If you're a Selena fan, then why haven't you checked this place out yet? We decided to check out this festival back in 2018. My significant other is a die hard Selena fan. She worships her! Really! So I decided to surprise her with tickets to the festival. It was very reasonable in price. Each ticket was $50. It was a 2 day event with live performances from local artists and a few members from Selena's group. The festival ended with a performance fro Becky G. It was pretty windy when we were there both days. It is right next to Corpus Christi Bay. They had plenty of lunch trucks and open bars to enjoy. One of the highlights was the Selena was statue they had unveiled there. It was very full of people both days. At the end of the festival, they had a beautiful fireworks display. During the intermission sets, they had Selena music videos playing in the background. There was plenty of parking lots in the area. We had decided to Uber there, as I'm not much of a fan of driving while I'm on vacation. It is beyond amazing that the Quintanilla family and her husband, Chris Perez, keep the spirit and soul of Selena alive through the festival. It is beyond amazing that the fans come from all across the country to celebrate the life and legacy of such a beautiful singer who was robbed of her life much too soon. I have heard that there were plans to discontinue the festival. That saddens me to hear, as her legacy will alway live on. If that becomes the case, sadly, I can at least say we got to enjoy and experience this amazing festival. It was way beyond what I expected. If it does return, I'd definitely come back. #230-2016: It was…read moreonly 21 years ago that Selena was robbed of her chance to change the musical world once more by means of her crossover album, when her life was tragically ended. All these years have passed and her fans have kept her music and the celebration of her life alive, specially the day of her death by celebrating the greatness of her life. Then, last year magic happened and finally CORPUS CHRISTI (along with many sponsors) finally decided to officially commemorate and honor their most precious flower of all. A week end filled with Selena's music and memories as well as Tejano music performers who have gathered together to still pay their homage and rejoice of the love and amazing music Selena has brought us all in her short life. Suzette may have chosen to never perform as a percussionist without her sister but she has made a few exceptions and has never given up on the family will to keep her legacy alive. Chris has gone on to become a great artist (the Chris Perez Project is but the last of many achievements) but has been, still is and always will be honoring his late wife and the love of his life. Selena's fans storm the quiet shores of Corpus Christi every March 31st and now have even more reasons to come, the Fiesta De la Flor lasts two extremely busy days, is amazingly organized and allows Selena's message of love and humbleness to live on. Yes ladies and germs, best craft beer deal in TX. About 10 different local breweries were represented. Pay your money and you get your 6oz sample glass - yes, not plastic, but GLASS. Nice touch! Held at the Art and Culture center, this event was perfect: perfect weather, perfect parking, plenty of food trucks, plenty of beer, plenty of restrooms, plenty of seating and perfect setting (on the bay!). Compared to other beer festivals I've been to, this is one of the best in terms of overall value, setting, ambiance and variety. Our original plan was to visit a friend for her birthday and then all us go to the beer fest. After our experience, looks like we'll be making this an annual pilgrimage, forget her birthday!

They have a wonderful little gift shop in which the work of the artists that work in the studios upstairs showcase their pieces for purchase. That is not to say that only fine art work is sold here, however - they have a great number of small keepsakes, souvenirs, and functional art (among other things) that make wonderful additions to any home, or perfect and personal gifts. If you haven't been here - even if you are not an art enthusiast - I highly recommend checking it out!

Crab races! This is an annual event at the park in front of…read morethe Rockport Harbor. Ever fall, the city of Rockport sets up large tents, invites world-famous music acts in, and parties on down! This is a great opportunity to get to know the character of Rockport. It's an artistic, eclectic community, and the festival shows this off! There's all kinds of great art booths selling cool paintings, clothing, signs and other great works of art. All the greatest local businesses come out and show off their wares! There is also a gumbo competition! Rockport is known for its seafood- the gumbo here is heavenly. You can go to the competition, and get cups for a few bucks each and try them all. The live music is always on key- with different acts each night. It focuses on country music. There's also a midway, where you can ride the rides! Loopty-loops and Gravitrons abound! Yeehaw! There's plenty of restrooms and lots of beer available (all of it is in 16oz containers!) Be sure to check out this festival and see the best of Rockport!

The Selena Museum was nothing short of amazing. Growing up listening to her music and later…read morewatching her story brought to life in the J.Lo movie, visiting the Selena Museum was a must while I was in Corpus Christi, Texas. The museum does an incredible job showcasing Selena's life and legacy. It's packed with authentic, collectible pieces--her iconic outfits, personal items, and career achievements are all beautifully displayed. You even get to see the actual recording studio where she worked, along with her piano, drums, and her stunning Porsche Targa on display. Seeing all of this in person was truly special and meaningful. This visit definitely felt like paying my respects to a legend. The gift shop is great as well--I picked up a vinyl before leaving, and they also have plenty of shirts and memorabilia. The staff was excellent, the museum itself is clean and well maintained, and the overall ambiance and service were fantastic. I absolutely loved my visit and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area--especially fans of Selena.

Service has always been good and the food I've had in the past has been solid. My most recent visit was this past Saturday. We arrived about thirty minutes early like they recommend. One thing I really enjoy here is the pre-show. They play old trailers and clips, sometimes in their original languages, and it adds a real nostalgia factor for film nerds like me. We had already eaten lunch before the movie so we didn't order any full meals, but their popcorn is excellent. The real butter makes a difference. Ordering was simple through the phone system at the table. For refills or additional items, you fill out the little paper cards and the servers quietly grab them during the movie. Everything came out quickly and the staff stayed friendly and efficient the whole time. The place is always clean and well taken care of. The staff seem to always be in good spirits, which really adds to the overall experience. The seats are the more traditional movie theater style, so if you're used to the newer reclining seats that many theaters have now, that might take a little adjustment. Overall it's a great and unique movie experience. It's also nice not being packed into a loud theater. I really appreciate their strict no-talking and no-cell-phone policy too. It makes it much easier to actually enjoy the film.

This event is poorly run and planned. The traffic was terrible. Although the sand sculptures were…read moreinteresting, clever and sometimes humorous, they were overwhelmed by the huge number of vendors. Clearly the event was not about "art" but more about "money". The traffic was horrendous. It took us two hours to travel from marker 8 to marker 15 (about the length of the event). The Port A police allowed a third lane which slowed things down even more as only two lanes were allowed out at the beach exit. The event needs more beach exits. It may be beyond the ability of the City of Port Aransas to manage this event and it should be moved.
