What an unexpected find. After a week and a half of only Spanish food, I was ready for something a bit different. I stumbled upon this restaurant located a few minutes from my airbnb and after consulting yelp and trip advisor, decided to try it out. I was greeted by a man who I presume is the head chef, who explained to me that they do not serve a la carte, they only have a set menu which comes with a bottle of wine, with a vegetarian option, or seafood option on Thursday. Menu changes constantly so they have no written menu to see. He was dubious about me eating alone and perhaps being able to finish the meal, but I insisted it was fine.
I walked into a beautiful romantic room which rose petals strewn on the tables. Didn't realize I was taking myself on a romantic date for one, but in the name of yelping and trying new food, I succumbed.
The food was extremely well made with delicious balance of spices. Started with a zucchini pakora appetizer with a small side salad, second dish was a stuffed zucchini which normally comes with cheese but I requested without. I generously helped myself to the delicious sauces on the table, both the green and the non tamarind spicy sauce, they were flavorful and really brightened the flavors. Main "dish" was a spread of 4 dishes, including spinach, eggplant, mushroom, and a dal. (Sorry cannot remember the names). Basmati rice and naan stuffed with coconut was also served, really interesting. The naan itself was fluffy and light, but I did not enjoy the coconut as much as I thought I would, tasted a bit like dessert. The dishes were all flavorful, although not spicy, and without an overwhelming taste of curry. Finished off my meal with a strawberry yogurt parfait and some tea. Don't forget about the bottle of red wine that I could barely put a dent in. All of this with impeccable service for 31.50 euros. What a steal. Definitely come visit this restaurant if you are in need of a break from Spanish food!. read more
