We had a fun time with Jules today visiting a number of sites around Maui. She communicated well with the person in our group who arranged our tour with her so we were right where she needed us to be to be picked up from our ship. There were 4 of us and we fit nicely in her suburban. She took great care of the one of us who uses a walker. She is knowledgeable about the island and was full of information. Jules and Jim are fantastic! Jim was so patient with us! He was ready to pick us up when we had to delay our departure from the airport due to a lost bag. We had a 2 stop drop off. One couple was staying at the Wailea Marriott. We dropped them off first, other family were staying there as well. They came to say hi on our way to the Andaz. Jim had no problem waiting while we gave our grandson a hug and a kiss and made plans for the next day. At the end of our stay, he was right on time to take us back to the airport. You've probably heard by now about the shortage of rental cars on the island, and of the long waits for an Uber. When I needed to get from Nipili Bay to Kihei on a particular day by a particular time, I tried to schedule an Uber, which didn't fly, and thought I might resort to a group airport shuttle just to make sure I had something available. Then I found Beachin Rides Maui, a new local business. I contacted them after hours with an email through their website, and they followed up the next day. Jules was very accommodating with clear communication. She sent a text confirmation after the call, and in my case, another text the night before the scheduled ride. I love having these checks to make sure a plan is in place. The ride was nice---I'm terrible with car types, but it was a big SUV with soft seats and an easy ride. She was a delight to talk to and the ride down to Kihei was over before I knew it. Priced slightly higher, I think, than an Uber might have been, but the money stays local (unlike Uber and Lyft), and I felt like the scheduled door-to-door service, quality of the ride and customer service were completely worth it. Beachin Rides started as a way to schedule a round-trip ride to the beach, equipment, sand and all, and I only wish I had found them sooner, because I would have used them when I was carless for a couple of snorkel excursions farther north. Where do I start? Uber & Lyft are scarce here. It's strange and extremely busy Covid times. No taxis available with 3 hours until our flight leaves. It's an hour alone to get to the airport so I'm stressin. Jewel answers the phone and shoots right over to pick us up. I have never appreciated a business so so much. One of the best rides ever. Highly recommend Beachin Rides , especially right now with the rental car prices/shortages . I set up our airport pick up / drop off with Jules and she made the whole process simple and stress free! Jim was at the airport right on time and gave us a smooth ride to the hotel with lots of great suggestions! At the end of our trip he was at the hotel to pick us up with plenty of time to get to the airport and check in which is about a 2 1/2 hour process right now ! I hired Beachin' Rides Maui for myself because I wanted to give my (now) husband a "first look" experience for our elopement. The communication between them during the planning phase was very personable yet professional, even when I had a change in location as we got closer to the date. They were punctual and exactly where I needed them to be the day of my wedding. Little did I know that I'd be a nervous wreck during my pickup! Jules was very sweet and calming, she talked to me to calm my nerves my whole 1-hour ride and even kept her cool when my wedding assistant was giving us horrible directions. My family of four used Beachin Rides for transportation from our hotel in Kaanapali to the Kahului Airport. Jules was our driver and she was awesome. We are kind of a shy group, but we had a great conversation with her and the 45 minute drive just flew by. She drove us in a very nice black Suburban SUV so there was plenty of room for all of us and our two weeks worth of luggage. When I called to make the reservation, she answered promptly and was extremely friendly. She then texted later to confirm and texted again the night before our ride. We really appreciated the great communication. You can't reserve XL ride-shares on the island, so being able to reserve a nice ride ahead of time and pay just about the same (maybe a little more, but not much) was well worth it.
