OK, initially I had reviewed Humphrey's Salon, because that's where Kim's "Sugar Shack" is located…read more But I guess she just rents the space there at Humphrey's, and they do her scheduling and stuff at Humphrey's...but she's not necessarily a Humphrey's employee? I don't know how the salon world really works, I suppose. What I DO KNOW is that Kim is amazing. She's the nicest lady, and remembered me even though I didn't come in for, like, three months. The front desk staff at Humphrey's had screwed up my scheduling initially - like, I was supposed to be on the books, but found out they cancelled my appointment without telling me - and that was in February...since then, I've missed an appointment (they didn't call to remind me of the appointment, either, which is weird) and had to reschedule. When I went yesterday, I found out that Humphrey's is under new management, which explained all the confusion. But my review is on Kim - she's amazing at what she does - and she does hair waxing and sugaring. You can't find sugaring ANYWHERE else...it's safer, cleaner, and just slightly less painful than waxing. Kim is very thorough and makes you feel SO COMFORTABLE, despite the fact that she is, in fact, ripping out your hair from its roots. The prices are slightly steep, but comparable to what other salons are charging for waxing. Apparently she does FULL BODY hair removal, too. Just in case you were wondering. A task that large can take about 2 to 3 hours. If you have any questions about the process or experience, let me know!

I initially came in for brazilians, but she has shown me the world of eyebrow threading! I was always hesitant to try because of the pain (which is really rich coming from someone who gets waxed, I know haha), but she talked me through it & now I can't go without it! You can tell right off the bat how she truly cares for each of her customers, which made me keep coming back again & again. I've never bothered much with my eyebrows, despite a vague realization that they really could use…read moresome tidying up. When I first heard about "threading" a couple months ago (yep, I'm so with it), I had the mental image of someone taking a needle and thread to my eyebrow hairs to weave them together into some sort of nice shape. This is how clueless I am when it comes to eyebrows. Sooo...after reading rave reviews of this place and finally getting the nerve to experience this "threading" stuff, I called Jamila, who was able to book me an appointment two days later. An hour after speaking with her, she called back and said she'd had a cancellation, would I like it? Would I ever! How nice of her to call back. I dashed out to Carrollton to find Radiant. TIP: It's located at the southeast corner of Josey and Jackson, facing Jackson. Hard to find unless you know that. Look for the Blockbuster on the corner. ANOTHER TIP: Her name is pronounced "Jah-mee-lah." Poor woman probably gets called something different every day, but she was very polite in correcting me. As soon as I was settled in the procedure room, the first thing Jamila said to me was, "Your eyebrows are too light." She then horrified me by penciling in what they should look like. Granted, this is what every woman WITH A CLUE's eyebrows look like, but it's a big change for me. I compromised with her on doing a slightly lighter shade for the tint (which I hadn't even been planning on until she made me realize how bare and ugly my eyebrows au natural looked). The tint turned out to match my hair PERFECTLY, and I'm very happy with it. I'm going to invest in an eyebrow pencil now. What is this world coming to?! Anyway, she then proceeded to do the threading, which was painful, yes, but not as painful as I'd heard. I do have high pain tolerance, so that probably helped. She listened carefully to my request not to make my eyebrows too thin (I like the distinctiveness of my slightly Brooke-Shields-esque brows). They're not shockingly different from what they looked like before, just slightly more polished and darker (thanks to the tint). Next time, I might be more brave and go for a bit thinner and a bit darker. But I need to work up my courage for that. Best part of the whole thing? The tint ($10) and shaping ($10) were ridiculously affordable compared to pretty much anywhere else I looked. And it was super quick and relatively painless (once I got over the initial heart attack from seeing my eyebrows so dark). I may have just started a new beauty regimen. Who am I?! Next stop: find a shrink to help me deal with the changes in my life. Aaahh!!

I visited Sugaring NYC in Flower Mound for an eyebrow wax and an eyelash lift and tint, and I'm…read moreextremely disappointed in the services I received. My technician, Taylor, openly admitted she had to practice on herself when she saw an eyelash lift on her schedule--something no paying customer should hear. She didn't provide any aftercare instructions, and when I asked how long the results would last, her vague response was "it just depends how much oil-based products you use," which offered no real guidance. I don't use any, so this answer was especially frustrating. When the appointment was over, I truly couldn't tell what she did to my eyelashes as there was no difference from when I walked in to the end of my appointment. Not to mention, I had glue left all over my eyelids and tint dye smeared around my lash line and face, pictures attached. My brows still had wax residue, and sugar was matted into my hair. When I sat up, my hair was literally stuck to the table. I regret paying for these services and would not recommend this location to anyone for the services I received. The lack of professionalism and basic technique was shocking.

Worst experience and ZERO customer service - I came here a…read moremonth ago and had one of the worst service experiences I've ever had. My esthetician was so rough that she left me bruised (I've been sugared many times and never bruise), admitted the bikini area "makes her nervous," and even left used sugar stuck in my eyebrow, on my shirt, and all over my legs. I submitted feedback through their internal review system, and they told me the esthetician was fired because of my appointment. I was promised a partial refund (even though the service deserved a full one), and nearly a month later I'm still waiting--despite calling four times to follow up. Each time I've been met with excuses and zero urgency to make things right. To make matters worse, one staff member told me they had never received complaints about this esthetician, while another admitted there had been many. Looking at other reviews on Yelp, it's clear my experience wasn't an isolated incident. I literally never write reviews but this business has shown me the worst customer service I've ever encountered, and I wouldn't recommend anyone waste their time or money here.
