We needed gutters installed on one of our homes which was a new build and I compared him to another company and his pricing was so much better for what we wanted. The job was completed over a couple of days. I love how personable the team was and how they also cleaned up behind themselves after they left. We walked the property together afterward to ensure that everything was well down. I have no doubt that the work they did added so much value and curb appeal to our home. Several people raved about the beauty of the installation and our family is very pleased. I will recommend them to others. They run a great company! Thank you.

He showed up on time and did a visibly good job of installation from the ground looking up ! They looked great and he said they were guarantied for a lifetime for the gutters and workmanship! It rained about a week after the installation and I had water running down from between the gutters and the facia of my roof ! I called him and made him aware of the problem that day! He said he would be coming to fix the problem within a week! After he didn't show up I called him again and he said he had been on an alaskan cruise and would be coming out the next week. I've called him several times over the months and sent him videos of the problem trying to get him to come back and fix the problem and he still hasn't shown up !! Before he started doing the work I asked if he was experienced in putting gutters on homes with metal roofs and he said he had done several projects that had metal roofing ! I'm afraid that with all the water getting behind my gutters that I will eventually be having a problem with a rotting fascia and having to replace my roof that's attached to the fascia and drip edge that holds the roof in place!

While here he also gave us an estimate for a new roof, using the best architectural shingles. Scott was easy to work with, direct, friendly and respectable toward us. We are seniors, and Scott made decision-making friendly and non- threatening. Once the roofing actually commenced, it was done in a day and a half. Mr. Hixon brought a large crew with him. They worked hard and very diligently. We couldn't have been more happy with the way our roof turned out. I'm sure our roof is the envy of many people on our street. They would also have to be impressed at how hard working a large crew performed. There was not a one of the men who was at any time idle. Thanks Hixon's!

I have no less than 3 leaks at the moment as you will see from the photos I'm including. The roof has leaked since it was installed. Hixon's has been out on several occasions to look for a problem and I have resorted to putting a water heater pan and painters plastic in the attic to catch water from a hard rain so my ceiling doesn't incur anymore damage. I have been given these excuses so far as to why my roof is leaking: 1) Mr. Spangler, we ran a hose on the roof and we can't find any leaks. 2) Mr. Spangler, the problem is, your chimney has loose mortar and is causing the leak. (I hired someone to fix the mortar.) Guess what, that didn't fix the leak. 3) Mr. Spangler, you have squirrels or raccoons peeing in your attic, and that's causing the water stains on the ceiling. (I kid you not, that is what they told my wife while I was at work.) I understand that some leaks are hard to find. What I resent is the fact that when I had a problem and they sent someone out to try and repair the issue, there was never any follow through. No one called me back to ask if the problem had been fixed. And when I got frustrated with the leaks and asked to speak with the owner, I was completely ignored. I have tried speaking with Mr. Hixon through their on-line web site and by phone. I have even gone down to their business office in Beach Island where I was told he wasn't in. I gave them my name and number and asked for him to call me to no avail. They want you to talk to a contact person which is the salesman who gives you your original quote. The day before the hurricane hit, I came home and found my wife putting a bucket on the floor to catch the rain that was dripping from my ceiling and onto my hardwood floors. I called my contact person and he indicated that he would send someone out to look at the problem the next day. Well, the hurricane hit that night. After several days, I called him back and asked when he would be able to look at the roof leak. He told me , " Mr. Spangler, there has been alot of roof damage. I will call you when I can schedule someone over there. 2 yrs later (literally) he still hadn't called back. I called Hixon's and ask to speak to the owner or I would contact an attorney. 15 min. later, my contact person called......I don't want to talk to a contact person. I don't want to talk to someone who doesn't return my calls and doesn't care if my roof leaks or not. Mr. Hixon never called back. So now I am left with writing this review about my experience. I will have to hire another roofing contractor to fix my leaks, something that I paid Hixon to do for me. BUYER BEWARE I was going to post some pictures of my ruined ceilings but it doesn't look like that is possible on Yelp reviews.

The level of detail and the way they were like a machine! You can tell the crew really takes pride in their work. Soren was there the whole time and answered all of my questions! Great quality work! Now from the beginning of contact it's been nothing but professional service and just that southern hospitality that most companies lack. I called and spoke with Danielle who set the appt up and gave me the run down of everything that would happen, next came Jason who was so respectful and really took the time to explain everything, we had multiple companies come out and Jason was the ONLY one who got in our attic, climbed on the roof actually touched the problem, he made sure to stay in contact with us the whole time, answered all my questions without aggravation and made sure that we were happy! Ricky was also great and again made sure we were happy through the process. I literally can't say anything negative as I'm really a big sucker for great customer care and you mix that with the quality of the roof installation, you have an all star company! Thank y'all so much!

This guy convinced me that the job will take almost whole day and it would cost $1,200 with military discount. Well, this job took hour and a half, and it's normally is about $400-600. I guess it on me for not doing my due diligence, but I didn't realize that people in the South could be this dishonest. Just FYI, industry market is around $100 per hour. Overhead is about 10%, with profit somewhere 10-20%. So, when this snake told me is going to take most of the day, the quote for $1200 makes sense. I plan to report the contractor with their Surety Bond, report it to contractor's state license board and file a lawsuit. I also wonder why they don't build homes anymore. $1,200 for this job. ___________________________________________ One, I didn't say I was satisfied with the quality of your job. Two, just because you don't charge by the hour, doesn't mean you should overcharge. Three, it took you a few days to reply. I guess you and your employee had to come up with an excuse. His opus sounded just like your comments. I guess you have perfected the art of scamming. Legit companies will write out an invoice. That was another clue to stay the f away from you. Can you tell me why you no longer build homes?

Hurricane Helene (9/26/24) caused monumental damage to this community, and unfortunately to my house as well. Though my backyard fence took the brunt of it all, my roof also experienced the results of high winds and flying debris. And so, with shingles missing and small holes now present, it was clear a new roof would be required. I was one of many homeowners reaching out to literally every roofing company, via Yelp's Request A Quote I might add, and one of the responses came from Southpaw. The quote was on point and the timeline (in a single day) was exactly what I was hoping for. They communicated with me that they would be dropping off the shingles the evening before and sure enough around 7 pm a truck, with pallets and forklift, arrived. The team member sat the pallets to one side of the driveway so I was still able to park on it as well. And soon after sunrise the next day, the team arrived. Ladders went up and shingles came flying down. Before I knew it the sound of hammers on the roof began. They were there to work! Around 3 pm I went outside to get the mail and saw they were almost finished. But the weather had other plans. Rain soon followed. They were quick to cover the last section with tarp and waited on my front porch for almost a hour till the rain subsided. And then they got it done! While two were on the last section, the rest of the team were cleaning up the back and front yards. And let me tell you, it turned out beautifully. I hope I don't require roofing services anytime soon, but if I do I know who I will be calling.
