Someone recently referred me to Dr. Basuk, who was incredibly knowledgable and understanding about my condition. She went into depth about all the causes of seborrheic dermatitis in ways that no dermatologist had done before. In addition to point out some simple lifestyle changes, she recommended treatments that had a less harmful compounds than other medication I have used before. I'm happy to say that my dermatitis has since been a thing of the past. I had a great experience with Dr. Basuk and her staff from start to finish. Pricing is good, especially for Long Island.

Usually when people make appointments during the week they are making time in their work schedule to make the visit which is extremely inconsiderate. Why send out a confirmation text message if you aren't going to even be at the appointment yourself? I don't need anyone to call me now I'll go elsewhere. There's always some weird excuse in the reviews here where the customer always seems to be making something up because there's no way the office could own up to a mistake. A helpful tip for future business responses would be something along the lines of ...(We apologize for the inconvenience and value your time. I am not sure what went wrong but if it helps we will fit you in at your availability). Imagine getting a response like that? I guess I went to a phantom office where all the employees are invisible. They made my appt with two male doctors, whom I don't remember the names of, and a newly hired female doctor for my final appointment. They just wanted my $20 copay to rush me out the door with their halfhearted 'Have a nice day.' What a waste of time and money! My current dermatologists, MDCS in Commack, are fantastic! They listen carefully, show genuine empathy, and offer thoughtful solutions to approach the problem. Even when I came in stressed, which wasn't helping my skin issues, they took the time to understand my concerns truly.

Unfortunately, this visit left me feeling uncomfortable, dismissed, and taken advantage of. I struggle with significant anxiety around doctors, especially in clinical settings, and instead of feeling supported, I felt judged and spoken down to. The provider I met with had very poor bedside manner and made assumptions about me and my body within minutes of meeting me. At one point, she even commented that I was "getting bright red" while questioning me, which only heightened my anxiety. I was too nervous to speak up in the moment. What stood out the most was being told multiple times that I "never have to come back" and could just return to the Smithtown location. That felt unprofessional and dismissive--especially given that I had just paid a significant amount out of pocket for the visit. To make matters worse, I was informed that treatment would require a follow-up appointment, leaving me feeling stuck after spending money on a visit that ultimately didn't help me. I deeply regret not staying with my original location. I've referred many friends and family members to Schweiger Dermatology over the years and truly value the practice as a whole, which is why this experience was so disappointing. I sincerely wish my visit to the Deer Park office had reflected the level of care and compassion I've consistently received elsewhere.

Little did I know I was waiting to get into a factory of yearn and churn with no individual follow up or caring. Not to violate HIPA regulations I won't get into specifics but the front desk has some great people but there or others that are extremely short and go as far when your asking a question to respond with " they will either call you a script or whatever..... they won't....". Last I checked we were a patient and we mattered. Then when you come on time for your appt be ready to wait about an hr to then be told the dr is behind 45 mins a patient and this is at the start of the day. Umm how does that happen. Wonder what would happen if I called and said I was 45 mins late. We know what would happen. And the part about the Dr's and follow up and assistance. See the stars above.

Had to have MOHS surgery yesterday on my ear for basal cell cancer...I had been seen by other…read moredermatologists in the past for this problem (not these offices) and they did not do anything to correct or treat it. Dr. Leftkowitz and his assistant, Danielle were absolutely terrific. Took a while, yes to remove everything. (That is what you would want, no?) but Dr. Leftkowitz was thorough, friendly, humorous and highly-skilled. Danielle, his assistant was incredibly comforting, sweet and professional in every way. Experienced, compassionate, and such a wonderful human being. Felt like an "old" friend. A great team and I am so thankful I had them. Because this issue was not treated properly in the past by others,( it had gone deeper) it was a long, timely procedure, but I felt reassured in their competence in removing all the cancer cells. Had to have the plastic surgeon, Dr. Singer suture up the wound but he took the time to make the best decision in what would cosmetically look best and promote the proper healing. It was a large wound and required numerous stitches, but I felt confident in his decision-making. Dr. Singer is another asset to this dermatology office. ***I honestly DO NOT understand all the terrible previous reviews..the staff here were kind, efficient as they could be considering the incredible volume of patients seen, and very pleasant. Friendly, understanding and highly professional. A definite 5 star experience for me. Pleased with the whole Advanced Dermatology experience here in W. Islip and Amityville with Dr. Flashner.

Before that, the doctors he had been seeing could not make a correct diagnosis and prescribe the appropriate treatment. The doctor immediately determined what kind of disease it was and prescribed an ointment. A few days later, there was a noticeable improvement. I want to note that the doctor was very attentive, polite, and took his time. His staff is also amazing. I know for sure that if any dermatological or cosmetic problems arise in our family, we will only be treated by Dr. Applebaum.
