Extremely unethical practices. They basically lied to me and my mother and performed unnecessary procedures. I would highly advise you to stay away. Honestly, I've heard enough horror stories from this place, that I realized I'm doing a public disservice by not sharing a particularly traumatic experience about 7 years ago, when I was not a legal adult. My mother asked that I get sealant on my molars. Instead the dentist's hygienist "sanded down" my healthy teeth and then the dentist put unnecessary fillings in them! That is not sealant! I just switched over to this office from another dentist, because of all of their "cool new technology." Although I didn't have any cavities according to Dr. Sullivan, my mother asked about sealants on my teeth to prevent any cavities due to her fear of lidocaine given my neuromuscular illness. The dentist said he could put sealant in and would recommend it to prevent cavities. I was concerned during the process and asked that they stop to explain how this was sealant given that it felt like they were drilling my teeth, rather than cleaning them, but they wouldn't stop given that I was only 17 at the time, and told me not to worry that they had to make sure the sealant wasn't on top of any bacteria (this makes no sense in retrospect given that bacteria is literally everywhere). They told me this was regular procedure for sealant (lies). But it was only after the procedure, when we got the bill for thousands of dollars, that we realized he put fillings in, not sealant. We went to another dentist later, who said it wasn't sealant but fillings. I now have to get them replaced soon as one does with all regular fillings to prevent decay (with lidocaine). During the procedure, the dentist even called someone about buying something for his boat. After which fact, I should have jumped out of my chair and ran out. I know have a terrible fear of dentists, which I never had before, and I have to replace fillings on teeth that would not have otherwise needed fillings. read more

Office suddenly closed with no notice or explanation leaving a family member in debt after they took a large loan out for dental work. They already took payment before the work was completed and now they have disappeared. My family member is in severe pain from the work not being completed and now has no way to pay someone else to finish the job. They should be investigated for embezzlement. They even had a county utilities shut off notice at the charlevoix facility. read more

I had not been to a dentist in many years when I first went to Beacon Dental and had to have a lot of work. $10,000 and 2 years later I finally had the work complete. I had several teeth pulled and 2 impants with a partial plate. Loved the end result but getting there was a nightmare, think I saw them more than my own kids. The first partial that was made was horrible, when I went down to my fathers funeral one of the teeth fell out while I was eating, upon my return I went to the office and after explaining what happened I was pretty much accused of dropping it, which was not the case. The partial then began to wear pretty bad about a year into the process and had to be entirely remade with another lab, at no expense to me but had to start all over with the fittings and that's why it took 2 years which I think is totally ridiculous. The day I went in to have my teeth pulled I had to go to their Gaylord office, after getting there I was asked if I had eaten breakfast, which I had, and if I had a driver, which I didn't, appears that someone had not given me the instructions for having teeth pulls so I had to reschedule, On numerous scheduled appointments I would get calls to change my appointments, it became regular practice, seems like they spend a lot of days at their other office in Gaylord, I had originally gone to them because they were a a local office but over time they seemed to never be around and I really wanted a in town dentist. Several of the gals in the office were wonderful and sympathetic to the fact that it was taking so long but all in all I was very unhappy with the long drawn out process, very unprofessional, and very, very expensive. read more

If you are looking for a dentist, do not choose this dentist office. My Mother needed dentures and chose this dentist. She made several trips to this office for impressions. Upon final receipt of her dentures they did not fit properly. Over the course of an entire year she went back several times and this dentist was never able to get her dentures to fit so she could wear them. In fact, another dentist looked at them and said they looked like they were made for someone else! When we went back to the dental office regarding this, they told us there was nothing they could do and refused to give her a refund and said they would have to remade which would take several more trips and more $$. Now my Mother is out $2500 for dentures she cannot wear and insurance will not cover another set. This dentist apparently has no problem taking advantage of Senior Citizens and does not stand by their workmanship. I would never recommend this place! read more
