Ordered the Haddock Fish with an order of chips and mushy peas. Fish was great! Chips were decent, not the best, but the fish was definitely the star of the show, cooked to perfection in a light, not overly oil-saturated batter. The kind lady behind the counter let me try a dollop of their gravy (it was wonderful)! Such a gem with good quality food in a no frills package! Great for a quick lunch or dinner as you're walking about and exploring the area. Would definitely come back!

I instead order a battered sausage and some chips. the ambiance was terrible with a thick clammy smell as if there was no airflow for years. Alright food but wouldn't consider going back until they figure out their problems and get their priorities straight and hire new faster less judging eyeing staff who clearly did not like my appearance and hope they figure out what the smell is and that they remove it immediately. really a shame about those because the food was great and five stars just wasn't worth the wait and the smell.

From the moment I stepped foot into the shop, I was greeted with warm smiles and a delightful aroma of freshly fried fish and chips. The menu at Tib Street Chippy offered a wide variety of options, catering to both traditional and modern tastes. I opted for their classic fish and chips, and I was blown away by the quality and flavour. The fish was perfectly cooked, crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. The chips were golden and had that ideal combination of fluffy interior and crispy exterior. It was truly a match made in culinary heaven. What impressed me the most, however, was the promptness of the service. Despite the busy evening rush, the staff at Tib Street Chippy managed to deliver my order in record time. They were efficient, ensuring that every customer received their food with minimal wait. The attention to detail and dedication to providing excellent service was evident in every interaction I had with the staff. Not only was the food exceptional and the service prompt, but the atmosphere at Tib Street Chippy was also inviting. The cozy seating area and charming decor added to the overall experience. It was clear that the owners and staff took great pride in creating a welcoming environment for their customers. In conclusion, I highly recommend Tib Street Chippy to anyone craving delicious fish and chips. The exceptional quality of the food, combined with the prompt and attentive service, make it a standout eatery. I can't wait to visit again and indulge in their mouthwatering offerings. Next time I'll try the sausage.

Last night I finally decided to give it a try and was extremely underwhelmed. First of all, I was not greeted by any type of hostess or waiter who could direct me where to go. I decided to go find a table myself and look at the menu. After about 5 minutes of sitting there no one had come over, so I went up to the bar and ordered my food to the table along with pouring myself my own water from their tap. Later in the meal I asked a waiter for extra napkins, he just looked at me, returned 2 minutes later and threw napkins on the table without saying a word through the whole interaction. Every staff member I dealt with was rude and seemed to not want to serve me. Worst dining experience I've had in a while. As for the food, mediocre at best. Nothing special. Fried pickles were alright, although not served with any dipping sauces. My grilled cheese was soggy by the time it was served to me.

Kebabs are lost on me, and that's no bad thing. If you've danced the night away and have the munchies, I have a far better suggestion for you. Don't get soggy fries and burnt pizza crust from the nearest freezer-to-oven shack, dear God, please don't. If you're partying in the Gay Village or along Princess Street, take my advice and go to Portland Plaice. Why? Well, what could be better than proper fish and chips after a night out? That's right, proper fish and chips. Real fat chips, mushy peas, gravy, battered fish fingers, all wrapped up neatly and smelling pungently of vinegar. My Baa Bar companion, the blonde, introduced me to this little treasure, and I've never looked back. The downside is that it might be open until ridiculous o' clock at weekends, but not during weekdays. Many a time have we trekked there from afar, finding it shut, realising it's a Tuesday. Maybe not enough people would go, but they forget, chippy food is cheap, and students (and writers) like cheap, and students (and writers) are out during the week... the maths does itself. But never mind, just grab it while you can. Some of my favourite memories include myself and the blonde grabbing us a little midnight snack, smuggling it into the taxi and eating it in the comfort of my own flat in front of the TV. Ah, those were the days. Now if only we could arrange our next Satan's Hollow excursion nice and quickly...
