Taylor was a really wonderful doula, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend her. We started our pregnancy before the pandemic, so were hoping to have a whole birth team with us (myself, my wife, her mom, and Taylor) but things didn't turn out as we planned... Even without her presence in the hospital I'm still very happy we hired her and I think it was well worth it. I might even recommend contracting a doula more now than before. She met with us multiple times during the pregnancy - both in person and then online - and even added an extra session with us to help train me in being my wife's birth-partner in her absence, teaching me about how to advocate for her in the hospital, and how to support her mentally and physically (this is why I say it might be even more worthwhile hiring a doula now - if you're the only one in the hospital with your partner you want to know what you're doing!). She knew everything you'd want her to know and more: laboring positions, birth procedure, answers to all the kinds of questions you might have for a doula, and had so much advice for how to have the kind of birth experience we wanted in a hospital. She also had a really great knowledge of hypnobirthing, though she wasn't judgemental about what kind of pain relief my wife chose to use at all. She even offered to come to our house for the period between active labor starting and when we actually left for the hospital. We took her up on the offer, doing the best we could with social distancing, and she was amazing. We got a taste of what it would have been like if she had been there the whole time! She has a wonderfully calming presence and had all the right words of support to say to my wife, as well as massaging her and even washing her hair (my wife was laboring in the bath when she arrived, which didn't phase her at all, and wanted to wash her hair because she didn't know how long it would be till she would be able to again)! Her being there gave me the time to get a bite to eat and gather all the things to take to the hospital, which was so invaluable. She was also generous enough to come with us in the car, which turned out to be a real blessing because I had to leave them both outside the hospital for 5 minutes while I found parking. Then while we were in the labor and delivery ward she was available my video-call for us the whole time. If all that wasn't enough, she came to see us a couple of weeks after the birth for a follow up visit and brought farmer's market strawberries and plums, as well as herbal tea and loads more information on postpartum care. I think that Taylor is someone for whom being a doula is a real vocation, not just a job, and she shows it in the dedicated, caring, and respectful way she treats her clients. I'm so glad we chose Taylor as our doula and I hope this review persuades you to chose her too! read more
