Since then we have had at least 7 promises of starts and as many excuses. If he wasn't patently, a con man ? I would feel sorry for this pathetic, winging little man. Probably the worst thing when dealing with him is the first 5 minutes of any call has him whining in a sickening voice about his and his families misfortunes/illnesses, absolutely pathetic! All his whinging and whining will not stop me however pursuing him in all necessary courts to get my money or at least to show more people what a disgusting little creep he really Is.

It was to renovate/strip out an entire floor of my house and reconfigure it. The day before they were due to start I was told my project had been delayed and that they were at least 3 weeks behind as Phil had been off with injury! At this point I had already packed everything up, sold furniture I didn't intend to keep and stripped out the kitchen! For the following 2 and a half months, week on week my job was cancelled and pushed back, and 3 times it was booked in they simply just didn't turn up and was left for me to chase them to find out what was going on. In the October, Phil cancelled the job on me stating that they were too far behind on other peoples work and he was not prepared to put himself and his lads though anymore stress!!!! He quite rightly offered to return my £2000 deposit that I had paid him. However, 2 months on, my deposit still hadn't been returned. I had to take this through the small claims court at which point he paid me only £500 back. Gave me multiple dates when he'd return the rest, all of which passed and nothing returned. I proceeded through the courts, both he and his wife LOUISE SMEDLEY (who's name the business is actually under) both now have CCJ's because of this, even that wasn't enough to get them to return my deposit. Ultimately I had to get a high court enforcement agency (bailiffs) involved to retrieve my money. On the last day before the bailiffs were due to make a visit to Phil's home and his wife's business premises they finally made payment in full. 7 months it took to get all of my deposit back and that was on top of nearly 3 months of being messed around! I have not even had anything resembling an apology or any kind of acknowledgment of the situation I was placed in. Customer service was disgusting, it was just excuse after excuse. The covid card was played multiple times, supply issues, even "bad traffic" was used twice as a reason for him not being able to start the work. Every phone call with Phil started with the first 4 minutes having to listen to endless sob stories. It was, quite frankly, pathetic! Unprofessional and very unreliable!

They were pretty knowledgable about the housing market, but I did get the feeling that they were using sales techniques on me to try and get me to sell my house through them. For example writing the value of the property on a bit of paper and asking me to take a guess at the value of the house, then the man revieled the price he wrote to my supposed delight of how much higher it was. I wasnt interested in such games, and I actually found them patronising. After the valuation, they phoned me every two days to see if I wanted to sell my house through them. They were a bit too keen to get me to sell my house through them!

They lost documents then tried to tell me they had no recollection of taking them, agreed to let me measure up for curtains on the house I was buying (all agreed, so i assumed it was off the market) then the estate agent manager arrived late with someone else looking around the house! The manager (if he's still there) tried lots of sales techniques with me, exploits your lack of knowledge (as a first time buyer) and doesn't care. He was a bit greasy, didn't get back to you when you called and I wouldnt trust him as far as i could throw him. Avoid, avoid, avoid!
