Beach Babies is truly a special place. The staff are incredibly kind - not only to the babies - but to the parents. They look after the holistic needs of the family. I had my kid in another day care when he was a little baby (and paid much more there) which offered me a clear perspective of just how much Beach Babies cares. A few spotlights: - The teachers work on crafts all year long for your kids, so they always come home with cute art. - Each day is a different focus, within a themed week (science, cooking, animals) so there is so much constant programming before they are even in preschool. - The front desk team seems genuinely happy and NEVER gossip (at the other daycare, I heard teachers/admin gossiping about parents) Most importantly, we feel our little one is safe and cared for. My son started at Beach Babies in June of 2020 (during Covid) and we have had such a great experience these past two years. He is now graduating and getting ready to go to kindergarten in the fall. He has grown so much socially, emotionally and academically- they really provide a well rounded curriculum in each classroom. I am confident my son is going to thrive in kindergarten with all the preparation he has received from Beach Babies. The teachers in each class have been wonderful and the school staff have all been amazing! The office staff and director are very friendly and respond promptly to emails and phone calls. There is always an open line of communication and we feel that they have created a very safe and nurturing environment. We recently had our second child and are excited to have him start in the fall so we can continue to be apart of the beach babies family! It is expensive and there are a lot of recognized holidays however, that is part of how they retain their staff and teachers. Beach Babies has been a wonderful place for my daughter to grow up in. We are even sending our twins there in 2 months because we love the care. While we've been going through a pandemic, they have taken great care and been super transparent when needed. Very much recommend!!! And would like to add that the tuition is the Goldilocks of tuitions. It's not cheap because you get much more than other centers, but it is not expensive. Another leading chain is more like a current mortgage payment, so I would consider Beach Babies the best bang for your buck on the west side. read more

We spent $1100 for 4.5 days of daycare here (do the math). During those 4.5 days, the staff at this Beach Babies location (BB3) allowed our daughter to cut her gums open and contract Hand Foot & Mouth Disease. As a first time mom, I'm probably more anxious and cautious than more experienced moms. I spent an unbelievable amount of time looking for the best possible childcare facility for my baby girl. I thought that facility was Beach Babies, but I was so very wrong. Most childcare providers take special precautions with new children because they want the parents to feel comfortable and develop a sense of trust in the facility. However, within ONE HOUR of us dropping our daughter off for her first day of daycare ever, BB3 staff called to tell my husband there was "an incident." It turns out that because no one from the staff was watching our daughter, she was allowed to climb onto a random parent and fall on her face, cutting her upper gums to the point where she bled. Up to that point in her 7.5 months alive, she had fallen many times but never bled. Was it too much to ask for them to keep her from hurting herself and bleeding for one hour? We later received an email saying that the infant class (Sand Dollar) had a confirmed case of Hand Foot & Mouth Disease. This causes me concern that the facility is not as diligent or sanitary ad I previously believed. Our daughter caught a mild case from whatever rude parent sent their kid to BB w/ a rash. She was cleared to go back to daycare by her physician, but BB3 said she could not return. This was supposed to be her final week anyway. We gave our 30-day notice before our daughter ever started at BB3, and I wish we had changed our minds sooner. We didn't like the lack of transparency and communication from the start. When I filled out our waitlist form, I wasn't sure what we would need, so I checked full-time and part-time just in case. What they didn't tell us is that in order to be part-time, another family has to fill in the gap for the rest of the days of the week. If that is the case, how are they able to offer a 4-day option? When I asked, I was told, someone would have to commit to 1-day per week, but the minimum is 2 days per week. (To date, no one has filled us in on how this works.) So, we agreed to 2 days per week and had to send our daughter to another facility for the other 2 days I work. Thank goodness we are able to up our daughter's care there when we finish at BB3. Another problem we had was with the registration process/paperwork. The long and short of it is we didn't agree with certain policies and refused to sign those sections of the paperwork. The staff told us we had to sign as a condition of enrollment, and they told us not to worry about those sections because they didn't actually mean what they said. (Again, disturbing. I'm a lawyer, and if you make me sign an arbitration agreement and then say what I'm signing doesn't mean what it says, shame on me if I have to try and prove that in an arbitration because you better believe the first thing the arbitrator is going to do is look to the letter of the contract.) The staff seem very friendly towards the kids, though they are very young and seemingly inexperienced with infants of their own (it's just a different level of care). The facility is very secure -- fingerprint scan in/out, plus paper sign in and out. There is plenty of parking. They have lots of nice developmental toys and activities. They calendar family events to try and foster community. Diapers and wipes are included in the costs. For infants, however, food is not included. Unfortunately, this was just not a good fit for us. That said, we know others who love it and have had their kids go from infancy to graduation. read more

This is a long overdue review of my children's day care. First, regarding Covid. All of the staff, including the fabulous Coach Mike and Music Jon, are vaccinated. All staff wear masks. Parents must submit proof of vaccination status to enter the building and must wear masks. Children are in small groups, wear masks and wash their hands throughout the day. If you are nervous about sending your child to daycare during Covid, you will be relieved to see Beach Babies plan and execution of the plan to keep everyone safe. Second, regarding the care. The children are cared for by loving professionals who truly enjoy children. The curriculum engages their minds, and sports and music are a big portion of the day. I thoroughly trust any beach babies staff member to care for my children and have hired them to babysit in my home during their off hours. Third, the families. You will meet families who also value a secular, loving, educational day care. The families we have met through beach babies have become dear friends and we share the same values and parenting styles. Fourth, the money. Yes, it is expensive. Yes, they are closed a lot. But the drain on your purse will end eventually and you will be glad you sent your child to a safe environment where they thrived. Both of my children attended from 3 months to 5 years and we don't regret it. They loved beach babies and we do too! read more

Our three girls all went to Beach Babies and I couldn't imagine a more amazing place for them to grow and learn. The learning part of the experience is stunning; our oldest left "Dolphin" (the last class) and entered transitional Kindergarten and was already reading books to their teacher. ;) I can't say enough about the attention the teachers give to the kids with respect to learning... Beach Babies' biggest asset is definitely the teachers, after three kids going through there we have seen many teachers come and go and they are some of the most amazing people that we could possibly imagine engaging with our children. It's always tough leaving your child at daycare/school but the pure joy in their eyes seeing their teacher and the reciprocation you see in their teachers' eyes just melts your heart. The BB office staff are also fantastic, Christie and the rest of the staff were always very warm and understanding. Whenever we had to pick up one our little ones when they were sick they took such good care of them and kept them happy and comfortable. Any logistics we ever had to work out were always done with ease and they were always accommodating. It wouldn't be a real review if I didn't mention some constructive criticism. The turnover of teachers seems to be high, many of the lead teachers end up leaving to go back to school. I certainly can't fault them for this and thank them for the time they spent with our children, I just wish our other kids got to learn from them as well. Secondly BB is not cheap, though again I'd gladly pay the tuition for the quality the staff, facility, and teachers bring to the experience. Lastly if this is your first child in daycare they are going to get sick (frequently), yeah it can suck in the moment but what can you expect when they are suddenly exposed to 100 other kids (and their siblings)? It's interesting that our latter kids never got sick as much as our first, I have to believe that the "herd immunity" had something to do with it. All in all I could not recommend a better daycare/preschool for children. It's an awful feeling leaving your kids anywhere but the environment at Beach Babies is simply amazing and the experience is second to none. I am so grateful for the wonderful ladies in the Sand Dollar class for the friendly and happy care they took of my little one. We had her at beach babies from Oct 2016 until I moved and took a new job in Sept 2017, and the teachers and I all cried and hugged on her last day. Ugh it makes me teary just thinking about it now, I love those ladies. My little one joined the class at 12 weeks, and for the first few months I'd go sit with her at BB during my lunch break and feed her and play with her for an hour. During those many observation hours I was always so impressed with the wonderful teachers, especially Jess, Ruth, Cristina, Claudia, Tatiana... really all of them are amazing. They have a fun and happy energy, and they all genuinely love babies and are delighted when they learn new things and pass milestones. I got a bunch of baby care ideas from them, actually, and got ideas from them on what to feed her as she got bigger too. Compared to other day cares, the staff at beach babies seemed a little younger and more energetic/fun, and my daughter really responded well to that happy environment. We never had any tears at drop-off, and as she got bigger she'd clap and wave when we arrived at the BB parking lot and always reached out to grab her teachers when we walked in the door. If you're preggo and thinking about Beach Babies, my advice is to get on the waiting list asap and also to put your name on other waiting lists just in case. Beach Babies seems to have a bunch of openings in the infant class in the summer through September but after that it can be hit or miss whether there's a spot on the exact date you need it. I think it might be a little easier to find spots in the non-infant classes. Second piece of advice is to be sure to visit any childcare places you're considering to get the best idea of what they're like because the yelp reviews can be skewed negative or not have enough reviews to get a good idea. I have a theory that satisfied parents may not be inclined to leave a review for fear that extra demand could drive up prices or make it harder for their later kid(s) to get a spot. I'm only leaving this glowing review now because we moved away, ha. Third piece of advice is to make sure you and/or your spouse saves some sick days after your family leave because your baby will probably get sick a couple times (or more) in the first year. I think my husband and I used about 6 days between us - mostly minor things like slight fevers and pink eye. There are also a bunch of holidays when BB is closed, although some teachers babysit on the side if you don't have grandmas nearby. My son started at Beach Babies in August, 2021, when he was four years old. Prior to starting we had kept him home with his sister throughout the pandemic, and while we were grateful to spend so much time together, and to keep him safe, it was evident that he was in need of academic and social exposure. From the moment we walked in Beach Babies was one of the most welcoming, loving, and enriching places I've ever been able to experience. Between my two children we have utilized several day cares and preschools and Beach Babies absolutely blows all the others out of the water. My son learned so much in such a short amount of time, not only being introduced to introductory spelling, reading, math and science, but more importantly learning to be curious, and learning to love the process of learning. I know he will walk into Kindergarten with the confidence needed to be successful in his learning, and also to be a good classroom citizen. The staff at Beach Babies is absolutely incredible, from the thoughtful, knowledgeable and friendly administrative staff to the truly heroic teachers. They not only cared for our son, but for our whole family, and the community as we transitioned out of our pandemic isolation. Our son developed an incredible bond with all of his teachers, and they clearly love and care for he and his development as much as I do. Our final day with his Teachers was spent at Disneyland (a special treat for all the graduates) and when we said goodbye after the final fireworks show we all had tears streaming down our faces with the bittersweet reality of this incredible chapter coming to an end. Beach Babies also bravely commits themselves to being on the right side of topics that are unfortunately controversial, such as maintaining strict, science based COVID protocols, and providing a welcoming and safe space for families of all types, colors, and backgrounds. I wholeheartedly recommend Beach Babies to any family looking for a caring, organized, well run, loving, welcoming, and academic program for their children, and a holistic community for the whole family. I brought my daughter here when she was 3 months old. Since day one, she was sick. Once she got over her illness, she would continue to get sick. The air conditioning is on full blast and they don't clean the toys as often as they say they do. I saw my daughter playing with a toy while three other infants came along and put the same toy in their mouth. Paying such a high tuition I would expect more awareness of toys being shared. The A/C is way too high for the infant room and shouldn't just accommodate the women who just sit around at the front desk. All the girls are nice who care for the kids, young most likely college students but I had a hard time dealing with my daughter catching viruses and being sick every day that she was there. Out of a month she was only there about a week to two weeks at a time since I had to keep her home to overcome her illness. read more

Both my daughter and son went to Beach Babies 3 and I cannot say enough great things about this preschool. First, its well managed and the staff are on top of everything. The teachers are awesome. They are the right balance of nurture and discipline. You can tell that the teachers and staff really care about all of the kids. The curriculum is amazing as it covers the development of the whole child, emotional and mental. By the time they graduate, they are well prepared, if not over-prepared for Kindergarten. Our son started daycare at Beach Babies when he was 10 months old. This was our first experience with group childcare, and we feel so lucky to have found this special place. I dropped off my son every day knowing that he was safe, loved, and stimulated. Every member of the staff that we interacted with over the course of our nearly 2 years at Beach Babies was genuine and caring. Several of the staff have babysat for us on the weekends. One of the hardest parts of our recent move was leaving this wonderful community. The only downside was there are a significant number of closures (summer break, winter break, other holidays). This location is considered Beach Babies (BB) #3 and is the largest of the three facilities. I have toured/visited a number of childcare/preshools in the South Bay area. I would rank BB in the top three. It is expensive but they really care for the children, easily some of the most friendly and child loving staff in the area. But, parents please do your research. BB is expensive childcare for children under 30 months. But once your child is over 30 mts and potty trained then the competition gets tough; and BB recognizes that b/c the rate drops considerably at this point. Over 30mts BB provide breakfast, lunch and 2 snacks and children move to larger outdoor play area. Some of the CONS: Extremely small facility. read more

Beach Babies #3 is the best childcare facility from Long Beach through the South Bay. My husband and I searched and searched for a childcare facility for our four month old baby. We had very high standards, as it is so difficult to leave such a small baby in stranger's hands. Beach Babies #3 was the only childcare facility we felt comfortable with and it was the best decision we made. Our child stayed at Beach Babies until the age of 3 1/2. Because of the BB curriculum, our child continuously had mental and physical skills that were far beyond non-BB peers. Both of our children have been at Beach Babies 3 since they were 3 months old. Our oldest just completed the Dolphin program (pre-K) and our youngest is in Sea Horse (pre-school). We looked at several day cares when I was pregnant, including on-site care at both my husband's and my work. Choosing a day care with one of our employers would have been cheaper, but we felt Beach Babies had an all around better facility, better staff, and a better program. I look back on that decision and I know we made the right choice. At Beach Babies, we've always felt our kids are well cared for, they're learning tons, and most of all, they are loved. The biggest Beach Babies differentiator is the staff. They care so much about the success of the children, and they are intentional about creating bonds with the families. My kids actually look forward to Mondays because they miss their teachers on the weekends! My oldest is more than prepared for kindergarten this fall, both socially and academically, and it's been incredible watching her learn and grow. I feel like a couple of the prior reviews are a little unfair. Yes, if your kids go to Beach Babies, they will get sick (especially in the first year - but it gets a lot better after that!), and you should be prepared to take days off work to care for your sick kids - but that's going to be true of any group care arrangement (and it will happen in kindergarten if you don't put them in group care as infants). Yes, they are closed for pretty much every holiday and two weeks for winter break, but these teachers are practically saints in my book (try to imagine herding a classroom of 18 month olds or 4 year olds every day with a smile on your face, an infinite amount of patience, and love for each kid), and they deserve the time away. Bottom line, this place is great and we recommend it to all of our friends and co-workers looking for child care. read more

This place is EXCEPTIONAL!!! My 1st Son started attending at age one through their pre-k program. Currently my second son is almost 4 years old attending. Every day we are greeted with the most Authentic Hugs and smiles! I must say, As I walked in this daycare, I wanted to stay there for the day. It was a very clean and nice looking facility, which is a challenge when you are dealing with children. The staff was superfriendly and attentive. The 2 things that really stood out to me was the fact that they provide lunch and 2 snacks for the kids daily, and the fact that they have a garden for each class where the children can plant various plants and vegetables and watch them grow. I was SOLD on this place up until they handed me a price list. $1100 per month is not affordable to working parents. This place is almost as much as my Rent! Unless you are an executive, or rolling in dough, this is not in your price range. If it was affordable, this place would have been my 3 year old's second home! Wish they could have been more reasonable with the pricing. Oh well....Very nice for those that can splurge. read more

On January 4, 2010, I left my little baby boy at Beach Babies. And I cried. I hated the idea of leaving him, and I hated the idea he wouldn't be with me. But every school day for the past nine and a half years Beach Babies' wonderful teachers and staff have proven over and over again it was the best decision I ever made. The love, kindness, lessons, compassion and care that was given to and shared with our two boys over the years was truly amazing. They both completed the Beach Babies program more than ready for kindergarten, and with a huge head start in life. They also both were taught manners, kindness, and how to be good friends to others. I couldn't have asked for any more, and will miss all the smiling faces greeting me each morning as I dropped off. I would first like to say this is one of greatest facility I have ever been to. I went here for community hours for my school of nursing and this place was recommended so I decided to come here. Their facility is very clean. The place has a theme of a beach and when you enter it's just that, very nicely decorated and organized. High security only given to parents to drop off their child and when I was in one of the daycare rooms, the children we all so polite and sweet! They are very smart and cute! I was only there for a few hours and I loved them all the teachers or caregivers are soooo sweet one of the cutest and nicest people I've ever met, I knew they are all trustworthy and I met with their assistant directors and to be honest they are so nice! They answer their phones so welcoming and cute. They actually prep the children for kindergarten and the kids are so well mannered and sweet, due to spending most of their days at this daycare, they are learning math, reading, writing, and it is inspiring to want to become a pediatrics nurse for my own future. Overall, I give this place a 5* for these main reasons, their security, their manners and caregiving, their curriculum in teaching their students/children, and their feeling of care. If you are looking for a place to prep your children for kindergarten and want them to learn manners and treat each other with care then this is the first place you should go! read more

Both of my children have gone to Beach Babies 3 since they were infants. -Leaving a 4 month old in someone else's hands is a very hard thing for a parent to do. I first toured Beach Babies when I was pregnant and I got a really good feeling. The caregiver:child ratio in the Sand Dollar Room (infants) is 1:3. All of the staff is very warm and engaging towards parents and children. Even in the infant room, there are stimulating activities: music class, painting, read alouds . . . -One of my children had a speech delay and the center was extremely helpful to her speech therapist. The Beach Babies teachers filled out MANY observation forms so that the therapist could get an idea of her speech behaviors at school. The administration was very accommodating to my daughter's schedule. When she was in the Dolphin Room (preschool) they made sure she did not miss Reading or Math when she arrived late (due to speech therapy.) They even changed her "Share Day" so that she wouldn't miss her turn. -Our family has loved the teachers our children have had over the years! Many of them babysit for us. Since the groups in the preschool room are small, the teachers get to know the children very well. This better allows them to support the children academically and emotionally. -I am so impressed by the academic progress my daughter has made in the Dolphin Room this year! In Math, she can read and write the numbers 1-10, can count, continue patterns, and is beginning to understand addition and subtraction. In Language Arts, she can name and write all the letters of the alphabet and recognizes initial sounds in words. -Whenever I call with a question or a concern, the office staff is very helpful and addresses it in a timely manner. -Both of my children got sick a lot the first year/ year and a half at Beach Babies, but I'm pretty sure that would happen in any daycare setting. -I recommend Beach Babies 3 to anyone looking for childcare in the South Bay. read more

Both the teachers and the administrative staff are exceptional and treat all of us like we're family. The amount of love they show my child blows me away every time I think about it. I have friends in other parts of town who have their kids in day care and they are always stunned (and frankly a little jealous) when I tell them about how things work at Beach Babies. This daycare is the absolute best in the South Bay. I've tried other daycares and none came close to the level of professionalism, care and cleanliness as Beach Babies. What made it so fantastic was the warm loving staff who always went out of their way to show the children love and kindness. They keep the place very clean and provide daily status reports, diapers, wipes, breakfast, lunch and several snacks, bed linens for nap time - to name just a few. They have a well structured curriculum that includes art, playtime, and academic learning programs which will place your child on par with many first graders. The property includes multiple age appropriate outdoor areas with play structures and blacktop for bicycles and other fun activities. They host family events for various holidays, offer seasonal photography, and arrange field trips. I could go on and on about this place. My son was so happy there and we cherished our time there. This place is absolutely the best in South Bay and I highly recommend it for anyone looking for a full daycare / preschool program. read more

I really love this daycare facility and part of the reason is because my daughter loves it so much. She absolutely adores all of the employees at the facility, especially those in her room. She has been at Beach Babies #3 since she was four months old and they have always taken great care of her. Yes, she gets sick, that's part of being in a daycare facility or any young-age school atmosphere. They have curriculum for all of their children, including infants, and she has been learning and doing things that I wouldn't have thought to introduce her to at such a young age. Most of the employees know every child's name in the facility - it's really quite amazing - and it makes us feel like our daughter is not only taken care of during the day but actually cared for. I highly recommend Beach Babies for those parents looking for a school-like, loving atmosphere for their children. read more

We decided to put our son in daycare at Beach Babies thinking we could not go wrong. Although it's a bit pricey, over $1,700/month, it all seemed worth it based on what we were told during their tour. I believe our baby is never in danger of any harm there, however, it's challenging when I go to pick him up at the end of the day and often find that he has not eaten for several hours, missing his afternoon snack, and I have to sit and feed him before we can get on the road to go home - not fair to my hungry son, and not convenient for me. And, they are closed the last full week of December, and the first full week of January; so, in addition to finding alternate day care for two weeks if you cannot afford the luxury of taking two full weeks of vacation, you had better get your January tuition in EARLY or you will be charged $170!!! late fee if it sits in their mailbox over the break and they don't get to it until they open in January. QUITE excessive for a late fee which happens over their break due to their closure - HAPPY HOLIDAYS to YOU! So, if you call them with an issue or question, don't expect a call in return; it seems their protocol is to send you an email - plenty of anonymity to allow for their rude and empty response. There are a lot of other really great centers nearby that have similar prices, a reasonable late fee if you are legitimately late in paying tuition, and super child care. Definitely not worth the hassle for the family. read more

Are you F***** kidding me? This place is horrible!!!!! The price is outragely expensive, the facility is extremely small, the management especially Christie is very very very unprofessional! One time I had a meeting with her to express my frustration about how my son is getting sick every single week! I do not know how sanitize the facility is! But my son wasn't the only one! Almost every kid in there gets sick! On top of that when the suppose "teachers" get sick they weren't sent home so they would affect all the kids! The LA health department needs to check their facility!!!!! Wait, I can write to the health department and complain!! That I'll do! Anyway, getting back to Christie, WTF, I was in the middle of talking and her fiancé walks in and all her work drops. She rush me out the door like I was a roach! Very unprofessional! All they care is money! Once u pay them and that's it, u won't be able to see her again! Put your money on somewhere else! The one star is for the teachers....I respect the teachers. But it is really false advertisement from BB, they market themselves as having teachers and stuff but they are really just a daycare. F**** BB! read more
