Mt Pleasant Cemetery - One creepy tree

A very spooky…read moreplace Some cemeteries are very old, some very grand, and others very historical. And then some other old graveyards are just plain spooky. Mt Pleasant Cemetery definitely falls under the spooky category. Sometimes spooky is difficult to define, it can be more of a feeling than anything else. But as soon as I started walking around Mt Pleasant I definitely got the spooky feeling. Perhaps it is because of all the old trees. Lots of ancient, twisted, contorted and torturous trees that actually look like they are in pain adds an element of spookiness to the graveyard. There are a wide variety of different monuments, some simple and others more elaborate. Since this is a 19th century cemetery many types of obelisks are present, some small and others much larger. Once of the most striking things about this graveyard is how close it is to the surrounding houses. The stone wall marking the boundary of the cemetery is shared by several houses and some of the graves are almost in people's backyards. Not the oldest and grandest graveyard in Cape Ann but definitely one of the creepiest. It was probably designed as a Victorian park like graveyard but has gotten progressively spookier over the years. But then the Victorians were a creepy bunch anyway.

Sabia,Jr. was very helpful and caring. Unbelievably she got better and was eating and we were watching TV with her for the next two months. Sadly our mother did pass away. Campbell was very kind and honored any & all requests we made. They were very quick to help but not intrusive. For example her rosary beads were not with her when we arrived it was corrected in seconds, that is literal - seconds. Campbell put together a photo video of her life from when she was very young till a few days before her passing with some nice songs. We picked 2 but they added a couple that made the video even more heart felt, since she was our hero, if you know the song. Each of her children did receive the video, as well as it being on the website obituary since not all her friends & family could attend. Nice Touch! The flowers she received some were going to be donated. They brought the flowers to the nursing home she was at Blueberry Hill in Beverly when the service was over. They included a card saying they were from the family. RIP mom.

My wife passed away from a long fight with cancer in July 2025.  I was devastated.  But I found the…read moreperfect place to honor and celebrate her - at O'Donnell's.  I had an idea of what I wanted to do, but O'Donnell's made it a reality and helped to fill in all of the important details to help her soul shine (she never needed any help with that in life). She touched so many people's lives and I knew we needed to find a special place - beautiful, open, intimate - befitting her spirit, but also large enough to accommodate the hundreds of people who would come to celebrate her life.   The facility was more like a beautiful event space than a dreary funeral home - it was warm and bright with lots of open windows - it just has a different vibe...   With their help, we planned a celebration of life that allowed us all (our family, friends & co-workers) to honor and remember Marissa the way she wanted.   They helped with the digital tribute and even did a second extremely personalized video tribute that we shared during her service.   They presented many options and choices but never forced us into anything and they were great listeners in helping us create the type of memorial that was just what we needed.   There were plenty of staff there to assist, we never worried about a thing. They let us focus on our friends and family as all the details were taken care of.   After the service they have been reaching out to check on me and help with all the people to notify. No one ever wants to do this - but Anthony and the team treated me like we're family.   They were professional but not stuffy... helpful but not bothersome.  They followed up but just enough... I want to especially thank Anthony O'Donnell, Brianna, and Diane for their compassion, kindness, and attention to detail.  I highly recommend O'Donnell's if you experience a loss like my own.
