Food and basic decor (chair covers, etc) was arranged through the venue. We elected to have our own photographer and florists. The view of the golf course and outdoor terrain was peaceful and serene. There were several areas with tall grassy fields as well as big oak trees in the background. It allowed for beautiful pictures with our photographer. The catered food from the venue (salmon and several other sides) was decent - not the absolute best, but not too bad. The venue decor itself was very traditional (patterned rug, heavy curtains, cloth chair covers). Overall, I had a great experience hosting my event at this venue and would recommend to others.

The balls were ok for a quick warm up but would not work well to accurately practice ball movement. The course itself has a really nice layout. They fairways were in good shape. Any of the bad lies I had were because of bad shots as opposed to poor maintenance. The greens at this course is what brings the rating down. On several of the greens the was a lot of dead spots. Of course the pins are not places near the dead spots and because the greens are large my play was rarely affected by them. The staff is incredibly friendly, being available and willing to help. Due to COVID-19 I didn't hang around inside kind but what I saw was nice. I have been fortunate to play some very nice courses. Also I work at a well rated golf course so please be mindful of this when considering my 3 star rating, which I believe to be average. The Pecan Grove Plantation is worth the trip. In fa I am going to play it again today. UPDATE: After playing this course again I raised my review to 4Star. On my 2nd trip the range has been moved to a very grassy spot. We played the 3rd of the 3 9hole courses. This one has obviously been updated and updated nicely. In my first review I did not mention price. Both times we played for $30 each. At this price it is an extremely good value.

The server who waited on us was so nice and knowledgeable. She also told us about upcoming events. The food was great. I had just typical breakfast food, but it was perfect. This was the first time I've had iced tea that tastes like my grandma used to make and which I've not been able to reproduce. So good. Okay, I'm more critical because I'm a Marriott snob (titanium elite) and don't get me wrong, I…read morethink the modern design elements are a nice touch to this refitted holiday inn, but some of the finishing touches in the rooms show a lot of deferred maintenance which is in direct contravention to the luxury aesthetic that it's trying to portray. Hotel room: the rooms are a nice standard size. I was in a standard king; nice amenities that you would like to see such as a nice desk and chair, an additional plush sitting chair, a very comfortable mattress with appropriate linens, and a fridge and microwave. However, the cleanliness! I was disappointed to check in closer to 6 PM to find a bunch of bugs hoarding in multiple lampshades and a wall and an additional different bug was on the curtains. The bugs were sleeping, not dead, and you could tell that they had lived there and multiplied there for a while. Which that can only mean that the rooms have not been cleaned and periodically checked in between stays. That is not a housekeeping issue that's a general manager issue. Years ago, I worked for a four diamond star hotel, and they were relentless about periodically cleaning empty rooms. The general manager would literally walk each floor with the housekeeping and front desk managers and inspect every single guest room, every quarter. I notified the front desk and right away they sent a member of housekeeping staff to tidy up. Unfortunately, she only had Windex to clean and kill the bugs. So that unpreparedness is another indication that the hotel manager is completely oblivious to the Pest problem. Never put your staff in a position like that --that is a huge red flag. In the bathroom, there was hookless linen shower curtain with tattered grommets clearly needing replacement. After showering I could see that the glass mirror paneling was peeling off likely due to the humidity, which would be an easy fix with the appropriate commercial grade adhesive. There is also a lot of chipping around the silver plated faucet base which looks horrible and brings the entire aesthetic down. It really should just be scratched/ peeled off entirely so that the actual faucet can look more consistent. Perhaps most disappointing was that one of the hotel towels I reached for had tan colored stains, clearly indicating that the towel had not been thoroughly cleaned. Also, a few of the towels seemed to be different shades of white and cream, which indicates either a cleaning solution issue or an inventory supplier issue. All of these things are truly easy fixes that make a huge difference when you have a general manager who maintains the brand through regular quality audits. Bar: really neat bar and grill with great craft cocktails; really nice feature cocktail menu specifically for the women's tournament series. I really appreciate it them going the extra mile. The bar area was sleek and clean. However, it was extremely warm almost like the AC and intentionally been turned off. Poker room: I enjoyed my time in the Poker room the entire staff from the front desk to the cage were extremely welcoming and inviting! I received a really nice cocktail and food voucher since my birthday was falling on the same day as my first night stay. Really excellent way to make a first impression! I enjoyed one of the special event cocktails as well as the Houston restaurant weeks special four course dinner. Really, really well executed ! There were only two downsides to the Poker room in my opinion: (1) lack of communication and clarity around the tournament events and the particular rules. I overheard some ladies complaining about that piece and I just really think that more details could have been added to the online event details web page to make clear to everyone how the events operated. (2) The tables as well as the food trays were so jampacked together that there was little room to walk in and out. Very uncomfortable. I should not have to hug the table to avoid being unintentionally, pushed, hit, and tripped over. I observed it happening at many tables multiple times and it happened to me. Not an upscale experience at all. Anyway, I'm really glad that I experienced playing Poker with so many enthusiastic women. Generally, I think with improvement, this place can recruit more many members and charge more and be even more profitable. Maybe things I've mentioned don't really matter to men who generally dominate the venue, but I think as a hotel operation you should want to kick it up a notch at every opportunity.

First, the venue is absolutely beautiful. From the moment our group arrived, the staff was welcoming, friendly, and accommodating. They made our group feel right at home, and that always makes a difference when you're traveling and celebrating with a large group of ladies. Now, let's talk about the FOOD! The brunch was served buffet-style, and I must say--everything I tried was delicious. There was a great variety, including fried chicken, catfish bites, seafood pasta, red beans and rice, vegetables, potatoes, spring rolls, fruit, and more. I enjoyed everything, but those fried catfish bites and seafood pasta were the standouts for me. I went back for seconds on both! And if I go back for seconds, you know it was good! I noticed a faint smell of cafeteria type scent, but it dissipated in a few minutes. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit. The "Community" is such a wonderful space for people in need. There were only two 1/3 1k max buy-in tables running so it took some time getting into the game I wanted. In terms of pricing, it's $10 for the initial membership and another $10 to get into the poker room for the day. Then it's $12 per hour to play but they were running a new member promotion where they matched the number of hours you initially loaded up onto your card. The promotion was not very helpful for me since I wasn't planning on coming back anytime soon so I just loaded an hour (with another hour matched) onto my card. Even though the game selection was below par and the pricing is more expensive than comparable rooms in Austin (see The Lodge), I liked the ambience of the place and the full service bar. The drinks were extremely cheap ($3 for a well drink)! Maybe they were subsidizing the drinks so ppl could play more loosely.
