I brought it in for a major service; to get the water pump and timing belt replaced. I had called…read morearound beforehand and was turned down by other shops, but Shane was fantastic. He was extremely communicative, responded to my email right away, and the final cost was spot-on with the quote. They did a great job, and I'll definitely be back the next time a repair is over my head! I'm very particular about where I take my car--after owning it for 10 years, I can be a bit protective over it, but I definitely trust Shane and the work they do at Advanced Autowerks.

Took my Porsche Macan here because this shop was listed on the forums. Zach (the owner) was pretty…read morerude right off the bat but agreed to do a brake job with OEM brakes I bought. Most shops won't because they make a lot of money upcharging cheap parts. I then get a call the next day that my purchased front pads are broken and he needs to use his own pads. I reluctantly agree. Huge mistake. The brake pads he used on the front are not suitable and cause serious vibration when stopping. This is bad but he also charges me for various parts like side markers and key batteries that I didn't agree to replace. He charged $1700, $357 of which were the unsuitable pads. The rest was labor and parts I didn't agree to replace. Even the dealer would have been cheaper not even taking into account I now need to redo the front pads elsewhere. Take your Porsche elsewhere.

I realized that I needed to update my review of this place, which was most recently one star…read more The pros: * The "new" facility is much larger that the SOMA facility, with more repair bays, and a clean and tidy customer waiting room. * They know what they are doing when it comes to Toyota hybrids. This can be useful when you arrive with a vehicle in tow that won't start. * The mechanic includes pictures when performing diagnostics. The cons: * The pricing may be higher than other shops for similar work. My 12-volt battery replacement ran to $520, including diagnostics. And that was only after they waived some of the diagnostic fee. * Although the shop has excellent tools for communication, including a voicemail system that greets you by name and sends automated texts to start conversations, the humans there do not reliably get back in touch. In my case, I had to wait almost a week without a car, without knowing why I wasn't hearing anything. They also tend to ignore follow-up questions: you leave a voicemail or a text, and they don't bother to respond. The upshot: * If you have a serious problem (like a dead hybrid) and you don't know what's wrong, they will probably solve it. But don't expect it to happen quickly or inexpensively. * If you *don't* have an immediate, serious problem, and have the time to shop around for a capable mechanic with affordable rates, look elsewhere.
