They care about the animals. If you choose to use this clinic, however, be sure that your pet gets the care and screening they require by bringing a checklist of what is typically done during their annual physical and any visit related to a particular illness. You can find or create the checklists based on information from Veterinary School websites. Discuss the checklist with your vet. You may not understand all of the veterinary jargon on the websites, but you can always ask the vet to explain it to you. Use the lists to make sure that the vets do all the main, usual diagnostic and screening tests listed for your pet's annual physical and/or issue. Early diagnosis leads to better health outcomes...and a lower likelihood of death. Caught early, specialist care is less likely to be required - many illnesses can be handled at the clinic if treatment is not delayed. Ask for a copy of test results and review all lab work. Ask what the abnormal findings mean. The vets may need to be reminded to follow up on abnormal results. Sometimes results don't make it into your pet's folder, which can prevent detection of issues. If the vet you are meeting with says that there is no need for blood tests - that they already know what the problem is - don't believe them. Ask to speak with another vet. If a vet brings up going to Garden State Veterinary Hospital, then tells you that your pet will be given all sorts of unnecessary tests there and it will be really expensive, and probably not necessary, discouraging you from taking that step, ask to speak with another vet for the straight story. The bottom line is that this clinic has its heart in the right place, but it is helpful to do your "due diligence" to make sure your pet gets the right, complete care. Trust but verify...

The good doctor was so caring that I wouldn't consider consulting with anyone else when I adopted two Bangal cats a year ago. Recently I visited twice. Once for shots and a wellness visit and again when one of my kitties had litter issues. On both occasions, Dr. Lorenzo and his staff were kind, helpful and very well informed, offering advice and strategies for managing and troubleshooting our "challenges." In a world dominated by big=box stores and anonymous Amazon drop and dash deliveries, pet owners are so lucky to run across an attentive local doctor, like Dr. Lorenzo who cares about my pets at least as much as I do. As humans we have set Drs who know us and our medical conditions. I believe our fur babies deserve the best health care as well, they should have permanent vets not just new vets for the day. He is an excellent vet who never rushes through visits and always takes the time to discuss everything related to your visit and your pet in general. As the other reviewer stated, when dealing with major illnesses like cancer, he explains all the options (including the ones at other vet referrals) and their positives and negatives for your animal as well as you. When my dog had nasal cancer he was able and willing to try several different options to prolong her quality of life. As for giving a hard time about the dogs behavior, I just plain old don't believe it. All my dogs are herding dogs out of various rescue situations, and even with my border collie who was both dog and occasionally people aggressive, he just was even more patient with her, and talked to me until she was comfortable with him. Dr. North is also a great vet, but will tell you like it is. If your animal is fat, he is going to advocate for that animals health. As any good vet would. The front office staff and vet techs are all great and have gone out their way to make going to the vet a more pleasant experience for my animals. I literally could not recommend them more.

(Covid was not an emergency at that time) She straight up lied and stated if we did an invasive operation on my already declining cat that she could keep my cat alive for another year and a half. (wanted $4500 dollars) we opted for chemotherapy that ultimately did more harm than good. ($2000 later) Dr. Cohen showed no compassion and never met any of her patients in person at the time. also, my cat came home with a limp in her foot meaning someone rough housed her while she was in Dr. Cohen's care. Would not recommend. I wish Dr. Cohen would have just told us the state of our cats cancer the first time we went to her. This Dr. only wants your money.
