    Bailey was adopted in 2002

I have adopted my last two dogs here over a span of nearly twenty years. This is the only no kill shelter in Galveston county. It is so nice to see the dogs running with their friends in the play yards instead of being cooped up 24/7. The people who work here truly care for the animals and it shows. Keep up the great work!

If I could give this place 0 Stars I would would never go back ... A few months ago my husband and I purchased/adopted a dog for our 3 boys ages 1-9 because we were looking for a family pet . The dog we got had been sent back to the shelter prior to us adopting her and they would tell us what was the reason but as soon as we brought her home we figured out why . The dog is aggressive, untrainable and also never calms down . We've taken her to doggy classes , purchased calming medicine from the vet , tried Pet friendly CBD products and nothing seemed to work . After 4 months we figured enough was enough our children were scared of her . I called the adoption place to see if we could be refunded or get another dog and they denied us but they wanted us to bring the dog back with all of her paperwork. But if they aren't willing to work something out knowing that the dog had problems before hand is just ridiculous. Now we have to find another shelter to send the pup back to because I'll be dammed if they get her back .

I love this place. This is the only no kill shelter in the area. It was the best day of my life when I met my kitten here. He, and I have been together over a year, and I thank this shelter every day for taking great care of him before he found his home with me.

We just adopted our third cat from Bay Area Pet Adoptions. All three cats came as described by…read morethe volunteers. They are an incredible source of information on each cats behavior. Last cat was for my wife. She wanted a lap cat that loves attention. She was just not seeing it from Trixie at the cattery but volunteers assured us she was the one. Sure enough as soon as we got her home she was a loving lap cat she wanted. Could not have been any happier with any of the three cats. Thank you Bay Area.

I would give them a zero if I could. The volunteer at Petsmart was very nice. The woman who makes…read morethe adoption decisions was a horrible person. She was snide and rude. I wish I remembered her name. She didn't believe anyone with children should receive a pet, specifically one with an autistic child (whom the cat bonded with immediately). Her theory was that a cat should have it's own room in your house. She told me that because their animals were never euthanized and they ran on donations, they can deny anyone they want and to "go find a place without standards" if I wanted a cat. That cat was still in a cage a year later. It seems as if they don't want to adopt out, just receive funding. I picked a kitten at the Webster shelter from an abandoned litter. He's wonderful and happy; well loved by both my children and we've had him for a year now. Basically: do not donate to this place. Do not adopt from this place.

TLC is the ONLY place I trust for my cat, Nala's care and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THEM…read more They are always there when I need them- for example - A few years ago, I was only 100 miles into our first cross-country road trip when my cat, Nala, started getting "motion sickness". He wasn't eating or drinking and he started vomiting every few minutes. I called TLC and told them I was traveling back east on the interstate and needed an OTC medicine that I could find at a truck stop or gas station mini-mart for Nala's motion sickness. Dr. Richardson got on the phone, and started consulting her medical books to determine a safe OTC medicine I could give Nala, the correct SAFE dosage, frequency, and advised of the best way to administer it to my cat. I immediately sought out the medicine and gave Nala the first dose, as instructed. Within 20 minutes, Nala was feeling better, drinking water again, and resting comfortably. Dr. Richardson called me back two more times during the next 48 hrs to check on Nala's status and I was happy to advise Nala did great throughout the rest of the 1,500 mile road trip with no more incidents. That level of genuine care and emergency veterinary support I received in that situation with my cat, while traveling (**without any compensation**) is something I have never before experienced with a veterinarian and that is why I ONLY trust the veterinarians at TLC Animal Hospital to care for my (current and future) FURR-BABIES. For those concerned about costs - I understand, however, TLC DOES cooperate with online sites, such as 1-800 PETMEDS. PLEASE NOTE: ***TLC also DOES NOT include ADJUVENTS in VACCINES!! This is HUGE because ADJUVENTS cause 90% of negative side effects to animals from vaccines. I hope this input helps! ~Vicki C. of Houston, Texas

The care our animals have received at TLC Animal Hospital and board has been above and beyond…read more We have a deer chiuaua named Goose who is 7 years of age, and we have a puppy that weighs in at 30lbs named rerun. They've known him since they could carry him around with one hand. And they helped us when it was time to say goodbye to our loving cat Abigail. She was with us for 27 years. It felt as if one of our own children had passed. And they were with us every step of the way. Checking in on us. Sending us cards. Even on the anniversary of her passing. When ever Rerun or Goose have to go in for anything, they act as if it were a trip to a friend's house. Who wouldn't want that for their pets. Especially when we have to leave them behind. Whether for a trip or just the day. Our Animals are always looking happy when we drop them off or pick them up. That does my heart good.
