I enjoyed my first visit to Doki Doki Kawaii Shop in early May 2026. A friend had invited me a few hours before she was heading out there so I gladly met her there. The shop has plenty of Asian inspired things. I saw a bunch of manga comic books, Pokémon items, Japanese stationery items (notebooks, highlighters, pens, etc), plushy toys, keychains, etc. I bought a cute 100-day notebook that was light green on the outside. It can be used as a planner or a diary. I can't wait to delve into it and maybe use it to track a goal or two for 2026. The store employee was friendly when I walked in and answered some questions that I had. I wish they sold more stationery items. They had a limited supply of planners and notebooks of different varieties. I will definitely visit again to browse more Japanese stationery. **** GOAL of 250 reviews in 2026 - 74/250 total reviews in 2026 - 915 total Yelp reviews - Reviewed on 11 May 2026

I went one time when there was a crafting event going on and that seemed super fun. Prices are kind of high for the items but Japanese things usually are. This place is just a glimpse of what having a giant Japanese/Asian lifestyle store could be like. The ones I've visited in Detroit and Markham, ON would be so popular if they were to open here!

Beautifully stocked children's resale store. I love how I can find better brands here (like Janie &…read moreJack, Lilly Pulitzer, etc) as opposed to basic brands at places like Once Upon A Child. The pay off, however, is that most of their prices aren't remotely comparable to other kids resale stores. One big draw is the store's American Girl area. Staff is friendly, racks are always full, but I have never seen a sale or a promo here. Not a coupon, not an end of season special. Their prices are on the high side to begin with, so that's my only issue.

Essentially inside the first floor of one of the homes in Tremont (to give you an idea of the vibe), every surface is packed and curated somehow without looking cluttered and making you feel overwhelmed. Street parking is plentiful in the area. From older books to sets of glassware (that were stunning but I had no particular place for them at this point) to a little bit of everything in between. You can tell the owner put a lot of love and thought into the curation. The owner's mom was manning the desk when I was there and she was lovely. After the initial heartfelt hello I was left to browse in peace which is always my preference. I'm always here for a conversation but it's always easier to have at the end of my browsing whether I've bought anything in particular or not. Given the nature of the business I would assume there's quite a bit of turnover in the stock and I'm curious to come back and see what's new-to-me.

I was taken back to see her NO ENTRY WITHOUT A MASK sign on the front door. I briefly thought that perhaps the owner just had not taken the sign down from over a year ago. I entered the store and was just standing in front of the door looking around at all the beautiful items that were for sale. A woman come forward from the back of the store and stated we don't allow entry without a mask and proceeded to direct me to the little mask station she had set up to the right of the store. I was shocked and taken back! All the lies and propaganda came running through my gut again and I simply stated "I do not buy that narrative", and turned around and walked out unable to purchase the book set. She has a right to set restrictions as I have the right to not comply. If she is that ill or sensitive to germs perhaps she would be better staying home or having customers order online. My sense is that continuing these restrictions will cause her business to fold as there was not one other soul in the store. My experience was not positive and I will not recommend this particular establishment. Such a huge disappointment and shame. Good luck Paisley Monkey. You are very woke and may go broke.

I really enjoyed the presentations taught by Jewls but she was recently taken off the rotation…read more When multiple individuals attend a class that they pay for they do not wish for staff members to leave the door open and let a rat into the building nor do they appreciate staff members such as Kelly interrupting the presentation to make comments. I touched a drum and considered purchasing it. Unfortunately, the staff member got quite hysterical and said to never touch the "sacred drum." The Sacred Geometry classes and art classes were truly enjoyable and I did make multiple purchases from Bear Soul Stuio & Rock Shop. Some of the ladies working there don't seem to be interested in high quality customer service and their lack of engagement is disturbing. I like Lakewood and that neighborhood. Supporting local businesses is something that I consider a high priority. Their lack of focus and interest in superior customer service has made me decide to take my business elsewhere. As a former business owner, I just can't see this business being around in the next five years. My advice to the new management is to think of yourself as a customer. Would you appreciate someone interrupting a presentation that you paid to attend? Do you think it's wise to leave a door wide open and let rodents into a building? Do Better!
