We tried several places and were getting nowhere with his therapy. He was even "let go" from a few places because they couldn't figure out how to get him to cooperate! It was unbelievable and I was so discouraged. Finally, we discovered South Coast Therapy. What a difference! There was no threat of "letting him go" due to non-compliance in any of their paperwork or sign up protocol and they were extremely supportive of his needs! After meeting Grace for OT the first time, I knew that she not only cared about what she was doing and about him, but she had the correct tools and techniques to help regulate him and motivate him to work/play! At this center, you get a scheduled time and get to see the same therapist (I know some places, don't provide a slot and you have to keep calling or you get different therapists or assistants to the therapist) at each appointment. This is HUGE for kids like my son who need routine and relationship to move forward. The less change the better when it comes to his therapy! However, if you have to reschedule or if they don't have a standing appt. at start up, they are great at helping you find a day and time that will work and ALL of their therapists are just as well trained and efficient in getting through the behaviors. We have been there for 5 years now and my son is thriving! He is learning life skills such as how to brush and floss his teeth, put on his shoes, bathe, zip up a zipper, close and open a button and so much more. The best part is...he LOVES going and he loves Ms. Grace! If you have a child that has been getting nowhere in their therapy or is being "tolerated" rather than loved, seen, and cared for... you have found your new therapy center! Your child will learn to do things here and get past the difficult times! You will not be disappointed!

He thrives here. He's made so much progress with both gross motor skills and occupational skills! He gets physical therapy from Byn and Jonathan who are the best!!! You have the option of sending your child in for 2xs or 3xs or 4xs or the full the week. The cost to send your child there is extremely reasonable. I was so surprised! Their school schedule is like Centralia's school schedule and has summer school as an option. The only reason why my son has not enrolled yet is my son is receiving certain services from our insurance that is practically the whole day. Once those services go away, we certainly enroll him. I believe they have 39 beds. We met Dominic Bastone, the Administrator. He listened to our story (unlike the other facilities) and said they had a bed available. We were so happy that we found a place near us so we could see him every single day. Because we saw him everyday, we saw how great the staff was at their job. Raquel, Malou, Bree, Ed, Lou, Chris, Maira and many more, and even Alex who did maintenance was unbelievably helpful. Another employee, who had a garden in back, gave us some vegetables.​​​ it started to feel like they were family. More importantly, Randy felt like it was home. We would highly recommend this facility if your loved one needs short or longterm care.

They have an outdoor courtyard where patients and visitors can relax, eat their meals outside if they want, or even take a nap. There is a curfew, but if you need to stay longer, they will accommodate that. Just be aware that if a patient has medication given at the hospital, unfortunately that medication cannot transfer over to rehab. Stanley does not have its own pharmacy, so it can take a while for nurses to get a new supply from an outside pharmacy. That said, they really do their best to get it first thing in the morning, and it is not Stanley's fault given the gap in the healthcare system (pay attention to this health administrators). The level of care, compassion, and professionalism shown by everyone at Sun Mar is truly remarkable. No matter the situation, their staff consistently go above and beyond for their patients. Every issue was addressed and resolved in a timely and caring manner, and my dad's needs were always their top priority. From the nurses and physical therapists to the staff who assisted with meals, bathing, and medication, every single person played an important role in my dad's recovery. The staff are friendly, helpful and hardworking. Even the non-Korean staff have learned to speak Korean, which is impressive!
