There are more cops patrolling than actual lifeguards, and getting onto the beach feels like you're going through airport security. Not exactly the vibe you want on a chill summer day. Also it's so annoying that they turn off the showers after 7 pm .. Ridiculous!! The water was murky and dirty--definitely didn't feel like going in. Food is ridiculously overpriced, and finding parking is a battle in itself. Honestly, the place has lost its charm. It ain't Point Pleasant anymore... more like Point Unpleasant. Was originally planning to go to Point Pleasant, but some expensive street parking led us to Manasquan where we found some free parking. We got here before 9am. If you do so, you can typically enter without paying for a beach pass (granted you don't leave the beach premises and return). It helps getting early for that, beating traffic, and enjoying the beach before it gets unbearably hot. Admittingly, it might not be the best beach for swimming, but it's pretty clean and quiet. It's more a surfers beach with the waves, but I had a fun time. I like the quiet nature of the beach and the boardwalk. It's a nice area to walk around. I also enjoyed the swingset which brought back memories of my childhood. Overall, I'd consider coming back here again.

Fisherman's Cove is one of the few dog friendly beaches in New Jersey. Dogs are permitted to be off-leashed before 10AM and after 4PM. All the dogs had a great time playing with each other. The beach was clean and there are two portapotties on site, which were also very clean. There aren't too many restaurants nearby like in Point Pleasant or Asbury Park, so you might want to eat beforehand or bring food with you to the beach.

Yes while there is no boardwalk or places to eat, it's a quiet and peaceful beach. Bringing our own food isn't a problem because we usually always do when we go to the beach. The best part is no fees for entry, no fees for parking. There are porta potties, outdoor showers and a bath house where the RVs park. This is overall a no frills beach that's quiet and definitely a hidden gem
