not feeling like a Social Sally that day (sometimes I just want to relax with a book or lose my mind with the scented play dough) it's a great place for then kid in your life to build social skills, plus, they're open everyday. I dunno, I don't get the hype. I have been here twice now with our toddlers and I have been underwhelmed twice. My complaints are that the space is just too small for all the stuff they are trying to do there. I get it - of course, you want lots of different things for the little short attention span boogers but each room is so small and you cram all this stuff and all these toddlers in there...ughh....getting anxious just thinking about the agoraphobia! Well, my second complaint, like the others is simply the admission. We have a 4, 2, and 1 year old. Add both parents and we are paying $32 (one extra adult is free). $8 for my 1 yr and 1 month old? I mean, he may drool on some supplies but that's about it. $32 is a lot for a few hours of entertainment for the kids. Last, the staff is not too excited about being there. But I can surely understand working in a cramped, overcrowded, modified old house with a billion toddlers can really wear on you. By the time you clean up one area, go use the bathroom and come back, that same area is probably a mess too. I don't think I will be back just due to my self diagnosed agoraphobia. read more

If you haven't taken your little ones (10 and under) to ArtBeast yet....well...it is high time to correct that. There is art to be made, and, let's face it, babies/toddlers/children are great artists. Bring a set of grubby clothes for the kids, because they are going to get some paint, clay, glitter, glue and sand on them. It was our first time here, but it definitely won't be our last. **Great use of space; there are plenty of different activities, yet the space doesn't feel crowded. **Friendly, helpful, but not overbearing staff. They do an incredible job at keeping the space neat and orderly. **The classes are awesome, make sure you check the schedule. **The outdoor space is great. **Check out the awesome merchandise by the front counter, much of which is made by local artists. **The admission price is totally fair for what you get, and ArtBeast is a non-profit, all of the proceeds go back into ArtBeast or to the Tubman House, an organization that helps homeless youth and children. So, yeah, your kids will have a blast, you'll have a blast, you'll be helping out homeless youth. I mean, really, it's a win-win. read more

So much kid fun!!! Paint, glue, messy stuff that other people clean up = amazing! This place was only $8/kid, which isn't bad considering you use as much supplies as you want. And the staff keep the place tidy throughout. They clean up without making you feel rushed or bothersome. Just trying to Lee a good reusable space for guests. Perfect. Plus, profits go toward a social cause nonprofit which just makes you feel twice as good about going because 1) your kid is having a blast. And 2) you're supporting other women and families. This was great. It's a 3 1/2 story space full of love and art. All of the money you might spend here goes to Tubman House, a home for young homeless parents, and what you get is so much more. And yeah, we went on a crowded Friday afternoon on a rainy day, and it was still awesomeness. It reminded me of Art From Scrap in Santa Barbara, as well as the Stockton Children's Museum, but it felt more "owned and loved", more "community" than those other two places. The basement: every corner something exciting is happening, from the Dress Up clothes, to the Puppet Theater, to the Tin Can Castle, to the Nasa Pod, to the Stage with instruments, to the quiet dollhouse. Your kid could come here with no friends, and still have a good time dressing up and trying to climb the padded trees. The welcome room: cubbies, coffee for the moms and dads, friendly desk staff, tee shirts and other goodies to buy. The Art Space: little tables full of frills, craft supplies, letters, glue, etc. Sit down and make something. Or head over to the Moon Sand table and get lost in your own thoughts (like my kid did for about an hour, until I dragged her away.) Or paint on the wall. Or paint at an easel. Or get some clay under your fingernails. You could opt, on a nice day, to head out to the garden where there appears to be interactive sculptures and lots of seating. Or head into the room adjacent...where there is a: Loft: climb away. Pretend you have a little house. Pretend you are king/queen/kid of the castle. Jingle jangle the wall sculpture. My kid did not like the smell in here, but it smelled to me like beeswax wood treatment. Knowing Bridget from a past life, it probably was. Upstairs: a wacky room we did not explore, and a dance floor/mirrored space that looks welcoming. They were doing a class in there that Beanie was not keen on (I wanted to head in, I saw people making Pirate Ships with masking tape and toilet paper rolls.) But we headed down to Moon Sand. And then we made it down to the drama/puppet room, where we stayed. Mommy read old Bon Appetit magazine editions and drank organic coffee, Beanie ran around in a red tutu and tried to talk other kids out of wearing the dress up shoes so she could wear them, jumped around on the stage, sang, played with puppets, did a little shimmy in the castle, changed clothes 4X, and I finally got her out of there by telling her I was going to get a parking ticket, and I was going to pay it by raiding her piggy bank. Just joined this gem of a place. You cannot beat $48 monthly for unlimited access 9-6 daily for endless art, play and imaginative opportunities for my little ones. (This price is upon signing one year contract.) We have already been 3 times and my 4 year old joined the Saturday yoga class and fell in love. Definitely geared toward under six, but our well behaved ten year old is welcome too on our family membership. My 4 year old has already made a few cute projects too, their supplies are fantastic. Also, what's better than a wall to paint on for kiddo??? Sure cant do that at home!!!! ;) To top it off it is a non profit benefitting a great cause- ArtBeast will be seeing a lot more of us!!!! read more

If you have a kid under 7 or you yourself feel like a kid under 7 you need to go here. This place has everything a kid wants and needs to be creative and then some. Kids and adults can get lost in their imagination and spend the entire day here just being creative. I think I brought home a ton of stuff my son painted or made while we were here. He wore himself out and still talks about when we went. I plan on taking him more often as he loves it here and so do I. On top of this they give proceeds to a charity call the tubman house.
