I contacted Hibiscus Dental to schedule what should have been a simple, routine semi-annual…read morecleaning, and unfortunately the experience left me with more questions than confidence. My initial call was straightforward--the receptionist told me the earliest available appointment for a cleaning was May 7th, which I was perfectly fine with. However, when I called back, (we got disconnected) I was given completely different information by another staff member. I was offered an appointment for the very next day, but with the caveat that a cleaning would not be guaranteed. I was told I would first need X-rays and a full evaluation, and only after that would they determine what type of cleaning I "might" need. I made it clear that I was simply looking for a standard cleaning. I've had extensive recent dental work, including veneers, and I'm very familiar with my dental health. I also work with a cosmetic dentist I trust, so this wasn't a case of neglect or uncertainty on my end. What really raised a red flag for me was being told that even if I waited for the later appointment (May 7th), there was still no guarantee I would actually receive a cleaning during that visit. That's highly unusual. In my experience, both locally and elsewhere, a routine cleaning appointment is just that--scheduled, straightforward, and completed in one visit without unnecessary hurdles. The inconsistency between staff members, combined with the lack of clarity around something as basic as a cleaning, made the process feel unnecessarily complicated. It also gave the impression that the visit could turn into something more than what was initially requested, which felt more like a setup for potential upselling than a patient-centered approach. For patients who simply want a predictable and efficient routine cleaning, this may not be the right fit. Personally, I prefer a dental office that respects both my time and the purpose of my visit.

When I walked into his office, I quickly understood why. You're greeted by a felonious looking receptionist with a painted-on smile. She hadn't made my acquaintance before, so she looked at me with curious eyes. "New patient?" she asked. Puh-lease. My kid checked himself in and I walked around to explore the office. This guy had two fabulously large salt-water aquariums with the largest overfed Nemos I had ever seen. In the rear of his office, there was a ten by twenty-foot room filled with the greatest arcade games from the twentieth century - all free, and all unlimited play. I didn't want to leave. Ever. We got called back into the exam area way too quickly. My sixty-pound youngster practically had to pull me away from the Ms. Pac Man machine. His office was a maze of brightly colored exam rooms with not-so-friendly dental hygienists. She attempted to ignore me as I addressed the questions my child snubbed, but that poor soul soon found I am not one to be ignored. My son sat down and she did her thing. One thing they miss in all dental aide schools is communication skills. You can't ask patients questions while you have a sharp object in their mouth and expect them to answer. Miss Not-So-Happy finished with her x-rays and announced the dentist would be over shortly. Num-num stayed in the chair and played with the suction straw. Dr. Mike finally danced over and pounced on the small rolling stool adjacent to Num-num's exam chair. The dentist asked the same exact standard small-talk questions that he asked to the last four kids. Num-num had his answers ready before he asked, and he spewed them out. The doctor was surprised to find my kid had no cavities, and probably wouldn't need braces. But he did offer some very sage advice - brush those teeth at least twice a day, and for two minutes each time, or he'll be taking his teeth out at night and putting them into the dishwasher. I had told my kid how important that teeth brushing thing really is, but like most kids, parental advice is always shunned as a nag. However, now that a stranger told him the same exact thing, my advice suddenly became gospel. Twelve year-olds have no concept of the potential pitfalls of poor dental hygiene. Happy Dr. Mike painted a picture for him. Four stars for Dr. Mike's professionalism, life advice, and the arcade games. Dinged one for the not-so-friendly hygienists. Work on that, ladies.

This filling was done in 2022 and they are just now trying to get me to pay it 2 years later. They do not care about their patients, or their customers. Good job guys! If I could leave negative stars I would! Stay away!! I would also like to include that my two sons also relayed to me that the assistant was very rude to them. My younger son was crying because he was in pain, they told him to stop being a baby and to be quiet. They do not allow parents to go back with the childern. My older son was asked a question about how his braces felt and he took a minute to answer and the assistant told him to hurry up and not waste her time. They made him feel very uncomfortable. He was thinking how to explain his discomfort and they treated him like trash. A complaint was filed with the BBB and lawyers are involved. I hope this bad review will bring awareness. the customers deserve better. Their customer service is horrible. Please read the prior bad reviews ...... this is how they operate!

Dr Milo is extremely rude and unprofessional and so is his front desk staff. My daughter was crying because she had to have a tooth pulled and she was nervous. They tried to enforce the need of Nitrous even though I stated I did not want her to have it because it makes her sick. They sent her away and would not treat her because we refused Nitrous. Dr Milo told my husband it is a complicated procedure but then told him he could easily get my daughters tooth out at home. My husband took her to the appointment and when I called to ask about what happened they refused to give me information. Dr Milo got on the phone and told me to talk to my husband and that I may not be who I actually am (even though they already verified me when they answered the phone) after I explained that to him he told me he does not owe me anything and hung up on me. He then called my husband to let him know that a woman who claimed to be his wife called and it didn't go well. This is not the first incident we had. A few weeks ago my other daughter (who is 9) was given Nitrous for a tooth pulled and it was rushed. She was in and out of the room with treatment within 30 minutes and threw up in the lobby on the floor. She has had Nitrous at a different dentist a few times with no issues but the appointments were much longer and they gave her time to come off the gas. When Dr Milo came out to the lobby he scolded my husband for having a drink in "his lobby" before addressing my daughter vomiting on the floor. This office should not treat children or adults for that matter. They are rude and have zero bedside manner. If you would like more proof of the terrible office just look at all the reviews on yelp and everywhere else. I will be pursuing this matter further along with other people and their complaints!

There were no complications and recovery was fairly quick for me (I also applied DMSO for faster healing.) I was shown what possible complications could potentially occur during surgery and what those options would be (just in case) before commitments were made. Everything went well and the contingencies were not needed. I did not have covering insurance, but the costs were not any more than my in-network insurance dentists had quoted. The latter may also be a reflection upon unscrupulous in-network dentists (name withheld) refusing to grant treatments without agreeing to unnecessary procedures, it is worth noting that I didn't have any unneeded options being pressed with this dentist, and I appreciate that honesty and professionalism. For the dentist and staff, thank you. There were no problems requiring follow-up!

I made an appointment for a tooth extraction. I was told that the office did not take my insurance but they would file the claim on my behalf. I understood that I would be required to pay for the services upfront which I did. The amount changed from what I had been quoted but did not argue with this. After 6 weeks I had not received reimbursement from my insurance so I called and was told that the payment was made to the dentist. I then called Beachside Oral Surgery and was told that it takes a while for them to reconcile their payments. It is now December 22nd and I have not received any payment. My appointment was during the first week of September. I have called and left messages but no one from this office has returned my calls. They received payment by me and insurance which is crazy. My only recourse now is to file suit against the dentist. I do not recommend this practice.

Warning: Stay far away from this dentist…read more What happened to proper safety? I had X-rays done here with no protective collar--I didn't even know I was supposed to have one until I looked it up online. That's unacceptable and unsafe. If they're cutting corners on basic protection, imagine what else they're skipping behind the scenes. I was highly disappointed in the services I received from this dentist. They advertise themselves like some high-end office, but it's nothing more than a money trap. They don't actually take discount insurance--you have to pay in full and "hope" they bill it correctly later. Once they've got your money, good luck seeing it again. The staff even complained about insurance and discount plans right in front of me, basically blaming patients for not being able to afford their inflated prices. $2,100 for one crown, $282 for a cleaning, $350 for two small fillings--outrageous. And no in-house financing, either. I came in with a chipped tooth and asked if they could fill it for now since I couldn't afford a crown. The dentist refused, calling it "unethical." What's really unethical is refusing to help someone in pain unless they pay top dollar. The whole experience was miserable. The X-rays were rushed and painful, one of the instruments smelled awful (which made me question their sanitation), and the assistant acted like she couldn't care less. I've also had a bad experience here before with a wisdom tooth extraction--it was terrible compared to Dr. Burns, who actually knows what he's doing. This place hides behind a fancy building and inflated prices while draining patients dry. If you value your safety, money, and basic respect, avoid this office at all cost.
