I made an appointment a month ago. Today, three days before my appointment, they call & say they no longer take my insurance plan so I'll have to pay out of pocket. Now I'll have to wait another 4-6 weeks for an appointment somewhere else that takes my insurance. They should have let me know of the change when I made my appointment! read more

I have been seeing Dr Gibbs since 2011. She is so great. Takes all the time needed to make sure you understand everything. I had an emergency with a torn retina and they worked me in and even set up the appointment with the specialist. She remembers things that we talked about the time before and even my family. I went to Bay Optical 5 years ago and was dissatisfied. The prices were high and the service was bad. They also recommended a type of lenses that were supposedly more resistant to scratching. Those lenses were more easily scratched than normal lenses which an employee admitted to me when I returned for new lenses. I needed new glassed today and thought perhaps I would give them another try. The exam price seemed very high. I left with out getting the exam and went to visionworks. the exam was half of Bay Optical. No attitude either. read more

i asked for a STURDY frame for my reading glasses which I bought at Bay Optical. They were expensive but I felt that they would withstand the frequent hiking I do. I carry the glasses on a lanyard. While hiking in Canada the lens fell out. I brought the glasses back to Bay Optical. They informed me they do not cover lost lens and would charge me $157 to replace it. I will not do business with them again. I can get replacement lens through LENSFACTORY, on line for $79.00. read more

After years of sub-par vision exams at other local stores, I cannot say enough good things about my experience with Bay Optical. The waiting area is very calm and comfortable, and I only waited about 2 minutes before being called in for my eye exam. Dr. Gaibrois gave a great exam, took the time to answer all my questions, and even helped me switch to a less expensive brand of contacts. My experience with the front desk staff was also stellar--I just called to order my contacts, and the woman I spoke with let me know what I could expect to pay, and even gave me information about rebates I might be eligible for. I wouldn't even give this business one star, but need to, to complete the review. Over four years ago, went to an affiliate office in Saratoga Springs, NY and was dissatisfied with what I was being charged for so I disputed the charge. They got paid, however, four years later when I was experiencing an eye problem they took my call, made an appointment for me for and then the night before my appointment at 7pm called to cancel my appointment, stating because I had a dispute with another doctor at an affiliate office they could no longer see me. That's there right I would guess, but why wait until the night before. And I guess it does show that it comes down to Money not the patients health. read more

Adirondack Vision Care is fantastic but unfortunately they don't take my insurance so I was forced to start going to Bay Optical. Some of the ladies in their office sound annoyed whenever you call to ask a question. They're very passive aggressive. The doctor I saw is no longer with them and she made promises they couldn't keep. How long do I have to walk around blind for? I called to tell them how upset I was and they just gave me a corporate couldn't care less answer. Way to look after your customers. My contacts are on back order which I realize is out of their control but they could have done SOMETHING. Instead they chose todo nothing. I've never went this long without contacts or glasses until I started using BAY OPTICAL. Oh and they won't order you ANYTHING until you pay atleast 50%, never have I had an eye care place make me pay up front. So you can't even ORDER until you've paid so if you need to wait until your next paycheck, it'll be that much longer you'll be waiting to see again. I was told they would keep extra contact in stock for me incase of emergency. You think that happened? NOPE. They have zero concern for your safety and wellness. I will be looking for a new optomitrist ASAP. read more
