A small little independent bookstore in Coronado that offers a variety of books. Their biggest section is definitely Fiction, with classics and modern releases all mixed together. They also had a good amount of fantasy and sci fi which was appreciated. They also have some pieces of clothing, scarves, and purses scattered around the store. Everything is priced at normal list price, so nothing unexpected. Overall a nice little store if your looking for a popular release!

Fantastic bookstore with an amazing selection of books. My favorite section is the historical fiction genre. I love when bookstores have their staff review books/make recommendations. Without these recommendations, I wouldn't have picked up these books by Kristin Harmel, which turned out to be phenomenal.

Of course I found myself here!

Such a cute little bookstore! We went in right before closing after our Afternoon Tea outing and (per usual me) I wanted to hop over the bridge and see one of the Independent Bookstores I had heard about. This place did not disappoint. Plenty of selections from all genres, including popular books seen on bookstagrams & reels on IG and TikTok. Also, you will find staff recommendations which always come in handy when looking for your next read. Aisle can be tight but... I like that in a bookstore (yea, I know call me crazy) Service was kind and I must also mention that they have gift items here for any bibliophile. BTW they are also participating in the San Diego Book Crawl April 26th -28th, 2025 I'll be heading back down for that. Respectfully Reviewed.

Gorgeous book store in the neighborhood with all the best sellers and some gems. They have stickers and clothing and the people who work here are really nice and helpful. It is a bit pricier than your local b&n but it's more personable so that works. They do cute little recommendations as well. Loved it.

I had not been in Coronado for a while and noticed this book store/coffee shop. Not sure if new but was totally new to me and I was looking for coffee break while talking to some friends from back in the Bay Area:) I loved perusing the books. There are tons of other gift type of items to buy and the transition to coffee shop is very smooth, very well blended. I like they have several tables to sit outside and people watch. I was not very happy with my coffee because it was a little bit burnt but the croissant was really good and I was not even expecting that. Overall, it's a very pleasant place to visit and have a coffee. I found parking nearby and was able to spend some time visiting some stores too. Great place to stop when you are in Coronado Island.

Came here sometime last year when I was visiting San Diego, and I loved this area in Coronado! Had to stop by Bay Books, and it's such a cute little bookshop! It is on the smaller side, but they have a good selection of all genres, and a huge YA/Children's section. I didn't have much interaction with the employees at the store, but I wasn't in any need of assistance so it wasn't a big deal. I ended up not buying anything this visit, but I found a few gems while I was browsing. I did, however, grab a drink from their adjoined coffee shop and really enjoyed sitting outside people watching. Parking is a bit limited since it's street parking, but it's easy to walk over if you've parked a bit farther. Overall, a great bookshop to stop by if you're in Coronado!

Stumbled across this cute little books store while in Coronado. They have a cute coffee shop they are connected to and it's a perfect place to buy your Summer Beach Reads! My daughter found a book she wanted and I picked up a cute shopper tote!

VEGAN PASTRIES!!!! Vegan pastries! Did I mention they have vegan pastries!?!? I was so excited to hear they have vegan pastries. I bought 4! The chocolate donut is amazing. No one would even know it's vegan. Excellent service.

Stopped in here for some coffee while walking around Coronado. Looked like a popular spot with a few people already in line and some sitting at the tables out front. The coffee shop is at the beginning of the library, so it'd be a great place to hang out and get work done. I tried their non-fat latte and it was really good! The staff was very friendly and even shared that the drinks may take some time to come out because there were a few orders already ahead of us. It looked like they have a great selection of pastries and even savory options of pizzas. Really cute spot and the coffee is tasty!

I've been reading so many books due to covid and now my goal is to visit all the bookstores in San Diego. Especially small businesses like Bay books Coronado. I found out about this book store from a delivery my daughters got. A few books for them to read while heir dad was gone. Being in beautiful Coronado alone is amazing. I found parking right in front of the store which was nice! As you enter the store you are greeted by so many am amazing books. It was magical. So many to choose from and they also have a kids section in the back. They also sell mugs, smalls gifts and book marks. There's a little section with puzzles and toys as well. I also noticed there was a small coffee shop that sells coffee and pastries. Staff was nice and we walked out with lots of books and goodies. You can also order online and get your books delivered to your house!

Front of store with plenty of seating!

I love to give books or gift cards to bookstores to children. Bluestocking Books is the kind of bookstore I would specifically go out of my way to buy gifts for people, or to (gasp) buy a book for myself. There are little cozy nooks around the bookstore, as there should be in a bookstore. There's also a section for kids, with a little table and some reading material to peruse. Inexplicably, Bluestocking Books is closed on Wednesdays! What an interesting day to be closed, but I guess you have to be closed at least one day, right? Why not Wednesday? The people who work here are very friendly and helpful, and there's just a palpable welcoming vibe emanating from the store. It's a nice place to browse and find the perfect book.

The bf also got a kick out of it since he worked as a theater manager for years and loves checking out different theaters. The inside of the store was pretty similar to other Barnes and Nobles, maybe a bit smaller. Good amount of book merch and themed table sections, but I think the lighting could have been a bit brighter. They were running some great deals before new years so I picked up a few new books. I have noticed that sometimes Barnes and Noble doesn't pick up the discounts listed on the stickers on the front covers of books, so I pay extra attention when those are rung up. The guy at the register was super nice and corrected it, no problem!

The employee who helped me offered to call another store in the area, which was really nice of her! I ended up getting it at the Mission Valley location. Overall worth a visit, if only to take pictures of the cool sign. Otherwise, it's like any other Barnes & Noble.

While the bookstore itself has a decent & varied selection of new books, and they'll order any book for you that they don't have, it is not the most pleasant place to shop. As a bibliophile and an English teacher, I really want to like and support Warwick's, but unfortunately, they've treated me poorly on multiple occasions which makes it challenging for me to give them more chances. There are many book sellers & employees, but they are not very helpful and they treat you like an inconvenience or worse. The right side of the store is book-centric while the left side of the store is mostly stationery & cards, writing utensils, gift items, and tchotchkes. Today, I purchased a book and a pen refill with a credit that I had at the store. I requested the pen refill from one counter, and I had to go to the book counter to pay for my book. Instead of giving me the refill so I could bring it over to the book counter and pay for both items with my credit, the employee brought the refill over herself and told a 2nd employee while pointing at me that, "that woman over there is also getting this pen refill along with her book." Then the 2nd employee handed the refill to a 3rd employee who stashed it behind the counter while I waited for my turn to pay. Keep in mind that the pen refill was a mere $6 item but they treated it like a precious gem that would surely compel me, if I held it in my own hands, to run out of the store with it without paying for it. Meanwhile, I'm holding the much pricier book that I'm going to purchase in my hands, but I rapidly felt like turning on my heels and vacating the store, and leaving the book behind, of course, because that moment was just so strange and uncomfortable. Over the past ten years, I have regularly patronized this store and I've purchased items here multiple times per year. However, there is no recognition, no friendliness, nothing to indicate that I'm more than just a tourist popping in on vacation. At the very least, a friendly greeting would do, but no such luck. Every time I cross the threshold, I feel a wall of snootiness that is just unpleasant and takes away from what could be a lovely shopping experience. As I'm sure you've figured out by now, items are definitely on the pricey side here. You can certainly find a better value and probably way friendlier service at other bookstores outside of LJ. I think Warwick's probably provides a different type of shopping experience for patrons depending on who the employees perceive them to be, even if they are way off the mark. C'est la vie. Just know that if you are a POC and you shop here, you may have an unpleasant experience, but I certainly hope that you don't! Peace.
