Her office could be run a little better, but I guess that is a result of how busy they are and how many folks are all in the waiting room. But, since the service she provides is excellent, I would not go elsewhere and will deal with the front desk.

Usually when people make appointments during the week they are making time in their work schedule to make the visit which is extremely inconsiderate. Why send out a confirmation text message if you aren't going to even be at the appointment yourself? Zeroooo Updated based on the poor response: Implying I went to the wrong office just shows the lack of accountability by the team here. I'm old enough to read the sign on the building/door... I don't need anyone to call me now I'll go elsewhere. There's always some weird excuse in the reviews here where the customer always seems to be making something up because there's no way the office could own up to a mistake. A helpful tip for future business responses would be something along the lines of ...(We apologize for the inconvenience and value your time. I am not sure what went wrong but if it helps we will fit you in at your availability). Imagine getting a response like that? I guess I went to a phantom office where all the employees are invisible. Silly me.

The staff is very friendly and the office is very clean. The wait time to see the doctor is minimal (they must know how to schedule!). Once you are brought into the exam room, you wait a very short time to see the doctor who also is very friendly. A pleasant experience overall! Besides the overall service I also feel confident in the treatment that I receive. If you have not tried it, I would suggest you give a try. You will be very pleased with the experience.

Unfortunately, this visit left me feeling uncomfortable, dismissed, and taken advantage of. I struggle with significant anxiety around doctors, especially in clinical settings, and instead of feeling supported, I felt judged and spoken down to. The provider I met with had very poor bedside manner and made assumptions about me and my body within minutes of meeting me. At one point, she even commented that I was "getting bright red" while questioning me, which only heightened my anxiety. I was too nervous to speak up in the moment. What stood out the most was being told multiple times that I "never have to come back" and could just return to the Smithtown location. That felt unprofessional and dismissive--especially given that I had just paid a significant amount out of pocket for the visit. To make matters worse, I was informed that treatment would require a follow-up appointment, leaving me feeling stuck after spending money on a visit that ultimately didn't help me. I deeply regret not staying with my original location. I've referred many friends and family members to Schweiger Dermatology over the years and truly value the practice as a whole, which is why this experience was so disappointing. I sincerely wish my visit to the Deer Park office had reflected the level of care and compassion I've consistently received elsewhere.

Dr. Leftkowitz and his assistant, Danielle were absolutely terrific. Took a while, yes to remove everything. (That is what you would want, no?) but Dr. Leftkowitz was thorough, friendly, humorous and highly-skilled. Danielle, his assistant was incredibly comforting, sweet and professional in every way. Experienced, compassionate, and such a wonderful human being. Felt like an "old" friend. A great team and I am so thankful I had them. Because this issue was not treated properly in the past by others,( it had gone deeper) it was a long, timely procedure, but I felt reassured in their competence in removing all the cancer cells. Had to have the plastic surgeon, Dr. Singer suture up the wound but he took the time to make the best decision in what would cosmetically look best and promote the proper healing. It was a large wound and required numerous stitches, but I felt confident in his decision-making. Dr. Singer is another asset to this dermatology office. ***I honestly DO NOT understand all the terrible previous reviews..the staff here were kind, efficient as they could be considering the incredible volume of patients seen, and very pleasant. Friendly, understanding and highly professional. A definite 5 star experience for me. Pleased with the whole Advanced Dermatology experience here in W. Islip and Amityville with Dr. Flashner.

IF YOU HAVE HYPERPIGMENTATION AND BROWN SKIN, THIS PLACE IS NOT FOR YOU…read more I'm a South Asian woman with Fitzpatrick IV skin -- medium-deep, melanin-rich. My skin condition was actually pretty good over all, except for a recent tan and hyperpigmentation. The staff member whom I consulted with recommended a series of Helix Cool Peel treatments, claiming "there is minimal downtime, just a little red for a day or two" and that 3 peels would "almost completely take care of all the problems." No legitimate skincare professional should make that promise to anyone, let alone to a patient with darker skin where chemical peels carry a documented, well-known risk of making pigmentation significantly worse. She then enticed me with a limited-time "special discount." Thinking I would miss it, I fell for the scheme and hastily accepted the deal. After the procedure came the aftercare instructions. There was no real mention of sunscreen, which is the single biggest omission, regardless of the client's skin color. They failed to mention that the controlled micro-damage to the skin barrier leaves it significantly more hypersensitive to the sun, requiring more protection than usual, not less. A competent, up-to-date with research professional treating darker skin types would have specified SPF 50+ tinted sunscreen with iron oxides. These are critical for protection against visible light, which disproportionately triggers pigmentation in darker skin types. Instead, they said to avoid the sun and left it at that. Being huge on sunscreen, I followed my usual routine plus wore a hat, mask, and sunglasses. I didn't know it, but these precautions were barely keeping the worst effects at bay during this period. On one sunny afternoon, a couple of weeks after my last peel, I removed my hat and mask for about half an hour during a special outing to take photos. I had applied EltaMD tinted sunscreen earlier anyway. Hours later, I caught my reflection. My medium brown skin had turned muddy brown -- visibly off, the way a person looks when they're pink all over from a bad sunburn. It was the exact outcome I had been most afraid of, and I didn't any active treatments to fall back on. I hoped it was temporary. It wasn't. My foundation shade no longer even matched. In retrospect, it makes sense. The staff appeared to have fairer complexion, which isn't disqualifying, but they likely didn't have personal experience with tanning quickly the way I do. They should have taken even more care to follow the latest research about dark skin. It took months to reverse the damage, but 1 year later, my skin looks normal again and the hyperpigmentation has even faded somewhat. It's all thanks to topicals like tretinoin, azelaic acid, and hydroquinone, which are the dermatological gold standard. They're slower, yes, but gentle, and they actively mitigate accidental sun damage by interrupting the pigmentation cascade. I'm also looking into trying RF microneedling, specifically Morpheus8, which is significantly safer for darker skin. They work alongside the topicals and can raise your improvement ceiling from 30-40% with topicals alone to 60-80% combined, without the dangerous post-procedure hypersensitivity window. To find these special deals, not scams, check Groupon. Before booking anywhere, research the risks for your specific skin tone, then call and ask the practice directly: What is your post-procedure sun protection protocol for Fitzpatrick IV skin? What is your plan if my skin darkens after treatment? Can I see before and after photos of clients with my skin tone? If they can't answer specifically, walk away.
