I have known Lea Ritter almost four years. I first met her when she was interning/apprenticing with the midwife with whom I was working to catch my third baby. From the very moment I met her, Lea's strong, centered presence became a very important part of my midwifery care. I can say with certainty that my time working with her was an integral, invaluable aspect of the wonderful midwifery care I received during and after my pregnancy, with my care being far more fulfilling and vibrant because she was so competently involved. I can't imagine what my experience would have been like without her.
At the time, Lea was knowledgeable and thorough without ever overstepping what I imagine is a delicate role of working with a midwife in the journey of her training. Her easy-going yet totally capable demeanor lent itself perfectly to working with my situation, and I am confident she would be more that able to work compatibly with anyone and everyone, including any personality, ethnicity, or economic status. In honesty, I would have totally trusted Lea at the time to be my primary provider with as involved and as capable as she was during our entire time working together. Knowing that she has since completed all of the necessary steps to become a CPM, (and having had the privilege of being connected to her very exciting and totally thorough journey, thanks to the wonder of social media), I must say that I think Marin and the Bay area in general are deeply fortunate to have Lea working for women and babies in the pregnancy and birthing world. And having interacted with and having enjoyed an affectionate, friendly relationship with Lea in an ongoing way since the birth of my third child, I can also say she is clearly a loved and respected community member, which also bodes well for her wonderful gifts as a a very capable midwife.
With a strong love of midwifery myself and having done years of birth work as a pre-natal yoga teacher and birth doula in the Seattle area (before I moved her four years ago) when I had the opportunity to know and work with many midwives, (as well as working with quite a few midwives during my own three pregnancies), I can say with certainty that Lea is one of the very best. She is so passionate about the work she does, and it comes through to imbue confidence and joy in her clients. Any woman who would be able to to know and work with Lea during with her pregnancy and birth of her baby would be indescribably fortunate indeed. I cherish the memories of working with Lea, and I am grateful for how she touched my life and made me a better person due to our relationship, as well as most competently contributing to the incredible midwifery care I received. Truth be told, I deeply wish I could have a fourth baby, just so I could work with Lea again. read more
