He contacted me and told me that they were giving me a new bottle of i black. He did mention that they clean out the cabinet where they store the lotion every 6months but from what the computer stated. i wasn't inactive for 6months. Happy New Year! This Message was suppose to be posted about a month ago, I wanted to treat my bf to a Tanning session. I do believe Vitamin D which we can get through the sun, can make anyone look and feel better in most cases. Both My Bf and I were very nervous going in, because A. It was our first time, and B. I rarely post reviews, but this time I felt it was something I should do. I was new to tanning and nervous about it. I had no idea of how it worked. Upon walking in I immediately was greeted by the nicest people. Every employee said Hello with a smile. The store was very clean & Decorated nicely. The sales girl was very knowledgeable and explained every package and service that they had to offer. I ended up buying a package and a lotion. I'm so happy I did. This beach bum is one of the largest I've seen. They have a good selection of beds, and they do airbrush tanning in this location as well. I usually buy the cheapest package, which is the lowest level bed. I haven't used those space-ship looking ones, but the lowest bed works pretty decent on me. You would think the staff is kind of...hmmm...typical long island girl-ish...which they totally are...but they are actually really nice!! One of the girls can be a little pushy with selling the higher level beds, which she was doing a damn good job at it, but I was set in my choice of a low level cheap bed. (I live on the north shore of long island ....I NEED to be on a budget) There are always towels handy, eye protective gear, and those stupid heart/peacesign/smileyface stickers you can put on your body if you are feeling frisky. I've had an airbrush tan done at this location as well. The girl was very professional and made me feel comfortable considering I was half naked in front of a stranger. She answered any questions I had with ease and confidence. Remember to tip those people who airbrush you!! read more

Used to be a good place but has gone down hill. Went in to tan before a wedding and chose the diamond bed that shouldve been mostly browning. I got freaking fried. Sunburn Lines all down my back. Plus the bed was old with broken knobs. read more

Honestly I don't know if it's a requirement on the job applications or what but over the 10 years I have been coming here the staff just becomes bitchier and bitchier every year. It's literally the rudest group of adolescents I have ever encountered. For 10 years I get the same package for the same price or cheaper and the girl tonight tried arguing with me about the price I have been paying for the last 10 years. To the point that she told me instead of giving me the price I have always paid I could take my business somewhere else. So that is exactly what I'm doing. Right to European on Willis avenue where the staff is polite and their beds are just as good for half the price. And I'll be sure to tell everyone to do the same. All of the employees are very friendly, personable, and not to mention beautiful!! They are all very helpful and I've never left the salon unhappy with the way I look. The airbrush technicians are all very professional and I basically trust them with my life when I'm in the airbrush room because I have to walk around doing life after they do their job! The staff are immature unprofessional and catty. I have a package from my queens location and I happen to be in the area so I stopped in. I had no idea there was a price difference. OMG! I have never had the most horrific experience here before and this really disappointed me being a new customer. I started going to Beach Bum just this month. In the beginning of the month I just did a sunless tan, and really got no results from it. Meanwhile, I was told that I would. Then I went in with a friend a second time and I bought the Titanium package of 3 tans figuring that I would be coming frequently. The gentleman that helped me was very thorough and nice and really listened to my concerns. He put me in a stand up that was very nice and airy. I liked it a lot. I came out with a nice healthy glow, and didn't have any burns whatsoever. Well....everything went down hill after that. I come back a week later, tonight...and I got soooo burnt!!!!! I never burn. It's only on very rare occasion that I do burn. I'm half Italian so my skin browns more than it does red. I was shocked by what happened to me tonight, since it is my second time coming. You would think I would burn the first time around. But nope! I came in this evening and this ditz was working and told me to go in room 2, someone was in room 2, then when the room freed up, I had to ask the girl if I should go in or if she was going to clean it. (UNPROFESSIONAL). Ew, why would I want to go in a dirty room. Then when I got in the tanning booth was super small and I felt like I was closer to the UV lights, and that's why I got burnt. I didn't show any signs of redness when I got out of the booth, nor was I in any pain. I came home and took a nap, got up and my entire body felt like leather... I looked at my legs and they were as red as a tomato (I have pictures). I am disgraced at what has happened and will be calling there first thing in the morning to get this rectified. I do not even want to come in for my third tanning session. I don't think I ever want to come back to this Beach Bum again! read more

Love their tanning beds and the fact that they have so many locations. I got my package in Long Island and can use it at any location even the city with a surcharge of 5 dollars. The only thing I must complain about is the overcharged packs of tanning lotion. Other tanning places charge up to 12 bucks for a single packet of lotion. Here I paid 22 dollars. That is way too much. Now I'm terrified of leaving my lotion home. Also the staff here doesn't say bye to you ever even if you yell it. read more

There's no place like Beach Bum in the little world of tanning. I've been going to numerous locations on Long Island and you simply can't beat the color here. You sure CAN beat these prices almost anywhere else but is it worth it? Why tan 10x a month? I enjoy stopping in once or twice a month to keep a nice healthy glow and get my dose of Vitamin D. I will keep coming back for that reason alone-- you just get a better tan. This location is decent compared to some of the other smaller stores. Whatever judge me. I'm a doctor. I tan. Best Beach Bum by far! I go here for my spray tans and they always come out perfect.. NO STREAKS and NO ORANGE! The place is always CLEAN and the staff are so friendly. Sean is the sweetest, most accommodating person ever! After running late to my spray tan appt. I cannot saying enough good things about this place. First off, when you enter the air smells like coconut and summer. The facility is immaculate. Everything is clean and maintained really well. You can tell the people that work there want their customers to feel comfortable! Initially, I was nervous going in, being a pale bride-to-be that's new to tanning, but Sean was incredibly friendly and patiently explained all of the packages to me. He is amazing!!! He did not try to force me to buy something I didn't need. I was impressed by the variety and different packages they offered, and I found one suited for me. I have a perfect summer glow for my wedding which is exactly what I wanted and the entire experience was oddly calming. The booth has music, and it offered a moment of calm for me to just relax during my never-ending busy day. I've definitely found my tanning place. I recommend this place to everyone! Probably my one and only favorite Beach Bum. Though it's not super close to home, I find myself coming back here often. I always walk in to a friendly & accommodating staff, and the airbrush always comes out looking awesome. I love how you can pick your shade, unlike the rest of these tanning salons that leave you looking ORANGE. They also have some good deals on them, and lucky for me the free airbrushes don't have an expiration date. Can't say I've had a bad experience. I tanned at the Greenvale location for the first and LAST time the other day. I've been tanning at Beach Bum for almost 10 years, and I've never encountered such rude employees and such dirty beds. They were too busy chatting away with each other to decide which of them were going to look me up in the computer, and when one finally did, I was immediately TOLD by her which room I would be tanning in, without her even asking me! I promptly responded no, I will be tanning in the bed I want to tan in. When I got in the room, there was no towel, which I know every other location, and almost every other tanning salon in general, always has for their customers, so I went back out and got one. Then I turned the bed on, to see that the acrylic was almost entirely chipped away in the area of the bed where people sweat the most, an obvious sign that these employees do NOT keep their beds CLEAN. The paint on the rest of the bed was also almost all chipped off as well. The bed I used is also a newer model, and I have used it in many other salons, never seeing it so unkept as this. The bulbs in the bed most likely had not been updated in a long time, because I normally get extremely hot in this bed, but didn't even work up a sweat at this location. I love Beach Bum, but I would NEVER tan at the Greenvale location again. read more

The prices may high but it's without a doubt the best place to tan and totally worth every penny. My only issue is that they don't allow reservations so if someone is in the bed I want, I either have to choose a different one or I'm stuck waiting until they are done. read more

I used to go to a tanning salon in port washington but they closed so i went into beach bum to give them a try and i am so happy i did! Melissa helped me and she was so nice to my husband and I. We went in to get a base tan for our trip and Melissa was so sweet and helped us pick out the best thing for us! She knew exactly what we needed to do and what kind of lotion to give to us. I am so disappointed with the treatment I received from this beach bum. My roommate went here to get a spray tan and had a good experience so since I had my cousin's wedding I thought I would give it a try. When I called to book the appointment, I wanted to use the spray tanning booth, however the man informed me over the phone that it broke that morning. He told me he would give me the same price for first time spray tan ($10) using the booth, even though he is scheduling me for the personal spray tan. I asked if I would still get the price even if the booth gets fixed and he said yes. I was so happy and could not wait to get my spray tan. When I got to my appointment I had to wait around for about 10 minutes for someone to just check me in. Finally, when the man came to help me, he was very rude to me just trying to push me to the side. Then when I had to pay for the tan (before I even got it) he told me it would be $29. I tried to explain to him what the man on the phone told me and he did not care at all. He gave me a very rude response back saying "well the booth is fixed now so you can't get that price", even though the guy on the phone told me I would. I decided to just pay $29 dollars and not make a scene. Then I had to wait over 20 minutes past my appointment time because the girl who was doing the spray tans was running late. The girl was very nice and did apologize saying she was booked the whole night. She was very friendly, however she did a terrible job on the spray tan. THANK GOODNESS the bridesmaids dresses were long, otherwise I would have came back throwing a fit. My legs were so blotchy, it was so embarrassing. The outside of my legs were very pale and the inside was orange. I also had streaks all on my thighs and legs. I could not even wear a short dress to the rehearsal dinner because I was so embarrassed. I can definitely tell you that I will never in my life come back for a spray tan again and will tell everyone about my experience. I am surprised they still have customers by the way the front desk staff treated me. read more
