I think there are only 2 benches side by side, but you can always sit down on a concrete part near the pool. In fact, it was the perfect spot when the ice cream truck came on the street behind it and played it's song. We ran towards it. It was the perfect treat for the summer...and by the pool! Great for kids. They even get card now a days :D Very friendly families so kids can play with each other and share toys :)

The…read moreland and house is still owned by family and the Dahl Playfield is a nearby field of choice when going for a walk from the house. When my mom was growing up this was a playfield she visited. In my lifetime, the Dahl Playfield has been a place I have visited for sports and as a place to go and meander and/or play with my family. The playfield is much greener than it used to be, the wading pool has remained the same. The skate park is a relatively new addition. It is not a park where I have felt unsafe in my visits. In my experience the fields, trails, wading pool, and playground have all been well maintained. There is a parking lot where you can park your vehicle if driving to the park on the 25th Avenue NE side of the park. My mom and my most recent visit to the playfield on 23 June 2020 after visiting the Wedgwood house we walked through the park and reminisced about how it has changed over the years. Lots of kiddos when we visited, tis the summer season though.

Plus there's a nice coffee shop nearby or you could stop off at Ezell's for some fried chicken and make a picnic out of it.

I may be thinking too much into it although she was talking to someone else and right next to us, but it did kind of seem like it was directed towards us. I would just recommend checking in public hours as the other hours are for the preschool attendees.

We came during Christmas break so there was no one there. After an hour of play we did see about three other families playing all wearing masks. My toddler loved running around the place. There were chickens to say hi to and a cool red truck he could sit in. The musical instruments were fun for him to bang on as well as jumping on the balls and hill. There is actually a basketball court right next to it so you could actually bring older kids and have a game. Wear rain boots as it can get a bit muddy during the winter months. Highly recommend coming here for great imaginative play.

It's large enough for dogs to run around, but not super large like Magnuson or Westcrest. The ground is made up of small wood chips, which my dog seems to like a lot better than the stones at Regrade Off-Leash Park. The crowd also seems to be a little more dog-friendly than Regrade, which is closer to my home but sometimes attracts people who just want to hang out and not follow dog park etiquette. There is no water in the park. There is sometimes a bowl full of water, but there's no running water to refill it or anything. I know the park is new, I'm not sure if they plan to add water later. I've also seen a raccoon down in the parking lot, which is located behind Queen Anne Upholstery. Apparently there's a "cat lady" who puts out cat food that attracts the raccoons, but I'm a little wary of raccoons that are out looking for food during the day. That's just something to watch out for. My dog has her rabies shot, but why mess around? Finally, it's really difficult to get into the parking lot from Elliott. When you turn onto West Mercer, you can't turn into the parking lot because there's a divider in the street. I end up going up the hill and making a u-turn to come back down the hill and make a right into the parking lot. This isn't the best scenario, but I don't really have a better plan yet. Still, worth it. My dog loves this park, it's a good size for her, it's close to home and she loves running around with the other dogs!

But especially for children. There aren't a lot of great park/playground options for kids in this area, and unfortunately Kinnear park is also not a great environment for kids. There's only one swingset and nothing else... no playground, no pavement to ride bikes/scooters/etc on, no water park, nothing. A playground would do wonders for this park. Then additionally there are homeless people essentially camping out in the park, and it's probably not the safest place to be at night either. Also there's no great way to go from Olympic down to Elliott, as you are forced to walk a long and circuitous path. A more direct switchback path or staircase going down would be a great investment, especially for the shops on Elliott, which today are fairly isolated from residential Queen Anne traffic. One thing that I do like about this park is it size and walking paths that are available if you want to go for a short hike.

It's a great little park -- there are always kids and families playing on the playground, and there's a lot of open space. There are conveniently located public restrooms. I love that the park isn't on a main road and it's surrounded by trees, so it always stays fairly quiet. The only thing is that the parking lot is soooooo small (~20 spaces) so you have to fight for street parking. Maybe once the school renovations are complete, there will be more parking available?

The park is actually pretty clean aside for some urban camping going on in one corner of the park. There is a lot of playground equipment for the kids to enjoy as well as a playing field so this park definitely has all of the basics covered as to what makes up a park. It just isn't one of the parks with a lot of bells and whistles ( ex. leash free dog park, swimming pool, etc.). Despite not having a lot of walking trails in this park it is still a decent park to take a stroll through. There is a piece of playground equipment with a troll statue on it... definitely not to be confused with the Fremont Troll.

The play area itself and equipment for toddlers and kids were not that much to do or play around on or with, so I'd probably never come back here again for the purpose of getting a kid to play. This place has the potential for re-invigoration 'tho.
