She's very professional, but not in that stuck-up "I'm-a-doctor-and-you're-not-so-that-makes-me-better-than-you" sort of way. She's professional in that kind of "I'm a kid's doctor that really cares about patients" sort of way. The office takes up a small, brick building. The waiting room is nice and quaint, and her staff is great. Dr. Brown herself has always been wonderful with our kids. Even though they've gotten to the age where she only sees them during their yearly check-ups, she always remembers them (or at least does a great job acting as if she remembers them) and is always very engaged and speaks with them and us equally. She always explains thing to my wife and I in a way that makes things easy to understand (not an easy task for a doctor, I'm sure). She has great bedside manner and knows how to relate to the kids. Two great things that I want share. When one of our daughters had infected lymph nodes and had to have surgery (at just two-years-old) Dr. Brown was very supportive and stayed in contact with us and the doctors at the hospital (Cincinnati Children's...another great place)making sure we were getting all the information we needed, and keeping us up to date on her progress. And a different time when another one of our daughters had some blood work done, about an hour later Dr. Brown herself called and told us that there were some things in the blood work that she was a bit concerned with and said she wanted us to take her over to Children's to get some additional work done just to make sure there was nothing seriously wrong. She had already called the hospital and when we got there they were already waiting for us. All because Dr. Brown made the effort to call and make sure we were well taken care of. Only two things that I would say are a bit on the negative side. Because of her great reputation she is always very busy. Which results in long waits. If you have an appointment at 10:00, chances are the doctor isn't going to be able to see you until at least an hour afterwards (sometimes it's almost two hours). The other negative was an insurance issue. A few months back I lost my job which meant I lost my insurance. Because of that we had to put our girls on Medicaid, which Dr. Brown doesn't accept. That was kind of a bummer. But, got a new job with new insurance (actually same carrier as my old job) so that's good. Dr. Brown is great with kids, great with parents, and is a really great doctor. I trust her completely with the well-being and health of my girls. Mahalo, and enjoy.

You can see how genuinely she likes and cares about kids. The whole practice at Pediatricians of Hyde Park is great- the building (now 3666 Paxton) is nice and new, with plenty of exam rooms that each have fun, kid-oriented wallpaper. We always get a quick phone response, and it is never a problem to get an appointment with one of the doctors in the practice if we need them. We've been seen by a few of the other doctors and they all are great.

So over a year past the first two people to review.** My first time going in was Thanksgiving day 2009, since my doctors office was closed and I had a bad sinus infection or strep, I forget. And I was not about to go to the emergency room for that. I was just happy to go see a doctor when I needed it without having to pay an arm and a leg for a copay. The wait was not all that long, but they only take walk-ins, so if many people are sick, you will have to wait. Just how it goes. If its a real emergency, GO TO THE EMERGENCY ROOM!!! I've dealt with two different doctors while there, both quite competent doctors who were easily able to help me out. And after running tests that did not take too long, knew how to treat me. I only go here when my own doctor can't take me in (due to holiday, them being closed or too busy). If you are sick, in the area and need to go see a doctor and can't wait for the holiday or weekend to pass or for your own doctor to free up their schedule, this is a good place to go to. Its open late (until 10 pm, I believe) and open holidays and weekends.

I came in today with another sore throat. This isn't strep - a rapid strep test at another doctor came back negative. The doctor I saw today could only be described as unprofessional- right down to his Hawaiian shirt, which I could have overlooked had the service I received here been adequate. He seemed utterly uninterested and dismissive of my symptoms. My lymph nodes were swollen, the entire right side of my throat is on fire. After feeling my neck for a moment, he said that he guessed they can take a throat culture. He walked out of the room (he talked to me for maybe 2 minutes; the waiting room was empty. There were 0 other patients for him to help) and he sent a nurse in to do the throat culture. I was dismissed with no more answers, which would be fine if he had seemed remotely interested in getting me the best treatment. Just go to another urgent care. There is one in Hyde park plaza, and I've been to the Med+ one on Montgomery and it was nice.

I asked the first person I found at the counter to the left. I was told the directory doesn't turn on for another five minutes when I asked where I could find a directory to find where to go. Finally I walked back to her after walking away and asked where the area was I was trying to find. This woman should not be the first person people encounter as she was the most rude for an 8:00 am appointment when there is nothing marked. The person who checked me in for an ob/gyn appointment was the most friendly as I was not impressed by the doctor as well. I would rather go to UC Health West Chester and will not return to this location.

For my pediatrics visit, the nurse was military style While giving shots to my young children and unprofessional. My kids felt uncomfortable with her bedside manner. Made me switch. Loved the doctor though.
