Is this pee drizzle?
Erik K.

Pretty nasty went through 2 rooms. Moldy pizza in the fridge of the first room. Got a second room with public hair and piss in the sheets.

On the table in room

This place is absolutely disgusting, windows on first floor didn't lock, dog poop on floor, coffee pot was not cleaned and garbage in the pot, walls dirty, bathroom mold, I informed front desk and all they said is sorry we have a lot of kids who stay here

Mold in guest room toilet
Kendall H.

Stayed here for 2 nights, and staff neglected to put a "do not disturb" sign in my bathroom or anywhere else in my room, so housekeeping knocked on my door, and I told them to come back later as I was still sleeping. They proceeded to come back again less than 10 minutes later to ask if "I was sure" that I didn't need my room cleaned. Since I was woken up by their staff, I went to go make some coffee in my room, but found that their coffee machine had a copious amount of dust where you put the water in. As inspected in other rooms, I was also not given a "clean remote" sign to confirm a cleaned and disinfected TV remote, as there was in the adjacent room. Upon further inspection, I also noticed that the inner edges of the toilet were lined with a thick, black mold looking substance and had looked like it hadn't been cleaned in ages. As a former housekeeper myself, I saw a lot of important things that were missed and therefore jeopardizing the guest's health and overall piece of mind. I am left with a general feeling of disgust and discomfort, wondering what else the housekeeping department might have missed or didn't do.

I stayed at this hotel October 20-21, 2018. I did not expect much from this hotel at all but I was…read morepleasantly surprised. Hotels mostly gross me out but this one was super clean. My room was very clean, the main area was impeccable and the pool area was very nice. I was very impressed with everything. The staff - from the front desk to the maids - were friendly and helpful. I had 5 kids with me so if you were going to get crabby with a guest - it should've been me. One kid spilled an entire glass of apple juice everywhere ... then knocked ALL the utensils on the floor at breakfast (like 100 spoons, etc). The girl working the front desk was also manning the breakfast area, and she just pleasantly helped me clean it up with no issue. I will definitely stay in this location again.

When we arrived it was later in the evening around 10:30. Came in with a large group of kids and was told the pool was open until midnight. We suited up and hopped in the pool (heated). It was a little after 11 and we were the only ones in the pool. An employee came in and told us that the pool was closed to kids at 11 and if anyone came in to pack up and leave right away. The reason this was an issue was we were already told we could swim and the employee had an extremely rude attitude. If we had known that kids could not swim after 11 we wouldn't have even bothered using the pool facilities.

We had an incredible girl's weekend at the Rivertown Inn in Stillwater! The home was built by a…read morelumbar family in the 1800s and has been impeccably restored. It's just steps from downtown, so an excellent location! I loved the 'literary' theme - each room is named after and decorated for a famous author. There were six of us, so we rented the entire attic, which was perfect for our group. The rooms were unique, the beds were comfortable, and even with the summer heat, our rooms stayed cool. Our host, Larry, was truly incredible and so hospitable. He knows Stillwater inside and out and had wonderful recommendations for where to eat and what to see. He even suggested we take a drive up to Marine on St. Croix, about 10-15 minutes north of Stillwater, and we loved it. There is so much history to explore, plus a winery nearby. I recommend it too, if you are staying more than one night. Larry also thought of the little details, like setting out a puzzle he thought we would enjoy. Every evening at 5, the inn hosts happy hour with wine and a beautiful charcuterie spread. The rooms in the attic each had their own charm. The Jane Austen room was my favorite-it was especially cozy and even had a steam shower! The beautiful grounds surrounding the property were another highlight, including an enclosed gazebo that was perfect for enjoying the outdoors even when it rained. The Rivertown Inn was the perfect home base for our girls' weekend in Stillwater. The combination of historic charm, thoughtful hospitality, comfortable accommodations, and those special little touches made our stay memorable. I found out that it's not for a couple like us attending a formal wedding. Don't get me wrong, the hotel is breathtaking in its attention to the literary detail of the sponsored author (Longfellow in our case). But I could not recommend it if you need unique hours, or an actual shower (not a bath) and would like to relax with some tv at night. No wardrobe closet for our formal wear. Nothing but two hangers occupied with two robes. So, in general the hotel is remarkable and Larry helped make it a romantic stay with my girlfriend, and it is brimming with charm in every nook and cranny. Unfortunately, it seems to have confused a period atmosphere with period amenities. Call it a bed-and-breakfast; call it a literary time machine. Just don't call it modern comfort.
