A charming man who is incredibly inattentive and overscheduled. In retrospect I wish that I had sued him for malpractice.
In 1999, I underwent surgery for an ACL repair. Afterward, my knee was much worse. I repeatedly asked why it wasn't healing as expected and didn't receive a response.
My physical therapist suggested that I might have developed a cyclops lesion, a relatively rare complication. Dr. Bauman pooh-poohed the idea over the phone without examining me or seriously considering it.
After close to a year of being in unnecessary pain and on crutches (not to mention maxing out my insurance and depleting ALL of my savings), the cyclops lesion (because that's EXACTLY what I had) was finally "fixed" by a surgeon at the Hospital for Special Surgery. I was walking within a few days.
I had of course, in the meantime, developed multiple bone spurs which required surgery as well
It is also not unusual, in my experience, for a patient to rave about their latest surgery with Dr. Bauman and, when you talk to them again a year later . . . their surgery still hasn't quite healed and they've never achieved the outcome expected. read more
