Wish I had a combi van to drive in - I'd be arriving in true Byron style, pulling into the parking lot of the trendiest fruit and veggie cafe in Australia. This place is awesome for stocking up on all the freshest fruit and veggies, plus gourmet everything including meats, cheeses, nuts, and and beautiful array of hand made breads - oh yes tofu and tempe Even have spices and groceries so you can do a one stop shop - all your edibles will be incredible. We came back for the olive and rosemary sour dough bread which was sold out each day by 11am. On the way out with shopping bags bursting make a date with yourself to sit and relax as the cool sea breezes blows in swishing the palm trees under the shady shade cloth sipping chai lates and enjoy a tasty morsels - designer cakes, pastries, salads or sangers, lounging in the bean bags or at the big friendly communal tables. It would be hard not to get to know people here - it's a 'have-a-chat friendly' place. Love this truly Byron foodie experience.

We stumbled in here on our road trip up the coast. We'd stopped at several butchers in several towns. And while I can say that the meat at all the butchers was superior to the grocery stores, these guys get top honors. During our first visit we bought a couple dry aged steaks, some brekky sausage, and some jerky. ALL of this is made in house. We pan fried the steaks with salt and pepper and were blown away. So blown away in fact that we returned the next day. We bought more steaks and also snatched some prosciutto. Every bite from this place makes me drop my fork, look to the sky, and say "ohhhhh wowwww mmmmmm"

Definitely put it on your bucket list while visiting Byron Bay as that relaxed & hippy vibe you're travelling to BB to connect with all comes together here! Come with an empty belly and a wad of cash as most stalls are cash only with a few exceptions but it'll just make life easier. There are as many food stalls as there are artisan stalls so grab some food and find yourself a patch of grass amongst the buskers and bask in the free love. Peace.

You'll find some very interesting handiwork if you need some souveniers, however the food stuffs here really steal the show. Local honey and macadamias, the Byron Bay Chilli Factory and Byron Bay Cookie Factory (not THOSE cookies, you'll have to ask one of the buskers to share theirs), lots of little cake and bakery stalls as well. Be prepared to ditch the diet for the day. A word of warning, the markets are the main attraction on a Sunday and so parking can be an absolute nightmare, better off leaving the car at the holiday bungalow and walking, it's really not very far from the town centre of main beach.

It sells lots and lots of different things ( not just food) imported from Japan such as ceramic bowls , lanterns , quaint shopping bags etc etc etc. But I was after a snack and bought some gyoza, spring rolls and dumplings @ $2 each. I sat at a little table (only two tables and chairs inside and two outside) and ate while observing the beautiful things for sale. The food was yummy and very fresh . The green tea is free. The two Japanese waitresses are very pleasant and helpful. The shop reminded me of the tea houses portrayed in a Hokusai or Hiroshige wood block prints from the Japanese Edo period. For those seeking an uncomplicated economic meal or some ingredients for cooking Japanese food I recommend Red Ginger . You wont regret it.
