We have tried on several occasions to visit in person over a 2-year time period to view animals and no one is around during posted hours. Today, a miracle! We talked to a lady exiting the gate who rudely said you must set an appointment. She did not know I was calling the number while my husband was talking to her. He noticed she looked at the phone ringing. She ignored the calls. It is our belief this "adoption center" is not amiable to adopting out the captured pets. We hope they are not unnecessarily euthanizing animals.

The facility is very clean and run more like a very upscale vet clinic then a shelter. The workers are very friendly. There's so many beautiful creatures that want to give love and be loved if we just take the time to go and visit with them until we find our new friend. Don't spend money on designer animals when these perfect and beautiful souls are there by no fault of their own waiting to be rescued. You'll want to take them all home that the hardest part. After reading the numerous 1-star reviews, I see why…read moreand it's because almost all of them are missing the point and judging it based on some preconceived idea or notion that isn't remotely applicable. To operate at such a large scale with incredibly thorough medical care imposes a high financial risk for any business let alone one that is focused on pets found in horrendous conditions all across the state. I cannot believe there is 1-star review for someone saying, "you should just go get a bred dog for these prices." That's a different can of worms which is incredibly unfortunate to even read as that completely defeats the purpose shelters work so hard for. Needless to say, I'd much rather pay more $$ for a rescue than a bred animal so someone can make a pretty penny forcing animals to give birth for their pocketbook's sake. Now, why this shelter is actually amazing and does not deserve anything less than 5 stars (other than strikes for employee customer service experiences as of course those are more than valid): The state of Texas is so behind when it comes to managing strays and animals in general across the state. There are so many shelters that resort to putting down animals as there is such a massive volume of pets abused, isolated, abandoned, etc. I won't get into that, but suffice to say, the state/conditions a lot of these animals come in with are less than stellar. This shelter goes above and beyond for Texas' animals' wellbeing and ensures they are healthy and well looked after, not stuck in cages all day long. Moreover, they reach out to other states who are much more kind to pets and bring literal truckloads of animals up interstates to deliver to folks who will love and care for them. I think that's fantastic as it helps provide a need in other areas while also lessening the incredible burden Texas has put on itself with its mediocre pet laws and prosecution efforts. TL;DR - I received the most amazing 1-year old "aggressive breed" from this shelter who is an absolute angel and fixture in our family. The amount of care and trust they put in has absolutely wowed me and I am sure to attend their fundraisers and help in other ways I can. If you are looking for a life partner, please go here and help support the tremendous things they do for Houston and the state as a whole. Know that your money will be much better served here than elsewhere and while you may have bad customer service experiences, just know that the people that work here are more animal people than people people lol and that's a good thing!

Where do I even start with this place? I had a dog abandoned in my backyard, I called animal…read morecontrol and they brought him here to get mixed with the rest of abandoned dogs. They microchip and give him his rabies shot but refused to give me paperwork. I've had this dog for a year under the pretense that he's a foster. This dog is not leaving his pack or his person. I've called and left 7 messages to get his paperwork. Nobody will ever call you back and you're lucky to even have someone answer the phone. This place is entirely packed with so many dogs. They advertise being a "no kill" shelter when they instantly name him as aggressive because he's freaked out about what just happened to him. How would you react if someone took you from your home, left you somewhere, and then a put inside a cage in a room full of noise from others that've been abandoned too. I want his paperwork and I'm not paying for adoption. This guy is a special needs pup and I am without a doubt his person, he only answers to my commands. Hopefully they actually read these and freaking return my calls.

I have not come across many blue point mitted ragdolls and this litter was just beautiful. We love our Batman and Robin duo. She was super meticulous with their vet care. She gave me blankets with their moms scent on them, a bag full of toys, a bag full of dry food and a flat of wet food for them to get me going with them. Her paperwork was very thorough about the schedule of vaccines and not to do 2 at the same time, she really knows what she's doing with this particular breed of cat. This breed of cat is sensitive as kittens so she made sure to communicate the importance of telling the vet when their next set of shots was due, not to give them 2 shots at the same time or they will get sick. I really really appreciated how thorough she was about how to care for these cats. She's love them and wants them going to good, responsible people. Thank you Beverly!
