The experience of going to this store was almost surreal for me. For one, the name is absolutely not one that wold ever draw me inside. I ended up inside because a large part of my family/friends group decided to go inside. Also it was quite warm (uhhh, hot) in Murphys and there was the hope of a/c inside. Once inside, I felt I'd been transported into a different world and a different time. Technology was non-existent in this store in a right-now-today sense, yet it was all around me in a years-gone-by sense. I can't begin to explain the wide variety of machineries in Dea-Bathroom. Toilets, cow bells, heavy lifting pullies, classic gas street lamps, bottle openers, land plows, claw foot bathtubs (upstairs, yes look closely and there is an upstairs), and the list could go on and on. The store was so full of enthralled, browsing patrons that I kept finding myself saying "oops sorry, oh excuse me" (in a polite tactful we're-all-enjoying-this-place way, not a "ugh, MOVE" way). We spent a lot more time than I ever expected and ended up browsing the entire place (unless they had a hidden, super cool area that no one knows about). The staff there were very kind and answered with friendliness any questions one could come up with. Because I never could have possibly imagined myself being interested in a store such as this, having such an interesting time inside made all the more impact on me (such that within seconds of entering, I wasn't even thinking about a/c). I had an old Crane spout (1940's) with diverter that leaked. None of today's spout could have worked as replacement. After some research, I found the Crane tub spout adapter DEA machinery makes!! Customer service was outstanding. Lydia answered all of my questions patiently. The very well made adapter arrived less than a week later with the spout that comes with it as an option. Both could not have been easier to install. Just screw on the adapter onto the original wall piece, and voilà! God I love this place. The first time my husband and I came to Murphys, we got pretty wasted and ended up walking around the shops for a bit to sober up. Me plus an antique store plus alcohol, however, is an equation ending in disaster. When I saw a gold-plated sink for $100, I just had to have it. The two or three still-sober brain cells I had left were all, "hey Heather calm your tits, you don't even have a house to put it in, and they probably don't even take AmEx here anyway!" But then my drunk-ass husband (bf at he time actually) started in with the "holy crap you'll never find a deal like that anywhere else" and other assorted idiocy which only served to egg me on. And lo, they DO take AmEx! So 5 years later, I am still the proud owner of a gold plated sink that's sitting in a storage unit. o_O Anyway, we were back again for the 800th time this past weekend and managed to control ourselves. They do have a lovely assortment of metallic sinks though! As well as a huge range of vintage bathroom fixtures that would make for some seriously awesome design when installed. We came in here and it felt like we went back in time. We gave our sons lessons in History. They were actually interested. We showed them what we use to type letters on, sinks and bathtubs we used as we were growing up. One pitcher we saw my Mom actually still owned since she was young. There was a pair of teeny tiny books from the 1940s that interested our sons. We saw a toilet that was called the crapper and we were told Thomas Crapper invented the toilet and thats where the phrase, "I've got to take a crap" came from. Even the home itself was part of History. We all really enjoyed being there. We all purchased something. I purchased a very heavy bottle opener in the shape of a women's heel. Too cute to pass. This is a wonderful shop!! Their prices are fantastic and their customer service is friendly! They have replicated old things (like tin signs, keys, things like that), but they also have real antiques and for great prices! And I'm not talking porcelain dolls and doilies - I mean really neat 19th century stuff; gas lanterns, wash boards, medicine bottles with worn labels, etc. I ended up buying a washboard with an old faded painted sign on it for only $29! That's a steal!!! When I went up to the counter to pay, I was telling the owner how much I loved her store, and she told me there was more upstairs! Unfortunately, I didn't go up there because I would have gone broke for sure. But she explained that this is where all their 19th century bathroom fixtures, sinks, and tubs were located. I do kind of wish that I had gone up there just to take a look because it would have been neat just to see all that stuff. But I definitely will be back next time and I will check it out then! Very cool antique shop in the up and coming little town of Murphy's nestled up there in gold and now wine country. If you like retro kitschy chic and want neat door knobs, vintage big keys for art or big jewelry or if you simply want a cool bottle opener you the know the kind you nail down into a counter or wall (an they sell the box where the caps drops in too) then I recommend you hitting up this place. Awesome place for those who want an out of the box retro home or if you break something at your grandma's place and you want to fix it before she returns home then speed you butt up here. This is a must see business for anyone looking to restore a vintage home. We have been in the vintage home restoration business in Anaheim, Ca, for 35 and have found several parts that were not available anymore being manufactured for DEA. We use their offset toilet flush ells (not available anywhere else) as well as Crane sink parts that they have had made that are spot on replacements for the originals. DEA Bathroom Machineries is positively incredible! I live in Pittsburgh and spent almost a year looking for the perfect bathtub for a 1920s bathroom restoration. I have been all over the northeast and mid-west, from New York to Michigan to Chicago. Finally, I found the perfect tub on DEA's website. At first I was skeptical about having a 400+ pound, cast-iron bathtub shipped sight-unseen from California to Pittsburgh, but John and the crew at DEA made it happen! The communication and willingness to help throughout the entire process was absolutely stellar. And the shipping cost really wasn't terribly unreasonable, considering the cross-country trek. Went in just to see what they had. Spend an hour checking out the sinks, tubs, toilets none of which I needed. I did find a light fixture for my kitchen. When the ceramic towel holder in my 1920's bathroom broke I sent them the pieces and in three days a had a replacement! read more

We got on the internet and actually found a video showing how to fix the exact faucet. We saw that the parts were not only available but we could drive to Murphys to get them. Excellent customer service (Dave was so helpful and very knowledgeable) and we are incredibly pleased with our complete set of 1950's Crane bathroom sink fixtures. These restored fixtures are expensive--but well worth it to us , since to tear out all our tile and install a totally new sink and fixtures would have been well beyond our budget. We bought replacement Crane faucets from these guys. Within days of installation the tabs that hold the caps in place cracked and split off. We returned them and the company basically insinuated we broke them by hitting them, said they wouldn't replace them, but offered us 10% off a repurchase. This from a company with a 100% satisfaction guarantee proudly displayed on their site. I'd be very careful about buying merchandise from this company - they don't back up the quality of what they sell. read more
