The burger was cooked nicely, the bun was soft, and the bacon was flavorful and crispy if not particularly thick-cut. In 2012, the business wanted to expand beyond the state of North Carolina and opted to change the restaurant's name to Hwy 55 Burgers, Shakes & Fries and began their expansion outside of North Carolina when they opened their first location outside of North Carolina in May of that year. They have over a hundred locations now, though they are still strongest in North Carolina. The menu is pretty straightforward with burgers, cheesesteaks, fries, milkshakes and the other items that you would expect from a fast casual burger place trying to capture a 1950's type diner feel. There is nothing wrong with such a simple menu. Hey, who doesn't love a good burger. For a rating, I am going to give this particular location of Hwy 55 Burgers, Shakes & Fries five stars.
