In a Facebook Newcomers to Ottawa group I asked where to get a sage bundle to smudge our new (to us) home in Ottawa. This was the first recommended store and I went the very next day. They definitely had sage bundles and much more. I got a lavender and sage bundle, an abalone shell, and at the insistence of the kind woman who helped me. "We use feathers," she explained. "And no lighters. We use wooden matches, and not the ones from the roller store." She was so sincere. I'm excited to conduct a more authentic smudging than ever before because of the insight I was provided in this brief exchange. She said goodbye with a "Welcome to Ottawa!" I have been going there for years and have taken some pics put have not posted them except on Facebook. It is a family owned and run store for the last twenty years. I almost never write reviews but simply had to for this. After living and working in the area for a decade and as a big fan of Native crafts since my University days, I have (sadly) just discovered this gem. After 2 visits (and 2 great purchases) they didn't have a CD I was looking for. That didn't stop the lady there from trying to find it for me (repeatedly) SOMEWHERE else. Wow, how many times has that ever happened? For me... Never. Professionally, I plan parties and events for a large corporation where I get to meet hundreds of people - many of them come from out of town/province/country. They frequently ask me where they can go to get authentic, quality, Canadian gifts to bring back home to their loved ones.
