Look - do you want a REAL Cal-Mex experience? This is THE place to go in Melbourne. It has authentic California-Mexican food and it is De-Lish.
The owner has taken great pains to style it after the infamous burrito joints in San Francisco's Mission district (hence the name.) The styling is great, and it's an easy in & out place.
If you're a novice at Mexican food, you might want to take a few minutes to study the menu to decide. You can always just ask what they recommend. You can't go wrong.
I'm a huge fan of their fish tacos! I love 'em. They're as good as you'll find in the Bay Area. (That said, they do get cold if you get them take-away, so I suggest you eat them there.)
You want a taco? A Quesadilla? A salad? Got it! They are all very good, and healthy!
What's that? You want a burrito? Well, that is the name of the place, so you can't go wrong. From a basic beanie to the Godzilla! Just like mamacita used to make!
BEST BURRITOS IN MELBOURNE!!
(And I don't say that lightly.)
Oh, and if you are tired of that watered-down gringo salsa used everywhere else, then you won't be disappointed. You got yer mild salsa, you got yer HOT salsa, you got yer corn salsa, and you got yer NUCLEAR salsa. Wan't more? There''s bottles of habaneros on the tables. Still not enough?? Ask for their super hot stuff behind the counter! (just don't tell ASIO!)
By the way, a friend of mine once told me that he thought they were a bit overpriced. So we went to *another competitor that prides itself on their salsas* (wink). Probably the lowest cost place with OK Mexican food. We ordered your simple burritos like we get at Bay City. That's when you realise they charge you for their 'extras'. By the time we got a beef burrito with beans, cheese, salsa, guacamole, sour cream and a tortilla, it cost MORE than Bay City. (...wondering how you say 'false economy' in Spanish...) I don't want to run the other place down, my point is that they are very competitive for the area and their quality and freshness is easily 10x better.
Did I mention the guacamole?!?! This is a personal pet love of mine. BC's guac is actually better than my homemade. There! I Said it! Seriously, I think their guac is better than those I used to get in San Fran! (I used to live there, so I know my Mex!)
