Though it is not the fault of the library, there does tend to be a lot of screaming and rambunctious children running around (especially in the summer) but they have a conference space available for those looking for somewhere quiet to work. Recently I was having an issue with my computer accessing my google drive on their wifi and needed some help trouble shooting it. I was so lucky to have several PML employees try to help me, including a gentleman named Thomas. When he couldn't figure out the issue, he let me use one of their computers to access my documents so I could keep working! Little did I know that while I worked, he was still looking into the issue. After about 1-1.5 hours he came to me and explained what he had done, and I was able to access my drive once again. His quick help allowed me to submit my graduate school applications completely and on time. Thank you to Thomas and all of the kind and helpful staff at PML!!!!

Very pleasant but it wasn't exceptional large and over the decades it become obvious that a larger library was needed. Fortunately there was room on the property to expand so expand they did. Major additions in 1959,1987 and1996 increased the size of the library dramatically. The library is long and rambling with lots of interior space so there is plenty of room to move around and not be crowded. The original part is still open and makes quite an interesting contrast to the rest of the building. The library has lovely areas to read with lots of plants and natural light as well as a great area for kids, complete with huge stuffed critters and play areas. An interesting library that has grown and expand along with the town of Cumberland. It will be interesting to see if it continues to expand in the future.

This structure dates to 1875 and is a private residence for some time. The white tower is 39 feet tall and has a range of 9 nautical miles.
