The others were still on the morning round of golf. The service was fantastic. Especially since no one else was there. You could tell, however, that service was typically very good. The server who waited on us was so nice and knowledgeable. She also told us about upcoming events. The food was great. I had just typical breakfast food, but it was perfect. This was the first time I've had iced tea that tastes like my grandma used to make and which I've not been able to reproduce. So good. My dad was so impressed he decided to go back with his radio club. It will be a mainstay in our family brunch get together a henceforth. Also their prices were super reasonable.

Fairways and tee boxes are hard as cement except for the areas where there are irrigation problems and those are flooded. There is no drinking water or beverage service on the course so prepare ahead. This entire club is just tired and worn out.

I also decided to book a room here because I did not know how long I will be in the game. Check-in for the room was easy and getting my membership card sign up was fast also. My room was not ready when the tournament was about to start so I capped my belonging with me while I play poker. I book a ADA room but the room I got does not have a walking shower or a show chair or grab bars for the toilet. I informed this complaint to the front desk when I check out. Later when I was waiting for my ride, a manager name Miranda came over to talk to me about my complaint and I show her the pictures of the room I had and I would not about to go in the bathtub and shower safely. She told me they did have another room with walking shower, just not the one I got that night. Hopefully she will work on it. So tin the future when I come back it will be more nicer for me to use my room.

She said she will send towels up as well as Febreze to use for the odor. An hour later, we still haven't received our towels. I came down & spoke to Shonti, explaining to her that I have health issues & asked if there's another room that doesn't have the smell of smoke. She said, "this hotel is a non-smoking facility, & that's not on us." Then, she proceeded to say, "your name is not on the hotel list so you don't have any rights to talk about any issues." (I recorded our convo). Had she checked the hotel forms, she would have seen that my name was added when we checked in. Even if my name wasn't on the list, is that how to treat a guest? My son came back down & let her know that we needed to transfer to another room, & will need to inspect the new room before we move our things over. And she told my son the same thing, that I didn't have the right to ask for anything. My son said to her, there's no need to be rude & disrespectful. Is this how you treat guests here? By her attitude, she didn't care. This issue could've been easily resolved had she used some common sense & professionalism. By the time we finished packing/unpacking, we were exhausted, & didn't get to sleep until 2:30 in the morning. Day three, the people in the room next to us blasted loud music for hours. By 10:30 pm, we called receptionist (Sophia) downstairs. Those people did turn the music down a bit. But, around 11:30, we heard loud wall banging from the same people in the room next to us. This went on and off for the next 45 minutes. We called the receptionist again. But the wall banging did not stop. We had to bang on their wall. The wall banging didn't stop until 10 to 15 minutes later. By this time, it was close to 1 AM. Then the AC didn't blow out cold air so we turned it off for a while before turning it back on again. We didn't get to sleep until almost 4 AM. Imagine having to deal with this for most of the night while trying to sleep?! Day 5, we were awakened by hammering noises early in the morning. At this point, we just packed up & left. The first room we were in was so filthy. It wasn't just the smell of smoke, the shower area and the bathroom floor were filthy. The pillowcases had stains on them. And, the carpet didn't feel like it's been vacuumed. It's a double-bed room, yet, there was only one set of towels. When you step into the hotel doors, your purse & belongings will be checked and looked into, & you will walk through a metal detector because there's a poker room there. We've never been to a hotel where we couldn't park by the front door to unload our luggage. It wouldn't be a big deal if you didn't have much to carry in, but we did. After our complaints, some of the employees treated us differently. And you can tell that they were talking about you when you passed by a group of them. Sophia (reception) who originally checked us in was friendly when we arrived, but gave us a cold shoulder. Even after we said hi to her, she turned the other way and didn't make eye contact with us. This is the kind of service you'll get when you, the paying customers, make any type of complaints. Instead of fixing the problems, they treated us like we were the problem. Imagine spending your hard earned money at an establishment and being treated in such manner. The manager, Miranda was very apologetic and gave us food vouchers. We appreciated her courtesy. But, there's been so much problems at this hotel, at this point, we just can't not leave a review. If it was just a couple of minor issues, we would've still left a good review. But it has been one thing after another. There are many great hotels/ Airbnb to stay in, and be treated with dignity and respect. This is the first time on a vacation that we couldn't wait to go home. This was the one most stressful "vacation" we have ever been on.

For our first annual Mother's Day Honor Lunch, we decided to go to Brookwood. I am thrilled with our experience! They had an abbreviated menu that weekend. We both had the Mesibov salad to start. I was wonderful and from what i understand, Brookwood is known for this salad. For our meal, I had the eggplant, and my friend had the pork chop. We also had a choice of delicious desserts. I chose the cheesecake. The serve was wonderful, the food was tasty, the atmosphere was perfect with a piano player, and the dining area was clean. I noticed a faint smell of cafeteria type scent, but it dissipated in a few minutes. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit. The "Community" is such a wonderful space for people in need. I recommend reservations. Make sure you plan for extra time to visit the store and the garden. Beautiful finds! 5/10/2025: The Gift & Garden Center... What a place! Brookwood was a wonderful experience with the lunch and then we got to shop in the store and the garden. I went back to the register 4 times, and mind you, I am not a shopper by nature. They have so many great items and I was surprised the prices were pretty decent. Clothing, shoes, bags, home decor, candles, gourmet snacks, Brookwood Community handmade items, a whole western hat and boot section, and so much more! They even have a local artist gallery with high end artwork and sculptures. One of a king beautiful piece! I like that the items were rare-ish finds. These are not items you will find at regular stores. They are more boutique type items. We also shopped in the beautiful garden. I purchased a lovely Bougainvillea for only $25.00. A regular store near me would have sold the same plant for at least $35.00. The ladies in the store are super helpful. I am glad they aren't close to my home because living nearby could be dangerous on my wallet. Even though prices are good, I wanted to buy everything in the store!

Haven't been since before COVID, but loved loved loved this community! Great day trip outing!read more

There were only two 1/3 1k max buy-in tables running so it took some time getting into the game I wanted. In terms of pricing, it's $10 for the initial membership and another $10 to get into the poker room for the day. Then it's $12 per hour to play but they were running a new member promotion where they matched the number of hours you initially loaded up onto your card. The promotion was not very helpful for me since I wasn't planning on coming back anytime soon so I just loaded an hour (with another hour matched) onto my card. Even though the game selection was below par and the pricing is more expensive than comparable rooms in Austin (see The Lodge), I liked the ambience of the place and the full service bar. The drinks were extremely cheap ($3 for a well drink)! Maybe they were subsidizing the drinks so ppl could play more loosely.
