Whatever is discussed at our monthly check ups, whether its a change in progress, something else to try, even when managing my health isnt the easiest, I leave her office optimistic and with a smile on my face, even at my most difficult times. I am 31 years old, disabled since 14 due to daily chronic pain, daily migraines and a syndrome diagnosis where I dislocate joints often. I see multiple doctors monthly for the past 16 years and the one professional I trust with my medical care the most is Svetlana Kim. At our monthly check ups Svetlana Kim makes me feel heard and seen as a patient, which means the world to me. At times i have been exhausted by the process of dealing with my disability, Svetlana has always been in my corner. Whether it was coordinating my care with other doctors or proceedures, explaing thoroughly new techniques/potential treatments and procedures to help me with pain management, or and seeing me at monthly appointments, I leave her office every time feeling hopeful and understood patient. Svetlana is an authentic, caring wonderful human being and hands on doctor willing to address my needs even at my most painful of times in life. I cannot say enough nice things about Svetlana, nor overstate how much I value being her patient. Even though my condition is life long, even though a lot of my days are pure struggle and pain, with Svetlana Kim's help, every month, at our appointments, whatever symptoms is flaring the most, Svetlana Kim re-instills the trust i have in my medical care and takes alot of fear out of the pain I deal with. From my very first appointment with Svetlana Kim, I have left every appointment more reassured and actually really happy with mycare. -Tiffany

I had recently undergone back surgery and mentioned that my leg had been hurting. Even though I was there for my hip, Dr. Feng immediately took the concern seriously. He stopped what he was doing, performed a thorough examination of both of my legs, and told me he was concerned I might have blood clots. He sent me directly to the hospital for testing, where it was confirmed that I had blood clots in both legs. I am incredibly grateful for Dr. Feng's attentiveness, compassion, and professionalism. His willingness to listen caretully and go beyond the immediate reason for my visit made all the difference. I truly believe his actions may have saved my life, and I will always be thankful to have had him as my doctor.

That ended up being one of the best parts of the whole process. Health Link was at my home within 24 hours. They stayed on top of my recovery, came back again when there was concern about my sutures, and made sure I felt comfortable with what I was supposed to be doing at home. Their occupational therapist was especially great-very patient, practical, and easy to work with. I also appreciated how well Golden State and Health Link seemed to communicate. I never felt like I was being passed around between two different companies. The transition from surgery to home care felt organized and smooth. If you're having surgery at Golden State and need home health afterward, I would definitely ask about Health Link. They made the recovery side of the experience much easier.

Very efficient & to the point, making sure you're comfortable & quick to get you through the process, which I liked. Got there at ten, was out by noon. There was quite a bit of communication & information before the session, which was appreciated. Emails about pre-op procedure, which is very important, & complicated. Phone calls to check in, make sure I had everything & was ready, were very helpful & reassuring. The day of the procedure, I arrived & the intake nurse got me set up, then was wheeled into the operating room, put to sleep & when I woke up, it was done. The worst part as usual (this is my 2nd colonoscopy) was the prep, the endless going to the bathroom. My 1st colonoscopy I was awake, and though it is less complicated in that you are not put to sleep, I didn't like it. This one was pretty painless & simple by comparison. I prefer being sedated. Would highly recommend this facility and staff. Dr. Takyar, my surgeon, was bright, communicated well and felt I was in good hands all the way. The group of four in the operating room worked well as a team. If I had to do another colonoscopy, it would be with this group!

I have been bringing my daughter here since she was about 10 months old. However, 3 weeks ago, my daughter fell at the beach. A few days later, I found a deep cut above her top front tooth and called these folks for an appointment. They were kind and scheduled us right away which was so appreciated. Once onsite, everyone was kind, the office was beautiful and the assistant took an xray of my daughter's tooth. Then we met with a filling doctor because Dr. Zaeni was out on vacation in Iceland. Well, this doctor looked at my daughter's xray and said that the tooth looked healthy, then she quickly flipped my daughter's top lip and said it had to be extracted. I thought I was going to die. My entire body started shaking and all I could hear was this doctor saying it's ok- kids lose teeth all the time. Well, maybe if you're in the dental profession. But I spend a significant amount of time with kids and rarely see 3 year olds walking around this way. I tried to explain to her that the gum flaps and that I didn't see any puss balls or anything indicating infection. So she asked me to show it to her using my dirty hands, not even her instruments. I asked about prosthetics and she said kids push them out with their tongue and it's not worth it- she strongly recommended pulling the tooth right away, as to not infect the other teeth and adult teeth. So I left in tears, worried about my kids future and a prescription for amoxicillin. So I went home and talked to my mom who is a dental assistant. She recommended calling them back and asking more questions. So I called back and talked to this doctor again. She again insisted on taking the amoxicillin right away and pulling the tooth asap. There was no other solution! Well I gave my daughter the amoxicillin, but also called 5 other pediatrics dentists in Concord, Danville, Oakland, Berkeley and SF. Let me tell you, all 5 of these pediatric dentists concurred that the tooth is healthy for now and there is absolutely no reason to pull it. Also the amoxicillin is not needed, but since I started it, I had to finish giving it. Now my daughter is fine, but has taken antibiotics for absolutely no reason and has an upset stomach. Please note that I also took her to the regular pediatrician and that doctor also confirmed that she didn't see any sign of infection in her mouth. So 6 doctors total have confirmed that this doctor did not do a thorough job and prescribed medication haphazardly. I hope Karma gets you. I completely believe that this doctor saw a vulnerable stay at home mom and thought she could make a quick buck for her boss and make herself look good. Therefore, I absolutely do not recommend this office. If you care about your child, I hope you come to this office knowing that they have been negligent in our case and may be providing you with a false diagnosis as well.

My…read moresurgery was seamless (well, OK, three small seams on my abdomen) and recovery was quick, easy and nearly pain free. EBMT told me that Dr. Kerlin is known for careful work. Since the body is good at healing itself, some surgeons just cut and dissect and manipulate the tissues without much care beyond not doing any real damage. Dr. Kerlin on the other hand, is known for doing the least "collateral damage" reasonably possible given the surgery to be done. And it sure shows in how little pain I had and how quickly I recovered. She also has a very pleasant manner and is very easy to talk to about your condition and the surgery process. The only reason I take away one star is for her staff. Her patient coordinator did a really terrible job of pre-op coordination. I needed to get labs done and an EKG. She said she would mail the forms and instructions the day after I scheduled my surgery, six weeks ahead. Instead, I had to call two more times before she actually mailed them, and they arrived with so little time before my surgery that I had to drop everything, reschedule clients, and spend half a day at John Muir Medical Center to get them done in time before the surgery. I would still use Dr. Kerlin if I need surgery again, but now I know that I have to stay on top of her staff and not let them put things off.
