We recently had an appointment for our cat with a urinary tract infection. This kitty is still very skittish because she was feral most of her life. We thought she would have to be sedated to be examed and treated. Well, we were very surprised AND pleased that it didn't come to that. Jasmine somehow knew how to handle and talk to her so that she would relax. She was still scared but we got it done and she is all better now. Since the first visit everyone there from Dr Tran to Dr Zach have been more than accommodating for us. We have had several emergency visits and they have ensure to see us and check on everyone. The staff at Baxter and Cleo has been amazing to our family. We recently lost our 1 year old girl Newfoundland Lucy and the staff provided the best care possible to her before she eventually passed. They came to our house to do the euthanasia. It was the hardest thing our family has ever gone through, losing such a young dog. She was such an amazing girl, maybe even too good for this world. The staff at B&C made a huge difference coping with everything and sent us a very heartfelt card after Lucy's death with everyone's signature and kind words. I can't say enough how much I love this vet clinic!!! After moving to the area a year ago, we found this clinic close by and I can never look back. I'm truly so grateful to the staff here but especially Dr Irell. The doctor and vet techs always take such good care of my fur babies and make me feel at ease to know they have our pets' best interests at heart. I was shopping around for a new veterinarian clinic to take my new kitten to and I decided to give Baxter & Cleo a try! They've been open for a couple of months now and a bonus that they're in Spring Branch. I called for an appointment hoping to go in today and luckily they were able to see me! Emma was so kind and helpful over the phone. I went online to fill out the new patient paperwork and it was such a breeze! Wished more places had paperwork online like them. I brought my kitten in and was checked in by Emma. So friendly and professional from the very start! She answered all of my questions. The nurse or tech came by to grab my kitty to take him to the back and do the exam. This I was a little unsure about because I've always gone to the room with my pet during the vet visits. I understand why I couldn't go back due to COVID protocol plus a lot of other vet clinics won't allow their owners to go back or even inside the building. I hope that once this passes I can go back into the room with him! After my kitty's visit, Dr. Tran came out to go over everything they did during the checkup. I really liked how friendly Dr. Tran was. I know that my kitty was in great care. Overall a very pleasant experience, the price was definitely better than my previous vet so I'll probably be going here now. Thank you!! read more

Found a dog on the street and this was the closest vet open on a Saturday (2 stars for that). They did a heartworm test and he was negative, but they didn't tell me to retest him so it was a year later before we found out he was positive for heartworms. They told me it would be about $1000 to treat him. Beware. They quote you one price but it's always higher than the estimate. They were off by about $300 which includes things like a catheter. That is a convenience (I was told by the doctor) so the technicians don't panic if he has an allergic reaction. Two treatments in with no reaction and they still insist he needs a catheter and monitoring for the third shot. They make him stay all day to monitor for an allergic reaction and then they charge you a day care fee. They don't provide overnight care for patients so that's four round trips in two days. I liked Dr Tran but don't like Zach. He doesn't come out and talk to the parents. Instead he has the technician go back and forth with all your questions. I expressed a concern over a medication and the technician literally said that he has to take the medicine so "he doesn't die at home." Seriously with the fear? This dog had no negative reaction to the first or second treatment. He's not going to die and there was no discussion about an alternative medication. I don't even know why they bother giving you a quote if you have no control over the care your pet receives. I know they have the best interest of the pets in mind but I didn't know enough to take him somewhere else. This is a very expensive vet. The only exception? They give you a great price on heartworm preventative. How ironic! read more

The doctors are great and follow up with you; really seem invested in the after care. The staff is kind too which is always an important sign as to how good the business /doctor really is. They were also affordable and reasonable about the amount of intervention needed to improve the quality of life for my very old dog. Since seeing them, he's getting around fairly well, with seemingly no pain and no signs of anxiety. (He was crippled up with joint /back issues and anxious/unable to rest). Dr. Irell took great care of my dog Trigger when he had a aural hematoma. When I called in the morning they were able to see him within the hour. He had to have surgery, the whole team there took great care of him and gave him lots of love. They also emailed after surgery to check in. I went to Baxter and Cleo for the first time with my two dogs. We had a great experience! The clinic is clean, and we were seen quickly. One of my dogs had a rash which worried me. Dr. Tran saw it and noted it was allergic. After a thorough exam and some medicine, it's cleared up quite quickly. My pup is feeling great. The visit for both dogs was reasonably priced as well. Dr. Irell effectively killed my cat while taking a urine sample. I could hear her screaming in the treatment area. Minutes later I was brought back to my lifeless, glass eyed cat. He said she was in respiratory distress. I ended up having to euthanize her and when the vet tech couldnt hit the vein, Dr. Irell just stood there listing to the stethoscope instead of stepping up to put my baby out of pain. He never even apologized. In Veterinary medicine, you are not supposed to continue when an animal is fearful. Dr. Irell continued to attempt a urine draw when he already told me he didnt feel much in her bladder AND after she peed herself on the table. So many things went wrong. Techs should have stepped up and said something to stop the procedure. My sweet baby died a horrific death for absolutely no reason. This all could have been prevented. I am left with a giant hole in my heart. When I think of my sweet cat, I cant think of good memories but just the horrific way her life ended. I am so devastated. Edit (Response to Vet). Yes my cat was senior but I hate when vets shame you because you don't bring your animals in each year. Most of us don't even go to the Doctor every year ourselves. And as an indoor cat she was healthy and being fed a premium pet food. She was not overweight or underweight. She came to the vet because she had peed on the bed ONCE and that not normal. I always bring my pets to the vet when there is a problem. All of the courtesy things done after my cat passed could have been totally avoided had my cat been treated appropriately during the exam. read more

We are new to the area, and literally just 1 week in our new home, our senior dog began to pee what appears to be full on blood. I called surrounding vets immediately and Baxter & Cleo was able to take us in on the same day. The clinic is very clean and cute. Upon arriving, we were met with very friendly staff. Our old man was seen promptly and from what I can tell, the vet tech was gentle and careful with my fragile old man. Dr. Irell examined our old man and we agreed to a blood panel which includes a urine analysis. We got lab back in about 24 hours, and unfortunately, didn't get the news we were hoping for. Regardless, Dr. Irell was super...real... it was like asking a friend for advice and that friend being super understanding and empathic, and you don't have to worry if this business is just trying to get you to agree to xyz tests and procedures. It was completely pressure free, but sound and logical advice was available. We came back to our second appointment with my old man. Not much interact this time, as it was just a drop off and pick up. Days later, I noticed my old man's dew claws were trimmed. And I was so confused because this has been in my mind for a while, that I need to trim these two toes. Turns out, the clinic trimmed them and they didn't even tell me about it, which is so incredibly kind of them to do. They didn't even try to get any credit for it or brag about doing it for free, they just did out of the goodness of their own heart. This means a lot to me and I'm so happy I found this local neighborhood vet clinic. I have been using this practice since moving into the area in 2021. It is a great practice -- Dr. Tran is very knowledgeable and thorough and the nurses /staff are helpful and friendly. I think my dog gets great care there and I love that the hours are very convenient, the prices are reasonable, and the seeming commitment to the neighborhood. Give this practice a try -- it may be a little smaller but it is far more personal and I have found it more accessible and better care than some of the larger veterinarian practices. read more

This past summer, our dog got very sick and had to be referred to a specialist. Even when being treated by the specialist, Dr. Tran answered questions we had and helped us understand and make difficult decisions regarding his care, often sending us long, thoughtful email responses well after hours. DO NOT bring your pets to this clinic. I brought them completely healthy cat for regular Rabies vaccination and check-up and I received him back with ruptured eardrum (I found out about it the following day in different clinic), anisocoria, partial loss of hearing, being unable to eat or drink, disoriented, being in pain, I can't imagine how much pain. Dr Irell and nurse Natalie ruptured Rich's right eardrum during ear cleaning. And without telling me anything they just let us go home. They didn't care that he was in pain, they didn't care that he could develop severe infection and even worse complications, they just didn't care. When I saw Rich's eyes right after we got back home (the pupils were of different sizes and third eyelid was covering almost half of right eyeball) I called them right away and they told that Dr Irell simply removed a piece of hair out of Rich's eye. Then I saw all other symptoms that Rich was having and you could easily see that something was terribly wrong. Plus they vaccinated Rich with the vaccine he already had even though I gave certificate from the previous clinic to front desk before the appointment. But Dr Irell and nurse Natalie just didn't bother to check Rich's records. Later they just told me that not going to charge me for that vaccine and Rich should be fine. Right, who cares if the cat is going to have complications coz of double dose of vaccine. Next day I took Rich to his old vet clinic in Sugar Land where we found out that his eardrum is ruptured, he's been receiving appropriate treatment and hopefully will recover completely. My husband and I were trying to talk to Dr Irell and his nurse in person, we asked them to be honest and tell us what happened to Rich, no result. We were talking to Dr Tran, the only solution she offered was free follow up with them. Seriously??? After they literally tortured my cat. We sent them email to which they didn't even reply and now they are saying that we can't talk to them, only with their lawyers and insurance. It's incredible how protected they are. Technically they can do to your pet whatever they want and then just hide behind insurance and lawyers and call police on you to leave the premises because they just don't want to talk to you. And now we are not allowed to be at the premises at all. That's indeed good customer service and taking care of pets. These kind of people shouldn't be allowed around animals at all. read more

My wife took our dog Roscoe in because he had a cough. He sent our dog home with some meds to treat his cough. Unfortunately the vet there is either under equipped or inexperienced on how to run a comprehensive blood test. I wasted valuable time treating my poor dog with the meds he prescribed. Had he ran a blood test that would check his ALKP, ALT, AMYL & cPL levels they would've known how dire his situation was. Roscoe wound up being diagnosed with a severe liver issue and pancreatitis by a vet that knows what type of blood test to run. If you truly love your pets please take them somewhere for proper diagnosis and treatment. When your dog is sick time is of the essence! As it is now my Roscoe died earlier this morning. I wish I had taken him to Dr. Collier at Creekside Animal Hospital sooner but I wasted 10 days dealing with incompetent people at Baxter & Cleo and VEG Katy. When my dog didn't improve from his meds prescribed at Baxter & Cleo I took him to VEG Katy for a second diagnosis. They ran the same blood test and x-rayed his body. He was sent home with more meds. He was still not improving so I took him back to VEG Katy. I spoke with the doctor on call there and asked her if she was sure he wasn't misdiagnosed and she came unglued. They ran the same blood test and x-rays and still came up with nothing. They gave him a few more meds by IV and I took him home. After still no improvement that's when I took him to Creekside. Fortunately they ran a real blood test. Once I found out how dire my Roscoe's situation was I drove him straight to Texas A&M Small Animal Hospital Emergency Room. Their team of specialists diagnosed Roscoe with a cancer that was attacking his Liver, Pancreas and Lungs. If I hadn't wasted 10 days getting a proper diagnosis Roscoe could at least been given cancer treatments. Roscoe was supposed to start cancer treatments tomorrow but he died today. I don't normally leave reviews but I feel like it is my duty as a responsible pet owner. If you truly love your pets stay away from Baxter & Cleo and VEG Katy! read more
