All the lights off @8:02....at first he turned all the lights off before we had packed all our gear..we had to ask for him to turn them on so we could see, gave the meanest stank eye when turning them on, we didn't feel welcome....we said thank you at the end and he didn't even acknowledge us when it was obvious.....weird old guy.

It was a good time.

Want to have a great time for not a million dollars? Far from the expense drinks and scene down the street, this place is such good old fashioned fun. They have a lot of options of speeds to hit balls at. And if you don't have gear they'll supply you with no extra charge. However if you're good at baseball (I'm not) bring your own as I hear there's a different in quality. Tons of fun. Bring the crew without going broke. I will be back. Probably several times.

Softball 55 mph cage.

This place has that old school vibe, which we loved. We took our daughter, who plays softball. We bought 7 tokens which equal 120 softball balls yesterday. We were there at least 30-45minutes. Our daughter had a great time batting in the 55 mph cage, and she really got going after the first 20 balls. The guys working there are super friendly and welcoming and they took the time to answer our questions regarding a future team gathering we're planning at there place.

My husband and I have been going to Mt. Tabor Crossfit for a little over 1.5 years and have had an…read moreexcellent experience at the gym. As an ultrarunner, I was looking for strength training to balance out my miles and prevent recurrence of chronic injuries. We gave MTCF a try since it's right down the block from our house. I was initially hesitant due to stereotypes about Crossfit gyms and the fear that I wouldn't fit in as someone who has very little weightlifting experience. I shouldn't have worried! Alex (the owner) and the rest of the coaches have built an awesome, inclusive environment focused on allowing you to get the best out of yourself. I especially appreciate their focus on technique/injury prevention and getting the movements correct before increasing weight. I give MTCF huge credit for keeping me injury free for 1.5 years as my mileage has increased significantly and encourage other runners (or anyone looking to get fit!) to stop by.

I have been in and out (well more out than in) of gyms for easily over 20 years. All through my…read moretwenties and some of my thirties. I've played sports and now in Portland, live on a bicycle. Now in my forties, I need to remain active. I went to a Yelp event and by default, I won free foundations classes and a one month membership. I had never done crossfit. Enter a little energized sparkplug by the name of Alex, and you have Mt Tabor CrossFit's reason for being. She is encouraging, positive and great at correcting your form. I have always been used to isolated workouts, so getting used to circuit training is a bit different but, so far I've adapted well. It is just me and one other in our class and we've caught on pretty quick. So far, so good and if you are up for trying something new, go see Alex. Enjoy.

I joined in February and love this place. I've always hated gyms because of their heteronormativity…read moreand it's nice to work out in a space that feels safe for all. This is the only gym where I've been consistent and stayed consistent and in the four months I've been a member I've seen noticeable improvements in my musculature, core strength and stamina. I go for the classes. If you pay for the monthly membership all classes are included. I try to hit three a week. I hope to attend more open gym times in the future but for right now the evening classes work with my schedule. There's a couple things I could nitpick. I wish they were open all day on Saturday and Sunday. It makes more sense to be open half days on a weekday for those of us who work 9-5s. I think the powerlifting class should be limited to no more than 6 - 8 people given the equipment limitations. But overall I'm not here to be at the most resourced or state of the art gym. Place is important and I need to workout publicly in a space that's affirming and that's what I've found here. The trainers are great. Eloise is fantastic. She takes you seriously and provides good critique on form while also challenging you to improve. She has great bedside manner and I'm always happy to take her classes even if they kick my ass sometimes. Felicia is also fantastic and plays great music and I appreciate Kristen's chill energy during powerlifting. I love the get ups and hinges class most, followed by kettlebell 7. The conditioning class is sadistic and occasionally I'll go to test my progress. Last time one of the exercises included doing 1000 jump ropes. I was like oh so you hate us hate us but I also felt accomplished by rising to the challenge. I moved to Portland about 9 months ago and didn't think it would be as hard as it has been to find community but EKC has been a welcoming part of my weekly routine that has made me feel connected to my community. It's two blocks from my house and for the first time in my life actually enjoy working out. It's not a cheap gym by any means but it's not budget breaking. They have a flexible pricing scheme for income limited folks. They're always making little improvements here and there including adding more signage and painting and I appreciate their desire to revise and improve on themselves as I am too. Love this place. Can't say enough good things. Almost don't want more people to come because I like the class sizes as they are but I also want to support this place that's made me feel very welcomed.

The trainers are knowledgeable, attentive, and generous with their time and instruction. Eloise has already offered me several corrections / adjustments that have improved my experience. (Felecia and Tess, too!) While rigorous, each class and program accommodates multiple levels of experience and fitness. Above all, I have been impressed by the welcoming and supportive atmosphere/culture, deepened and sustained by EKC's members. Here, one can truly come as they are. I feel motivated and inspired and look forward to my next workout at/with EKC.

I have had a great time with all the instructors at Fulcrum. They hit the sweet spot between encouraging and over the top cheerleading. They all know their stuff and give good corrections. The workouts are varied in format, music, and focus so I didn't get bored. I had a serious injury and they modified exercises for me while I progressed back to full weight bearing and impact. The instructors I regularly look for are Jai, Freddy, Cheryl, and Dakayla. I loved Rodney but he moved. Space: The gym looks like a gym, not a health spa. I like this. It is clean and well maintained. There is an outdoor platform and a garage door which has been great for COVID necessary ventilation. COVID: They took it seriously [sanitation, masking, ventilation] and even let me know when I may have been exposed [pre-vaccine era]. Payment: I had a few hiccups with injuries and life changes and they were gracious about suspending my membership until I could return. Women: There are tons of badass women who work out here. Classes are dominated by women. Cons: I cannot really think of any. For first time boot camp/weight lifters, I would recommend doing their health assessment/intro interview. They will show you some moves there. Don't be intimidated by the acronyms or moves - everyone can do them and pros will give you good individual attention if you need it.

Unfortunately, after learning about how my training partner was treated by staff this past Saturday morning, I will not be upgrading my membership. According to my partner, he finished his workout on Saturday 10/3/2026 around 11:20/11:30 AM and was heading out when he realized he forgot his phone. As he walked toward the vestibule with his headphones on, multiple employees started shouting at him. When he stopped to see what was going on, three staff members, including one who sprinted from behind the turnstile, rushed him and got right in his face in a hostile, bullying, and intimidating manner over a simple check-in misunderstanding. Even though he was already checked in, which the front desk quickly verified via his phone number once he went back up to them, the staff created an aggressive, public spectacle.  Customers and guests pay to train in a welcoming environment, not to be harassed or treated like criminal suspects. This kind of aggressive, highly unprofessional behavior is completely unacceptable. Management really needs to look into how their staff treats people.
